Haven't whacked open the throttle so far. Won't do it till 2.5k kms.
2.5k kms is good enough right..?
I kinda agree with that logic. The 10W30 oil distinctly cause the engine to rev more freely than the 20W40.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostMay be this has to do with the 10W30 oil too... what do you say?
Rode an older Zma the other day at the SC, which was fed the 'Honda-Idemitsu' 20W40 oil at the owners insistence and found it to reluctant to pick up revs.
There are two elaborate rubber fitments at either end of the console. Check if one has fallen off or moved.Originally posted by raghavishere View Postdone it already

If yes to either of the above cases, head to the SC and give em hell !

Bro..i spoke to the guys about ignition timing and stuff cause a friend of mine told me the same thing...but they still insisted that it would be carbon accumulation around the valve..Originally posted by jayprashanth View PostBlade7,
Knocking could also be due to an over advanced ignition timing or a spark plug with it's gap set too close. A dirty carb/worn out jets/wrong float level all leading to a lean condition also could be the culprit. So, before opening the engine, these things are worth checking. Since, you mentioned it happens on a hot engine, I guess it has more to do with the ignition than anything else.
Cheers,
Jay

Hey Guys, Did a 900 km trip on my bike last weekend. You can check out the logs and the photos in the tourer section. The name of the thread is Loner Junior goes to Binsar.
Now the update.
Got the bike on 13th feb,2009 and it has done 4600km on the odo. It performed brilliantly on the ride and is damn comfortable for long hauls. Was cruising at 80-90km/hr with ocassional speeds of 100-110 km/hr with no issues at all.
Had one problem though of the engine heat. Whenever i got on to the bike after a break, i could feel the heat on my legs. Is there any solution to this?????

Congrats for the lone long ride. Happy to see you have enjoyed it to the fullest. The heating problem is very common and I have got the same for many times, but not always. As far as I know, just ignore it. Next time make sure u use HH engine oil from Idemitsu and not BP (if you are using the HH's engine oil).Originally posted by anshul uniyal View PostHey Guys, Did a 900 km trip on my bike last weekend. Definitely, but now a days the gear shift is becoming a problem. Sometimes, I can't downshift to lower gears after engaging a road hump. All I do is keep trying till i get the shift. Does anyone experience that?
Also, any info where can i get a bike cover in Bangalore? I am using a bedsheet to cover my bike right now
. The HH showroom guys told me that the cover they have does not cover the bike completely

A small but valuable advice Krishna. Do not try to downshift the gears without blipping the throttle. Means , before you downshift just give throttle and then immediately downshift. Caution, do not downshift when you blip the throttle.Originally posted by krishnadevanur View PostDefinitely, but now a days the gear shift is becoming a problem. Thanx Ravi. I cruise between 60 - 90 Km/h speed. Was just curious to know, bcoz it reaches 90 in no time. I waz thinking when i attain a speed of 90 Km/h, the true speed should be atleast- 5 Km/h & u have confimed it. So 85 Km/h. Pretty good.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View Post60 kmph speedo = 58 kmph true

With the new tyre I did not check but before,Originally posted by inder.cool View Post^ Ravi, could you plz list down the speeds at various rpm levels..?
4k = 60 kmph
5k = 80 kmph
6k = 100 kmph
7k = 115 kmph
Bike will pull sedate after this and with a bit of pushing after long distance it reaches 130 at 8k to 8.5k rpm.
Below 4k rpm, I did not notice much. I will see today.
