Engine Oil
My bike has done 20k kms.
This time I used Petrona Sprinta 5100 Fully Sunthetic Engine Oil.
First time Fully Synthetic Engine Oil in the bike.
I bought 2, bottles. We put around 1.2 liters oil in the bike.
The bike has done 800kms on this oil.
The bike seemed to run a bit heavy, also the Top Speed dropped from 140 to 130.
Yesterday I went to the Service Station. I asked them how much oil do they put while servicing. They told me that they put 900 ml oil in bikes. Also they are using 10W-30W oil for all bikes.
I had read somewhere that 10-30 is for new Zma-R and for the old one (Which is mine) recommended is 20W-40W. I dont understand this though there is no difference in the engine of both the bikes.
Then we checked the dip stick the engine oil was way over the required leve. The Supervisor said that only 1 liter oil should be put in the bike and some gap should be left So i removed around 120ml of oil.
Lets C what impact it has on the bikeRachit K Dogra

While reading I was wondering how come put 1.2L of engine oil. Thought you have drained the total engine oil by opening the engine. How the hell on earth you put 1.2L of oil?? This is too much of oil than the Karizma can drinkOriginally posted by rachitkdogra View PostMy bike has done 20k kms.

.
When drained, karizma can drain only .9L of engine oil and with some shaking you can drain max 1L (the total engine oil capacity is 1.3L).
You can happily use 10w30 oil in old karizma too. No problems.
By the way, tell us how the bike performs with this synthetic oil.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Ravi, Now I am also surprised. I drained the full engine oil and then started the engine of the bike for 1 min. And then I put the new engine oil. It took one bottle full and some 200 ml more. I am not sure how this happened.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostWhile reading I was wondering how come put 1.2L of engine oil. Yeah!! I was very happy with the 10W-30W oil that Honda service centers put.
The top speed has gone down from 140 to 130.
The bike just appears to run a bit heavy. Very minutely though.
I think these might be due to Quantity of Engine Oil.
There appeared absolutely no effect on Engine Heating.
The bike became a bit more smoother when engine used to heat up.
I have drained around 100 ml of oil. The bike runs normal now. Not anymore Heavy.
I am not sure of this heaviness thing. It might be in my head only.
Have to try the top speed yet.Rachit K Dogra

^^ Rachit - Would recommend you get your bike checked properly to ensure the piston / cylinder are fine. Not sure what happened when you ran the engine for a min without any oil at all. Typically, to drain out some more residual oil, I crank the kick start by hand 4-5 times when the ignition is off. You can't drain all the oil - you have to remove the crank case cover for that. For immediate sale - PM me for a quote and/or more info - xbox 360 elite edition plus an assortment of game CD's.

Rachit, definitely the excess oil shows some effect on performance. I have used this oil for a 2000km trip. It performed really well at higher speeds. I felt a bit of hard gear shifts, so I came back to normal mineral oil. I do not exactly know if the hard gear shifts are because of the Synthetic oil.
Ride for some good kilometers and give us the review.
If you pour oil, the bike takes even 1.5L also.
Next time just use only .9 to 1L.

Thanks Ravi. I will keep that in mind. Now since I have reduced the Oil in the engine.

There will be a little noise, but not too much. Check the slackness and lubrication. It will definitely improve.Originally posted by saif71184 View PostOhh...And i was blaming my friend's ZMA

I did not see this previously. Thought you have run the engine for a minute before removing the engine oil. How come you run engine without engine oil???Originally posted by rachitkdogra View PostI drained the full engine oil and then started the engine of the bike for 1 min.
You are truly crazy and insane.
