It's interesting how by looking at the photo and that too a long shot could determine the authenticity.

There are dealers sell genuine spares bought by placing orders with the factory, probably 247 motors is one of them.

      • Buying a Karizma-R from ASC ?

        Hi All,

I am planning to buy a ZMA-R in Bangalore. Two dealers near to where i live (C V Raman Nagar) are Millennium Motors and Bhagath Motors. Apart from this there is an ASC at walking distance. I had planned that once i get my bike i will be using this ASC for all services including the free ones. Is there any downside if i buy the bike from this ASC itself ? Have any one of you bought bike from ASC ? Please suggest.

I am targeting Diwali time for making the purchase

        Thanks,
        Shubham

        • For the past 500 kms my bike had a strange behavior of being good and poor in acceleration at different RPMs. A flat spot,or vibes, will appear at any time at any point in RPM,and was not happening always....suspecting Ignition issues I tried checking TPS with a DMM...Sure enough the extreme end showed 5K ohm and while throttle closed the resistance between cold and center connection showed 2 K ohms, while increasing throttle mid position the connection showed open circuit and full throttle showed 10 K ohms..The same kind of reading was seen in connection between the center to other extreme connection .This was a clear indication of loose contact, since in Karizma the TPS is a continuously variable Resistance of 5 K ohm value...much like the volume control of a Radio...so detached the TPS from Carb, and found no way to spray WD40 inside ...it is totally sealed..Then I found that ,where the TPS mechanically connect with the Throttle butterfly, there is a rubber seal around the shaft which, with a pin could be moved aside...so through this small gap sprayed WD 40 and operated the TPS with a small screwdriver a few times.I then measured the various resistance across the TPS and found it to be linear..
Mounted TPS on carb and carb on to engine and test drove the bike...Bike was smooth, and vibe free through the RPM range and I could easily accelerate bike to 80 Kmph in 400 Mts...
Do not try this if you are not skilled in doing this kind of work...Better to buy a new TPS and fix than this DIY,to ensure peace of mind.

I bought my bike from Nikhi Motors on Hebbal road which has ASC in its basement. I don't know about the suitability of buying from ASC. May be others can help.

Thanks a lot for the info. Though I am novice with bike electricals and mechanicals, so don't touch anything in case of problem, but your experience would help me tell the mechanic what to check for.

                  • Too much work in office so wasn't able to go through the forum for a week. Finally read some 15 pages of content today!

Got my carb cleaned yesterday. It was done by my same reliable mech. Lots of differences can be noticed now after the cleaning.
                    - The bike revs smoothly.
                    - Idling is better.
                    - Previously, at times the engine used to switch off when idling in signals. Even that problem is solved now.
                    - The overall sound of the bike seems to have changed and it sounds nice and smooth now!

@PSR sir: Got to see what all is inside the carb. Identified the slider. Could see some two small black dot kind of things on the base of it. Is this where we should drill the hole for the 'Carb hole slider mod'? What size hole should be drilled?

                    Headlights rise over the horizon.
                    Pierce the morning fog.
Cut through the clutter in our minds.

                      • Oil Leak Problem

Guys I have been having an oil leak problem in my bike for a couple of weeks now. Part no. 8 marked in the image, the door on the gear lever side of the head. There are two bolts which hold this in place. The threading was gone for one bolt slot. When I removed the head and had it worked upon last month, the threading was done in a lathe shop. The oil leak problem was not there after this and it started again a week after the engine work. We came to know that the threading for the other bolt slot is gone now. This is causing an oil leak now. Not much but the drops fly and hit my pants, shoes on the gear lever side. A bit annoying! I asked my mech and he told the only option would be to open it up again to do the threading or he asked me to try to live with it. PSR sir and others? Any suggestions?

Great! Bearing grease is a bit messy but the effects are definitely good.

If threading can be done, then i think its a good move..

Try applying Liquid Gasket like Three Bond after cleaning surface and tighten only to necessary level...Wait at least 3 hours for liquid gasket to heal....if it doesn't work ,have to dismantle head and do the same as before.
