i got freaked when someone in the other thread told

^^^ you cannot check everything mate... how ever, make sure there are no scratches anywhere on the body. Before they write up the documents, select the bike (if there is an option), ask them to pour in some petrol, fire up the engine and listen to the sound. If any different kind of noises or mis-firing stuff (though very rare) heard then reject taking delivery.
ZMA is bigger and is more expensive than the Uni. So, even the parts would be more expensive. That apart, if you maintain it well there would not be any issues that burn a hold in your pocket. Of course, the timing chain problem is one notorious thing we keep hearing about the Karizma but I guess that too isn't that a common now a days. So, just chill, enjoy the very good biking experience your Karizma would give you and don't crash (yes, it is expensive)

Hey Maniac,
Congrats for getting the Zma-R. I cannot tell you what to check for. Only thing is see if each and every part is shining and spanking new
. Generally, Karizma's are not given for test ride these days, so the probability of getting a test ride bike is very very low.
Ride the bike at the time of delivery and see whether is good or not.
Regarding the run-in please go through the last 10 pages and you will the answers.
You can use 60/55w Osram Nightbreaker or Silverstar as headlight bulb.
Karizma has less maintenance till you maintain it good. If you need to replace parts, they are expensive.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

1). Inspect the bike in sunlight if possible. Check for signs of damages on all panels, tank, fairing. Touch-up paint application will show up as patches of a different shade than the bikes colour.
2). And definitely insist on seeing the bike in person before registration etc. A day earlier if possible.
3). Do not go throttle-happy with the bike the moment you leave the showroom. Its tempting, but a wipeout is something you definitely do not want on a Zma !
Happy riding. Like pkm told me when i was buying the Zma: "JET, SET, GO !!!"
Cheers !I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

thanks hydbiker , ravi and maverick46........
ravi sir........ at my place ... zma-r are given for test rides ...[ although they claimed they dont give zma test rides but gave it specially to me
]
when u demand for test rides ... they are brought from the godown ... the same place where booked n unbooked vehicles both are kept and u cant go there........... i took a test ride of both cbz and the zma -r and both were booked by someone........... that is very bad n trust breaking on the side of these people !!!! ......... they let someone else rip ur new bike at 80 or more when its not allowed also...... but who cares when their sales is maintained

. and u wont blive ..... when i was riding the cbz i found something wrong with the gear box.... i was thinking ki its a new one ... may its the case with all cbz 's .... but still asked him.... he said " sir gearbox mein problem hain ... its kinda faulty
"... i was pitying the poor guy who bought it..... and also ripped the zma which belong to another poor chap!!!! i simply dont understand that y cant such big dealers keep separate test ride vehicles ... [ yeah they are big here ]
thats y i was thinking of finding a way to find whether a vehicle is test ridden or no
but alas .... there is no way to it
except the odo which obviously is dewired
.
btw..... is the engine all dry when a new bike is brought up..... like here in bajaj ... new bikes are only used wid something like a injection syringe that is directly connected from outside giving fuel supply [ ps: i dont know the name of that thing
] ........... again the tremendously huge bajaj also not having separate test ride vehicles
i think this is because distributors n dealer dont wanna waste profit on one bike also...... so i think the companies shud look into this matter n provide separate test ride vehicles free to this selfish people manHope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

Sayan, I do not have any personal experience with CP1R. We have one happy customer who is using CP1R in CBZ xtreme. I have used synthetic oils in Zma and found them to be good only at higher speeds. So, I am back to normal mineral oil.
I am supposed to get one can of CP1R free, and if so, I will use it soon in my zma and see how it performs.

Jonak, one of our xbhp member, Kriss, got 3 CP1R cans for participating in Castrol PowerHunt. He was one of the participant from Hyderabad in the mega event in Delhi.
I persuaded him to give me one.
If you want you can try him.

Hi Just got my new red Zma
I sold my R15 and got ZMA (Had my reasons posted in What bike section earlier)
Man the gears are very hard
I did 100 kms and changed the oil to HH manufactured by BP that was the only oil i found in my area
is it ok to use HH 10-30 oil by BP cause i has read in previous post that this oil is not good (will change in around 500km if required)
also guys from mumbai can u please tell me which HH service center should i do the 1st service
As earlier i owned R15 these are the difference i found in ZMA and R15
1.R15 gears are smooth from the start
2.R15 has aggresive riding style ZMA has more relaxed riding style
3.Power is evenly distributed in zma r15 power kicks in after 5rpm (my ZMA still in running period so did not drive above 3.5rpm till now)
4.Height of ZMA is good and ideal for indian road conditions
5.ZMA suspension is softer and takes offroad with an ease i struggled a little with my R15 on offroad terrain
6.Zma has good room for a pillion rider as wheelbase is larger than r15
7.backseat of r15 is small compared to ZMA
8.ZMA engine tends to get hot compared to R15(liquid cooled engine)
9.ZMA is raw power R15 is power+good handling
10.ZMA Stock tyres are a downside and will need a change
11.R15 stock tyres sticks like Glue
12.finding parking space for ZMA is easy compared to find paking for R15 (Mainstand advantage)
All in all R15 is a racer and ZMA is a perfect Tourer

Congrats first Dreamz. All the notes you have written are very much true, except that engine heat. Because the engine is new, you tend to get excess heat in traffic. It will be solved later. Even the gears would become smoother after you put some mileage on the odo. The problem should resolve after the first service.
Do not worry about the BP engine oil. It is okay to run for few kilometers. You again change the oil at first service and make sure you use oil from Idemitsu or Tide Water India.
While downshifting the gears, use throttle blipping. Give a bit of throttle before downshifting. It would work wonders.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Just a quick thought:
About the gears being hard - I suggest you try oiling the gear shaft (the area where the shaft enters the engine and where the gear pedal pivots as well).
The gearshifter never gave me any trouble when the bike was new and logically speaking, the gears should not be 'hard'.
I suspect oiling the chain would also help, because oil from the chain would drip on to and lubricate the gear shaft from the inside?

Naveen, I too never felt hard gear shifting when I bought the bike. Many people who bought Zma-R in the last year have been complaining about hard gear shifts, and for most of them, after the first service the gear shifting became smooth.
