Normally heres how I adjust my clutch freeplay.Originally posted by acs1207 View PostReplies in bold .
Press the clutch lever for about say 0.5~1cm and tighten the clutch such that when the clutch'll move more than 1cm the kicker will start to move freely.Last edited by ashwinprakas; 08-27-2011, 08:52 AM.Motorcycling Experience:

Sir, I have been using Gulf Pride 4t plus 20w 40 for the past 1200kms and living with this ticking sound for the past 2000kms. But soon after shifting to 20w40 oil this sound occurs occasionally not like which occurred often with HH's 10w30 oil. Anyways will be insisting the mechanics to work on this during my service.Originally posted by psr View PostIf the ticking sound goes off with mild revving then the adjustment is minimal..the reason for the engine heating is the crap HH 10w30 oil,.... change it to any JASO MA2 20w40 oil and see...bike will run without much heating at even 110 Kmph.
Thanks Sriram..even my parents insisted me to sell my Uni..but I was not ready to leave my boy since I believe and enjoy him alot. I like your love towards your RX!! Keep it up!"safety will be the sturdy child of terror, and survival the twin brother of annihilation"

If with Gulf pride 4T Plus 20w40 oil your engine heats up,you are either riding the bike harshly,or the Air Fuel Ratio is set lean..Originally posted by vivekarizma View PostSir, I have been using Gulf Pride 4t plus 20w 40 for the past 1200kms and living with this ticking sound for the past 2000kms. maybe due to lean afr check spark plug colour. another reason maybe harsh driving because this type of overheating is usually present during engine run in period but your bike has already clocked close to 3000 km.Originally posted by vivekarizma View PostSir, I have been using Gulf Pride 4t plus 20w 40 for the past 1200kms and living with this ticking sound for the past 2000kms. @ psr sir : sir what if vivek is referring the tick tick sound not because valve. I suspect it is the tensioner

Are you saying your bike is only 3K old? Thats almost brand new. Seems helluva problem for a new bike.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostHistory of my bike + Probs. am facing.
Bought 3k'kms ago. Changed cam tensioner @ 2.5k. Reached 3k today. Facing CHIL CHIL sound from today. SVC says its valve noise.
.....I know this's a common issue on ZMA's but now am facing this way more than usual, say every time I power on my bike.
Mine has done 23k so far and there is no issues to speak of.
Here is a history of parts replacement.
1. Front disc pads once @12k (worn out)
2. clutch cable replaced once (rust due to constant ride in rain)
3. Speedo cable replaced once (rust due to constant ride in rain)
4. Front brake light switch @ around 4k replaced once (kaput)
5. Air filter changed @ 12K once. Already has spare ones at home (No problem, just changed it as I felt it is about life of air filter)
6. Clutch Plates changed once @ 22.5K (No problem, just changed it because I feel it is about life of clutch plates)
7. One Rear bulb got fused, changed both anyway some 15k ago.
All else are still stock.
Some peculiar signs when bike was still new.
Tappet sound like tik, tik, tik used to be heard, It happens after a good ride and engine is hot.
Engine power lags a bit around 3 to 3.5k rpm.
Both disappeared after some time and never occurred again.
Got new Iridium spark plug lying idly as stock is still in excellent condition
.
Want to upgrade batteries but 2 1/2 years stock battery is still as good as new
Stock Chain & sprockets are also in excellent condition despite removing chain cover from day one. Already has spare ones
. Maybe will get chance to use them after another 10k.
Tyres...well I want to upgrade them, so guess I'll simply have to go ahead with it as I will be an old man before the stock wears out
. Oh yes, I did have a couple of punctures, and yes, rear tubes are new.
I find Hardness in changing gears depends both in engine oil and clutch cable tension. Either one can cause hardness. Changing oil will usually smoothen gear shift, Else adjusting the cable tension does the trick everytime.
Everything is humming perfectly as the day I got it.
I maintain my bike myself, I use to take it to service center just to get my papers stamped for warranty issues. Though I have to depend on Service center for major work like changing the clutch plates.
Some information on how I use my bike.
Been using only Speed petrol. Couple of times I have used normal, xTra premium and Power due to unavailability of speed immediately.
Been using Fully Synthetic since completing 6k. Castrol Power 1 Racing, Motul 300v and now Petronas Sprinta 50004T.
Regular attention are given to Chain and battery.
In two and a half years, the bike always starts at first click. No idling issues, no high rpm issues. No break down. Punctures doesn't count
.
Either I'm one lucky dude or I'm doing something right.

Most of the users just tend to ignore such issues. But for me, am abit paranoid, so every off beat matters to me.Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostAre you saying your bike is only 3K old? Thats almost brand new. Seems helluva problem for a new bike.

when i had to change my fairings i could only manage RHS sticker from a HH spare dealer
you may be lucky if some dealer may have those lying with him, although i like the strips ones better
