New Tyres Needed
Hi All,
I have been following this thread for a while. I own a Jan 2006 Karizma and have done 12100 Kms till now.
In the last month or so I have been noticing drop in grip on the road. Partly because the bike slipped when I was trying to take a turn a bit aggressively.
The treads on the tyres seem fine, but somehow I have lost faith on them. I am looking to change both the tyres now. Please suggest me a good pair for my ride and the indicative prices.
Regards,
Sukesh.

^^^ looks like it is a tad too early for tyres to loose grip... pls check if you are running on prescribed air pressure and that the tyres are not overinflated...
If you want to change anyway, pls check the discussion in this thread and the tyres thread...

what are the registration and insurance charges for new bike in Mumbai. becoz he is saying 56k without registration n insurance which i will have to do myself.
i am thinking it is going too much out of buget so much better i should settle for 2nd karizma. What are your opinions?

You will pay insurance based on the invoice price. For road tax, I would expect that you'd have to pay as per the showroom price in Mumbai. For both road tax & insurance, expect to pay as much as anyone else does.
Once you buy, do tell us what the paperwork says.

i am not going for it. it is to complicating and also going out of Budget. Registration and insurance will cost appro. 10k. so it will go to 66k. Also the headacde of getting it registred in Mumbai and that to a Govt. office, no ways am i doing that. Above all i don't the person who will be giving me the bike i just know that he is my friend's friend, so if any JHOL is there i would be in problem. So better i would go for a 2nd hand Karizma and get it a bit modded. i would be more happier that way.

if you are saving 20K over a new bike may be all this is worth taking the pain... if the bike is not fiddled with.
As such, you need to visit the RTA office and get the bike transferred onto your name even for a second hand purchase... that makes no difference.

Yes I know that i will save 20k but if after buying the bike i come to know that it was illegally done, and registration becomes a problem i will lose the bike as well as the money (that to 56K is not a small amount).
Also getting 2nd hand bike transfered is not that a headache, some RTO agent can do it for you. I can find out some known person there.
but i cannot tell him to do any illegal work if the new bike is not proper.

No offense, but you may as well speak out and tell us all you know if you want advice. Seems to me you know too little about this 'deal' and you're sounding us out for advice - that we cannot give - since we don't know the facts either.Originally posted by rakowli View PostYes I know that i will save 20k but if after buying the bike i come to know that it was illegally done, and registration becomes a problem i will lose the bike as well as the money (that to 56K is not a small amount).

This is not exactly the sort of discussion I'd like to have in a Karizma ownership thread.
Edit: I was thinking about this too good to be true deal - it sounds very much like someone is trying to scam you out of 56k for nothing but an empty promise. Proceed with caution!Last edited by nirvan; 04-17-2009, 08:10 PM.
