  • My ZMA is doing fine. Last weekend I did more than 450km in a day that too at an average speed of above 80kmph. Touched 120kmph mark twice/thrice (still there was speed left). After this I feel my ZMA's engine has become smoother.
But, during that ride I felt little vibration at 80-84kmph (exactly 5-5.2rpm). The vibration (not severe though) still exists. Above or below that 80-84kmph mark that vibration disappears. Do not feel this vibration even at 110kmph. Never experienced this vibration before. any idea why this is happening?

FYI: My ZMA has done 3050km. Oil level is ok. using HH 10W30 4T oil. 2nd servicing was done at 1900km, 25 days back.

    • Jonak, it is common for all the Zmas. No need to worry. Very slight vibration.

One small advice, make sure u are suing HH 10w30 oil from Idemitsu. These days TideWater and BP are also supplying the same oil to HH. The reviews of these two are not that encouraging. If you do not get HH 10w30 from Idemitsu, try using Elf Eco which has good reviews by many. Alternatively you can use Gulf Pride 10w30 too.

        • Thanks Ravi for the info. I did not know this. I have a spare 900ml bottle of HH 10W30. Just checked it now and it's written "Specially formulated for HH by Tide Water Oil Co.(I) Ltd.
btw, which engine oil are you currently using Ravi?

I think tidewater is a good oil. Do not worry. I used Veedol Swift (from tidewater) once in my Zma. It was really good. You can go ahead and use that oil without any worries. Never use anything from BP.

Right now I am using Gulf Pride 20w40 oil, it is really good. I got a can of Elf 20w40 and I am going to try it next time. Reviews on this forum have been good with this oil.

Deepa, I have not changed to 9amp battery yet. Will change it soon. I think it goes well without any problem. Only thing is, the new battery is bigger than 7amp and you need to somehow make it to fit in the cabin.

              • That HH branded Tide Water Co oil is Veedol Take Off 4T. A very good oil.

Just keep Away from the BP Mak ones.

                • what about Castrol Power1? Is it good for Kzma?

                  • Its matches the requirements. But I wouldn't suggest it. Rather try Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T - fully synth 10W40.

                      • I ride a '05 zma..Not the R series. Company recommends a 20W50 grade for my bike. So if I go for an authorised service, which oil will they fill? A 20W40 or a 10W30?

This is like the Rs 1 Crore question in KBC

If you don't trust answers A, B & C then go with Option D - Buy a 20W40 oil can and make he SC guys change oil in front of you.

But there are no technical changes b/w the older bikes and the R series AFAIK!! So will it really harm my engine if they put a 10W30? Not that i will go for one but just curious.

Are you sure it is 20w50. Mine is 06 karizma and the manual says 20w40. I think yours is also 20w40.

U can aaraam say use 10w30 oil without any problem. Do not rack your head on this.
