Hi, guys please help me out with this problem. my zma has started moving in a horizontal wavy motion. It happens when i cruise at 50 and above( generally), the bike starts moving in a cris cross motion and continues till i stop the bike..its scary..it also stops when it goes thru a bump on the road. The people at service station say nothing wrong with the bike, i tried but cant explain them the problem.

How many km has your bike run?Originally posted by livetoride View PostHi, guys please help me out with this problem. my zma has started moving in a horizontal wavy motion. These factors could contribute:
1. Strong crosswinds
2. Uneven chain adjustment, skewed more to one side
3. Worn out wheel bearings
4. Worn out bushes in the rear swing-arm pivot
5. Uneven rear-shock absorber adjustment
6. Unevenly worn out oil in the front forks - this could occur because water enters due to a faulty o-ring (it happened to me, just discovered it today) and messes up the oil on one side.
7. Alloy wheels out of true
I changed my fork oil today (thanks Ravi, for the info!). Replaced the existing oil with Castrol fork oil, 150 ml per side. While the old oil was being drained, I found that one shock's oil was dirty greyish-black which I think is normal, while the other was a dirty rusty brown - a clear sign that water had found its way in. I'd say the amount of water was low, but enough to cause the spring to rust. I decided to change the oil because it was time and this was sped up when I discovered that oil was seeping out of the top of the fork.
I've also experienced the odd wobbling feeling you describe, which is typically set off over one bump on the road and stops a little later, when the bike goes over another bump. Hopefully the oil replacement will mean the end of the problem.Last edited by nirvan; 05-27-2009, 09:09 PM.

Tyre mods
I am thinking of changing the stock tyre with a fat one, what is the fattest tyre i can fit on my zma ? knowing that i will have to obviously remove the chain cover, and will there be considerable diffrence in pickup and top speed ? And please suggest a tyre and if possible the cost.Biking is the ultimate addiction, cocaine is just powder.

The fork oil replacement interval to my knowledge is every 12000km. This differs a little between manufacturers and riding conditions. 6500km is on the lower side, so items #3 & 4 probably don't apply to you.
I' believe the fattest tyre that can be fit on a ZMA is a 120 section (I'm probably wrong here though - I've seen some monstrosities). I however recommend that you look no further than a 11/90 or 4.00x18 section. There is no benefit beyond a point when upsizing on tyres, the negatives outweigh the positives by a large margin.

Replaced my stock tyres to michelin front and rear
Metro Tyres fitted michelin 45 110 at rear and made it tubeless
Guys need to know if its okay to use michelin as tubeless
are there any cons also need to know how much loss in mileage can i expect from 110 rear tyre
with stock tyres i was getting 45kms overall

Sundar,Originally posted by MavericK46 View Post^^I used HH-Idemitsu oil for the 100km change and the first service. Motul 30004T series is mineral-based man.
Im not gonna go for synth atleast until i breach 5k kms.
I wasn't happy with the HH oil as the bike continues to heat up considerably, hence the shift to Motul
It could be more of lean carb than the oil. Do a plug chop. Meanwhile, HHs are set up very lean for minimum emission. You could also throw the SAI away.

Go for Michelin Sirac 120/90/18". Ravi (ravi@17bhp) should be able to help you with this. I don't think you need to remove the chain cover also.Originally posted by livetoride View PostI am thinking of changing the stock tyre with a fat one, what is the fattest tyre i can fit on my zma ? knowing that i will have to obviously remove the chain cover, and will there be considerable diffrence in pickup and top speed ?
