Model : Jun 2007
Km : 16 K Approx
One of the issues is- i hear a distinct chik chik sound whenever i start my ZMA it is there only between 2k-3k RPMand goes off beyond, it was low few days back but is growing clear everyday. Do i really need to press the panic button yet? Not sure where is it coming from but is very much in sync with the engine revinn....however if i dont engage the bike in gear and open thr throttle it is not there 9 out of 10 times...can anybody help me diagnose this...I put a Motul 10w30 mineral last time and it was 0.9 litres only however i i did not drain the oil from clutch assembly, could this be because of lesser quantity of oil bike has done around 3k kms on the same oil.
I had a crash and after that the Disc pads were gone surprisingly and then got them replaced(OEM), still no less than three months the creeking sound from the disc (while rolling too) is back. what could this be?
As i have mentioned my bike has done 16K any routine changes or checkup or tweakings which you guys might recommend.
Do you recommend a wheel alignment where to get it done in mumbai and what should be the cost.
Lastly Plz Plz Plz Plz i badly need someone from mumbai to pass on the contacts of a good mechanic who can take care of my bike as i am new enough to mumbai when it comes to knowing a good bike mechanic, and of course need to desp get myself a better Lid, few good place to look out for in mumbai.
I know it might be a pain in a@@ answering a laundry list of questions, however pls pls be patient and try to resolve as many as u gentleman can.
Thanks!!
Woowww...quite a post. Lets start one by one
1. chik chik sound: Are you sure it is chik chik? or is it tick tick? there is a small difference. If it is tick tick, it is possible that your tappets may need to be adjusted for clearance. If it is chik chik, it may be related to the timing chain. In any case, you need to hit the panic button and take your bike to your reliable mechanic before chik chik becomes crash boom. Your oil level should be between the upper and lower mark on a cold engine. If it is, then the noise is not due to oil deficiency.
2. The creakin sound form the disk can be due to some small pebbles that are stuck between the pad and the disk. Clean the caliper, pads and you should be back in business. It may also be a case where the pads have glazed and may need a minor sandpaper treatment to get the same in workin condition.
3.At 16K kilometers, you need to refer to the owner's manual and see what all has been marked for replacement, cleaning, inspection and top-up in the periodic maintenance chart. Maybe Inder can help you
@Inder: Paaji...please help
4. Your HH dealer should be able to balance wheels (I do not think ZiMA needs wheel alignment) Cost of Labour and weights that are attached may vary from dealer to dealer
5. One of the best ZiMAs that I have seen from Mumbai is Shiva's ZiMA. Perhaps Shiva can help you with the mechanic bit.
Hope this clarifies.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

In a Pulsar 220's engine, there is an arrangement where used/circulated oil is passed thru a centrifugal filter and oil strainer. This keeps minute solid impurities gathered in the oil, within the filter and ensures a fresh and clean supply of oil to the engine.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostSirjee....could you be plz a bit elaborative in this...!!!
I have been informed the the R15 also has a filter arrangement.
Just wanted to know from ZiMA owners whether the ZiMA has some mechanism to filter oil.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Temporary solution which you can do is just rub them with sand paper so that the dirt(which might be causing the noise) gets cleaned....and if that also doesnt help will have to change the disc pads again(though they dont wear off so easilyOriginally posted by zmagic View PostI had a crash and after that the Disc pads were gone surprisingly
and then got them replaced(OEM), still no less than three months the creeking sound from the disc (while rolling too) is back. what could this be?
)....!!
Some of the pointers(at 16K kms):Originally posted by zmagic View PostAs i have mentioned my bike has done 16K any routine changes or checkup or tweakings which you guys might recommend.
1) Get the oil level checked(Would suggest stick to only HH oil 10W30 or Motul Mineral based oil coz rest of the oils make the gearing a bit hard).
2) Minor electricals checked.
3) Brake pads and brake oil.
4) If possible upgrade to tubless tyres(as punctures at high speeds can be dangerous). But dont upgrade the profile and size....as it may hamper the performance.
5) Tappet settings(have to get it done at regular intervals...coz it keeps on coming quite frequently).
6) Get all the fairing screws tightned to reduce the vibration from fairing as they may get loose over a period of time....due to potholes..!!
7) Upgrade to good headlight bulb, mostly of 55/60W....!!
Currently i can think of only these many...
Regarding the Mechanic thingy....karizma owners from Mumbai would be of help to you...!! So, plz get in touch with them.....here are their ids...Originally posted by zmagic View PostLastly Plz Plz Plz Plz i badly need someone from mumbai to pass on the contacts of a good mechanic who can take care of my bike as i am new enough to mumbai when it comes to knowing a good bike mechanic, and of course need to desp get myself a better Lid, few good place to look out for in mumbai.
1) spiderweb
2) shiva_zma
You can PM them and get to know abt the contact details and all of their Mechs...!!

For this will have to check the user manual or get it clarified from Amjad...!! Coz i dont know abt this..!!Originally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostIn a Pulsar 220's engine, there is an arrangement where used/circulated oil is passed thru a centrifugal filter and oil strainer. Thanks a Lot folks
Thanks a lot Inder, Niranjan and yes of course Jonak who helped to set the ball rolling.
Niranjan so it is the good ol tappet sound, been there done that in that case as my CBZ old had the same issue, still remember tappet tightening one of the mandate during its service... Thank You
Inder i have actually got a Castrol Power 1 Racing and will put it this time around, although have another Motul 10w30 already in stock but somehow felt like getting carried away on the marketing bandwagon and try CP1R out as i think all the people on this community are also all praises for it....will put it by the weekend and let you guys know how do things fare up (only in case you guys already dont know, remote chance though
). Thank you again for giving a laundry list of things needed to be checked, will note them down and ensure everything gets attended to in the next service and yes will surely get the fairing tightened it shakes a lot.
I was thinking of getting new tyres for her for a long time now, the MRF has got puncture at least 10-12 times which one would you recommend amongst tubeless? Pirelli? Michelin?
Why dont HH guys give ZMA the same treatment as Yams give to their R's and F's, i mean sit down with MRF and tell them what they want from them and get ZMA a better footwear and by this i only mean better cuz otherwise the current ones are just fine.
Per the headlight, already Got Phillips as most of the guys in earlier discussion have recommended it.
Biggest problem is will have to trust HH service to get all the things done as per recommendations, still dicy though had a bad exp. in Pune at the shivaji nagar HH service center, i thnk they dont really pay attention. thats why i need a trusted mechanic. How do i PM anybody on this community?
Thanks a tonne for being patient with me and answering my queries.

Are you in Pune or Mumbai? If Pune, then the best workshop to head for is Bike Gurus at Mayur Colony, Kothrud. Meet Amjad Bhai there...Inder's ZiMA and my earlier P150 (and all other vehicles too) were exclusively serviced by him. He does have a magical touch.Originally posted by zmagic View Post

Pirelli lasts a very short period of time as it is of comparitively short time ma be some good 3-4 K kms...!!!Originally posted by zmagic View PostI was thinking of getting new tyres for her for a long time now, the MRF has got puncture at least 10-12 times which one would you recommend amongst tubeless? And dont know abt Michelins...!! will have to check whether anyone using it....
You can try the MRF Zappers in tubless category...i believe they are the best ones for the Indian conditions..
Ok cool...but is it 100W one or 60W one..?Originally posted by zmagic View PostPer the headlight, already Got Phillips as most of the guys in earlier discussion have recommended it.

) owners: There is an oil strainer+centrifugal filter in the 220 and I have heard that there is a filter in an R15. Does the ZiMA have any such filter?
