Reading more on this i have realised that any thing to do with the carb will only make the engine breath more easily and not much gain on the output and that's at the cost of mid-range.
As long as you understand what you're getting into , I'd say go ahead and take a look !!
Though i have not concluded anything here, i might still try it once.

I still say , check the cable and if it's Ok , open the speedo cluster .

When the TPS is set to WOT , then the ignition timing is suitable for WOT . It doesn't necessarily give a good timing at normal riding . From what psr said I'm pretty sure it doesn't do so .
Its only a question.

OK . My bad . But it's not usual for it to go kaput , is it ?

I think psr sir had already posted these links somewhere.

• I am pretty sure these links must have been posted earlier. I searched for dansmc but could not find a match so thought of (re)posting them for the benefit of late joiners (like me). I find all this engineering very fascinating, being from CS background, reading all this technical stuff takes me back to college.

I hope i did not violate any forum rules. This is one thing i am extremely careful about.

• Speedometer

A twist in the speedometer scenario
First here is the recap
rpm meter working fine, speedo needle still at zero, trip meter showing 9.6km, total 15512 km, fuel meter and clock working fine... (1st day the problem started)

Today, on my way to college, the trip meter changed to 9.7km....after some 200kms since the problem started.

Next query, I serviced my bike at ~13.5k kms and now tomorrow or day after tomorrow going for a trip to a beach(total trip would be around 500 kms) ...Should I change the engine oil before the trip? (15512+ some 200 kms current reading)

• My speedo is acting weird, showing inaccurate readings, shows 40 when at 60,15 wen at 30 and so on.Checked the speeds with friend's fz on side.
Went to showroom today morning, they changed and the cable and checked for loose connections but the problem is still there. At last they agreed to change the sensor but its not in stock so have to wait for week or so.
Any other things i need to check?

Your chain or sprocket either of these is bent...better to change both.
In future, what are the do's and dont's in order to prevent the chain sprockets or chain getting loose frequently...?
If you find any please let me know...I bust my chain sprockets in each 12k kms
Please find my response in red...

No need to worry,Guess Cam Tensioner is the culprit, get it checked and replace if necessary,You will get it replaced in warranty.

Hey bro.. I heard the clip. Its the same sound I experienced after my first service, there are only 3 culprits.

1. Valve Noise (If bikes at least intermediately hot.)

2. Chain Noise (If you'r bikes in gear and running.)

3. Cam Tension'er (If you'r bikes extremely hot.)

same noise at a lower level when my bike is hot . Like after running some 25 kms or so might be tensioner not sure.

• Newbie queries on Air Filter & AFR

Just a small query guys: I read that when we add a K&N air filter or the like the amount of air drawn in increases due to better filtration thus making AFR lean. As i read few pages before, a lean mixture makes the engine run hotter. Is this acceptable or does replacing the filter also require adjusting the AFR screw so that the mix is neither lean or rich ?

Also does an improved filter only (no other mods) increase torque at a given RPM in the lower band ? To elaborate lets say at 2000 rpm the torque is 12Nm. Will this become 12Nm + X once the stock filter is replaced ?

thanx, but SVC guys are telling me to keep my bike for 3 days does it take so long to replace??? and what if i drive it without replacing?? will it harm the engine???
