Not only an engine thing. The torque available in each gear depends on the gear ratios na. correct me if i am wrong.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Postcan't say torque is less, because torque is an engine thing ... all depends on rpm finally!
1st Three Gears are close ratioed, 4th & 5th are somewhat longer ... So, when you shift to 4th, you would downshift when a stray dog or cow invades the road, who are the culprits of your mileage problem also ...

Karizma-R (A few questions)
This goes out to all the owners of the new and old Karizma, have a few set of questions since I just got a Black Karizma R last week..
a.) Is there a way to install a leg guard on the Karizma without removing the engine cowl?
b.) The gears of my bike are quite hard and rigid. I was told that it would become alright after the first service is done. Is that true?
c.) A runinn guide for the Karizma if possible..
Guys pls help me out, am a newbie in regards to the ZMA.

Iam not a ZMA owner but just wanted to share some info that i know
a.) This can be answered by a ZMA owner
b.)Yes the gear box is generally a little harder for new bikes, it will get sorted out after the run-in period (1st or 2nd service)
c.)A short suggestion would be to follow the owners manual
..Try n keep the RPM below the 4k range. Suggest you to use fuel from the same outlet (cos quality might differ at each pump) find the best in your city and stick to it atleast till your run-in is over.

@Blade7: Here is my reply.
a) A few out here had installed the crash guard. There were a quite some pictures of ZMAs with crash guard, before the server crash. All those pages have gone now. I hope some of those ZMA owners will help you with this. IMO, a single bar (rod) crash guard should fit easily with some minor (gas) weldings. Btw, I haven't installed any in all my 4 years of riding my ZMA.
b) I believe you've got the answer. Check the bike post first service.
c) As for the running guide... the normal rule will do - do not cross 60kmph. If that sounds too slow for you, BREAK-IN! I know quite a few folks out here who have hardly done any running-in.
All men dream, but not equally. Those that dream at night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act upon their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. - T. E. Lawrence

2.Mine was hard till the second service and then it has been butter smooth. My friends zma's gear box was smooth from the beginning. So i guess depends on the bike
3.first 300kms keep it with in 60 with the next 700 kms keep it with 70 with short burst of 80.Do not keep the bike running for a long time , as the engine tends to heat up a lot during the run in period.after a 1000 if you want to continue the run in process do so till 2k .Afterthat slowly increase speeds by 10 km/hr and you should be good to go.I kept the bike under 80 for 1100 kms and started ripping.Change the engine oil twice in the first 1000 kms if possible.
