  • Before the biggest trip for my bike, to Karnataka around 2000km, thoroughly serviced her with new clutch plates with new Sprinta synthetic oil and new cone set. My mechanic took the help of a car accessories wala to install car horn relay to my bike. He opened the left switch gear assembly to check for the wiring contacts of horn. The next day we started to the trip of my bike (and me) and rode all the day without any problem. Ballary to Chalkere (around 200 km), we happened to ride this route in night. It was a hill area with lots of vegetation around. The road is well marked for night riding and the ride was awesome and we were in heaven (a P220 and R15 were companions for my bike in the tour). We took a brake for 10 min and R15 started first and then my bike. The p220 took some time and started after me (anyway it is gonna cross my bike in the middle). For an opposite coming vehicle, I pressed the pass switch and immediately every thing went blank. All lights were off and not working, including the neutral light. I parked my bike side by. I stranded in the middle of a forest with not a single vehicle in the vicinity. I was literally scared and was clueless what happened to my bike. I was thinking what happened to the most reliable bike of India. It was my luck that P220 started later than me and I was able to stop it by waving the florescent Nero Jacket lighting well. I was able to start the engine with kick start and was assured that I can ride the bike though the electricals are not working.

Later we found that the fuse has gone. I know where the fuse box is and never bothered till then whether I have any spare fuse. Luckily I got one (other one is missing and I do not know why). The reason for the blown fuse is, improper fitment of switch gear box. Throughout the trip, I never touched the pass switch again. Later at Sagar, I found one big HH showroom and bought 8 spare fuse. for 40 bucks.

After this i realized engine would continue to work whatever happens to the bike. Recently my bike stalled again in the PowerHunt G2G ride and I was cool, as I know engine would start anyway.

My bike's odo now is 37000k and, my pass switch is yet to be repaired.

hey bro, got my ELANOR(thats what i call her) today.I was in love with her the first time i cranked her,a very beautiful thump it has gotJust awesome..I love this bike man..

ABOUT MY EXP TODAY(Sorry for the awefully long description, but just cud'nt control):-
After the Delhi g2g today, decided to get myself a ZMA.I felt the other competitors, the R-1-5 or the 220 were not for me.So it had to be ZMA.

Went to the showroom with my loved ones to help me choose a good color. After discussion, decided to settle for black finally. Took about a few hours before i could lay my hands on her. Exchanged my old A-150, paid the rest amount and got her.I just love it, i am in love once again

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE BIKE:-
                        1) I felt there were vibrations in the front fairing, which may will subside with time, hopefully
                        2) The bike picks up revs pretty quickly, so one has to have constant eyes on the tacho, not to cross 4K.
                        3) Gear shifts are hard, because its a new bike. Will even out better after the service i guess. It took me a good fight to put the bike in neutral in the starting 4-5kms. Have got a fraction better.
                        4) There is a squeaking noise, will inspect to see where it is from tomm.

PICS TO FOLLOW:-Please excuse me for the low quality pics, clicked from my mob(E-61i)

                        Happy riding,

                        • Congrats man ZMA Rocks

I have completed 450kms till now on my new ZMA and will take her for servicing after i complete 500kms

You are correct about the gear being hard however while downshifting try to give a little bit of throttle and gears will be a little smoother
Front fairing does vibrate a little even i am expecting it to be gone after my 1st service
change the oil after 100km use HH oil till runn in period atleast

Dont drive it above 4k till 1000kms

                          Enjoy your ride

                              • Proper break in for motorcycles

Guys, I have been following this thread for quite a while and decided to post my own opinion after reading many posts on proper way of breaking in a new engine.

I bought my ZMA during Nov'08 and my odo now reads 6000+ kms. I did not keep my rpm limits within 4k during the initial 1000 kms . I followed the motoman's guide at the following link Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power.

Driving as per manual recommendation would cause glazing of engine's bore walls which could only be fixed by opening it up. I have a gut feeling that bike manufacturers want to perform engine jobs on your bike as soon as possible(which is quite costly), that is why they recommend driving smooth and keep it below certain speed limits.

Experts please pour in your comments.
