Body work
Due to the accident in July I was planning to change the whole body of my bike. From headlight to fuel tank to side body panels(in short every fibre piece on the bike) but was worried about the cost involved. Then a few days back, my mechanic told me he has got a clue to a 2006 model scrapped karizma whose body parts are fine. He quoted 6k to change the headlight, fuel tank and body panels. Is it a fair deal?
BTW, whats would be the cost of new body? I was thinking of getting it in white if going for a new one. Suggestions please!!!!!!

If you're hell bend on doing it you can . But but but...is it really the GP shift pattern ? Just checked - it is . But is it good for every day riding ? In my opinion it makes better sense to kick down the lever to go down the gears in high speed braking situations . Better that way than trying to pull up the lever when your body weight is in the front . In GP , they know the course and except for unforeseen circumstances they won't have to brake except for turns . And they do sit up at turns when they do have to brake hard . Also the gear lever position is ( or has to be )different for GP .Originally posted by ashwinprakas View Post1 up rest down.

To do it I guess you have to take out the circled part and insert it in a position which is 180 degrees to it's original position . Then you have to practice umpteen number of times - else you will be down shifting instead of up shifting at full throttle !!sigpic

White's the color you normally see - 2 reasons for that .First , we wont notice it if it is normal color or may even mistake it for a high powered halogen ( if it's not projector type) . Second - ones who fit it want to get noticed and hence fit bluish white colored HID .
See pic I had posted earlier or Google for 'HID color temperature' in images .
Here's another pic..
One more thing ... am going for LS2 helmet by next month ( as per availability ) else cross helmet ... my concern is ... does LS2 helmet has clear visor instead of tinted one ??? coz i ride during night too ... or you can say post evening !!!Solo Rider

And I like this methode cause always kicking the shifter down takes less effort than kicking it up, and that'll be beneficial especially in a bike like ZMA which has a mind of its own. It also doubles up as a toe protector, Cause normally when we spill our toe will be below the shifter and tend to get swished, but in this case the shiter takes all the beating. Am waiting for PSR sirs directions for doing this cause am not exactly sure how to reverse the link rod on a ZMA.
Cant say precisely cause I ride mixed. Anyways my worsts 23kmpl and my bests 48kmpl. Both achieved at 4 turns of the AFR.Originally posted by discoverboy2612 View Posthey can anybody here tell me what is the fuel cunsumption on Highway as well as in city of the new Karizma R???

When you are thinking of the 220cc class bikes and above you should be worried about power, stability and braking...If the need is Good FE don't go above 150cc....better to select a 125cc.Originally posted by discoverboy2612 View Posthey can anybody here tell me what is the fuel cunsumption on Highway as well as in city of the new Karizma R???

One thing I forgot to mention is, if you plonk in HID in the stock reflector, the light will be more scattered & will blind the oncoming traffic so HID's are best with projectors.Originally posted by ankss View Postohkay ... thank you for the info !!!! i didnt know about all these stuff ... thanks once again to both of you ...

Yes LS2 & Cross both come with plain visors. While picking up the helmet, you will have to check with the dealer.
I get around 41-42kmpl with combined riding & mine is a Jan 2011 model.Originally posted by discoverboy2612 View Posthey can anybody here tell me what is the fuel cunsumption on Highway as well as in city of the new Karizma R???

Shouldn't take a minute to find out. I have removed the rod several times while cleaning, though the thought of putting them upside down never occured. Besides I'm in no mood to unlearn gear shift pattern. On other hand I just might look into it sometime later to whet my curiosity.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostToday went and had a look at my ZMA's gear link rod, and I believe it cant be done, not yet sure, hoping there's someone who could prove me wrong.
My toes/feet never touch the gear shifter except while when changing gears as I rest my feet from the ball if my feet on the foot pegs. I withdrew my feet as soon as gear change is executed. Same for rear brakes. So the idea of protection does not arise.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostAnd I like this methode cause always kicking the shifter down takes less effort than kicking it up, and that'll be beneficial especially in a bike like ZMA which has a mind of its own. Reflector burn issues with few members' Karizmas
Hi friends,
got some time at my home for coming online...
I want to ask that even many cars are also using their reflectors made of plastic(or whatever i mean similar level as that of our Karizma) and even then they are using 90/100 w bulbs without any issues.
Also, I think local bulbs might also make things worse, as I've used Philips Xtreme Vision 55/60 w for many kms ....no issues with reflectors yet! and infact many members are using higher wattage bulbs....So why are only few ppl getting these problems?
Future planning for an HID(after I'm bored with the current setup)
What will be the best deal with cost and light both? Will projectors cost a lot?
I mean please give the range also.
I've heard and seen also that HIDs take quite time to warm up and then they come to their full glow, so how to cope up with say you've to use pass light in daytime??!! or suppose you've to switch from low beam to high beam without such a time dealy?Last edited by sunny_; 09-28-2011, 04:24 PM.
