I don't think it is possible to slot in the slide wrongly...The rubber skirt attached to the slide has an Orientation Key to fit on the top of the carb. If you fit it any other way the rubber stub will not fit and will keep the top from seating properly.

Will you explain this? I mean, what to do in emergency braking?

And I'd like to invite the comments and views of all the experienced Karizma riders over there, what would you do in case of emergency braking (going over 100kph and suddenly a cow/dog jumps in front, and like cases) ?

      • And returned from the trip to Mandarmani (a beach 200kms from Calcutta), with my cousin, both on their Karizma R (mine black and his yellow) ran our bikes through the beach..... We were the centre of attention splashing water and revving hard..... (somehow managed to avoid the engine stall )
Ok, enough fun, now time for some serious replacements/queries

        1. Chain set
Thanks for some buddies here for their replies about it.

        2. Disc brake pads
Thanks to @psr and @curse helping me find out that the pads need a replacement. Please post the cost and any suggestions regarding whether going for original disc pads for Karizma or any else (heard somewhere here that pads of diff. bikes are direct fit, how efficient are they?)

        3. Carb slide problem
Huge thanks to @psr sir helping me deal with this problem which I'd never have found out by myself as I'm a noob.. Although it happened only once, should I ask the mechanic to check/clean/adjust it in the next service(this Saturday)?

        4. Headlamps and aux lamps
definitely going for a higher wattage bulb(55/60w), but additionally I'd like to pull @imjoshee attention again and I'd like to ask him to upload pics with aux lamps ON and cost and where to get them (hella comet 550) ?

        5. Chain maintnnc.
Please please give your valuable suggestions about how to take care of the drive chain, it gets loose and I've to adjust it everytime I go to the SC. And as my Karizma will be having a new chain set, what are the do's and dont's to avoid chain/sprocket wear frequently) ?

        6. Speedometer
Again confused as the figures on the odometer are not changing normally, but the trip meter is now showing 10.0 km(speedo went wrong when tripmeter was 9.6km) and the total also showing 15513km (earlier 15512km)
Since the problem, I've ridden it around 700kms..... Is there any way to edit the total km reading so that I can somehow manage my odometer to show the exact kms covered yet as it is missing those 700 kms?????

The Ninja 250 Pads with more bite is suitable..but more expensive..may be 5 K ..not sure of actual price

Like the saying goes never trouble, trouble ,until trouble, troubles you..The work involved in clearing this problem is simple , but requires precise dextrous hands, and an understanding of the work..otherwise your bike will be grounded and may even need a new carb.

Using Castrol or any Good Bearing Grease preferably with Lithium, will improve chain longevity and reduce need for frequent adjustment...Additionally not indulging in quick acceleration will increase chain and sprocket life

First check the speedo cable functioning, then the electro unit to which the speedo cable is attached...if everything is ok then there is an Electronic Circuit problem in the Console.

No way this can be done as it is electronic and inside the circuitry in the Console.

At SC, they use to lubricate the chain with used engine oils. Ok, I'll enquire about the grease. Thanks

I think it was posted a few pages back...about 1,200/- approximately, and make is Nissin from HH spares outlet...RTR is 350/- and ASK is 110/-

Thats what troubles me.. When RTR or any other (below Rs 500) pads are a direct fit (say), then whats the use in going for the Nissin one paying Rs 1200? I mean any major difference? Please throw some light over this.

Do not go for the ASK pad even though they are the OE suppliers..Nissin pads may not show heat fade and will last longer, whereas the RTR pads may wear out faster...Apart from brand value, the material used for the pads also contribute to the cost..

Since our home made CruizeControl(Patented to ashwinprakas) is activated we cant de-accelerate, so since the choke acts as the engine kill switch, sudden yanking will kill the engine.

Grab the front as hard as you can, that too at the tip for better leverage and when the speed reaches 60 without releasing the front gradually apply rear at an increasing rate and when the speeds inside 40 -
                      a. If your upright then keep going and release the front a fraction of a second before you come to a halt.
                      b. If you'r even slightly leaning to one side then release the front alone gradually and a fraction before you come to a halt, pump the front lightly till it comes to an end.

i did'nt look for the orientation and simply fitted it.anyway i corrected this morning and the carb is back to itself. i also bought a fuel filter to use with the carb since there was a lot of dust accumulation in the bowl.
