If it is more than 10k after the last clutch cable change, better replace it with new one.

If worn out cluth plates, even with new clutch cable, cluth will be very hard to pull.Ya, the clutch lever has become very loose...it doesnt go back to its position fully..Originally posted by nirvan View PostThere is a chance also that the cable has gotten elongated (check for too much play at the lever).

One reason of the clutch plates being worn out is that the bike doesnt accelerate that fast as it used to do..and it does not cross a specific speed too..Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostIf we put our bike on 1st gear and leave the clutch the bike stalls. So it means the clutch plates is working fine right?.So is their any other test we can perform to check the condition of the plates

You can adjust out the play (looseness) at the lever by making an adjustment at the engine-end of the clutch wire. Do this right away and replace the cable as soon as convenient.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostYa, the clutch lever has become very loose...it doesnt go back to its position fully..

does your bike get stuck at particular speed say 90-100 but your rpm keeps on increasing, thats the sign of a worn out clutch.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostOne reason of the clutch plates being worn out is that the bike doesnt accelerate that fast as it used to do..and it does not cross a specific speed too..Socha Toh Locha.

Then i guess its not the clutch plates.Get the clutch adjusted as well as check the cable for any wear.Btw did you check the condition of the oil?Originally posted by inder.cool View PostNo, it doesnt happen like that...the bike goes till 100-110 and more also..!!

Ya, its been quite a while now..!!Originally posted by velociraptor13 View Postyes engine oil Like when did you last had an oil change? How many km has the bike run after the oil change?
Not getting time for the change..
But, does engine oil level affect the loose nature of the clutch lever..?

@swaroopz,
According to me, it's a good opportunity to give the bike the best run-in (*)
But some points to be followed,
> Make sure the bike is ridden single (ONLY you should ride)
> Never get carried away by speed of others, follow run-in speeds/gear-rpm levels, change gears at right RPM. Never cross 60 kmph/4000 rpm. Read owners' manual thoroughly, take it along with you if needed.
> Keep addresses of HH svc stations along your route handy (with ph. no's, call the svc stations and get their mobile numbers too)
> Look for engine heat up, initially stop the bike at 10kms interval for first 100kms, check if engine is not very hot, then you can increase the kms b/w the stops.
> Make sure your freinds adjust to your speed/needs w/o any boredom !!
If you can satisfy above points w/o any reluctance you may take the bike to Goa otherwise, stay back and give decent run-in here in B'lore.
Please wait for some Zma owner's feedback too !!??
(*) I am assuming that you have fair knowledge about run-in previously and biking (4S) exp. of min. 2 years....and that you have already done a run-in on your own on your previous bike ??!!!Last edited by vipin_s; 09-08-2009, 10:18 PM.
