K&N,Green,Piper Cross, etc are free flow air filters, they will allow more air in to the carburetor. You can see there is nothing to reduce the airflow around a K&N Filter, whereas our stock airfilter element is placed inside a box and air is allowed to suck in through a rubber hole, which allows only an optimal amount of air to go through it.So no jetting or afr adjustment is needed for replacing stock filter. Hope you got it.

Also does an improved filter only (no other mods) increase torque at a given RPM in the lower band ? To elaborate lets say at 2000 rpm the torque is 12Nm. Will this become 12Nm + X once the stock filter is replaced ?
Blah Blah Blah! I dont know whats this.

No,It takes only 5-10mins to get it replaced.Guess it will increase the wear of cam chain.

    • A friend is looking to buy a 2006 model Karizma R. I will be going with him to test ride the bike this weekend. The owner says it has run 25000 km. What are the things I should look for to see if the bike is in decent shape? I haven't had time to go through the whole thread, so I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

Also, what's the going rate for a 5 year old Karizma? Any info would be very helpful. Thanks!

If the bikes HOT then 50k, else if NOT then 40~45k.

Yes adding a free flow air filter will require re-tuning your carb, from idle to WOT,along with FFE..
The best filtration of dust is done by the stock Paper filter...Any paper filter with adequate flow can help...I am running with Zen MPFi filter in my airbox for the last 2 K plus Kms without issue, without any adjustment to carb.
Stay away from K&N if you are planning on keeping your bike in good health.

More air helps in revving the bike higher,......PROVIDED the jets, ports, and exhaust are altered..only a free flow air filter will not help.

              • [OT] Psr'jee , I've done that Keihin PB carb along with my best friend's Ucal Mikuni BS26-176 same day . The first one is put up in the Splendor forum page , please review . Also I found a tiny hole ( 1mm long tear ) in the BS26 diaphragm .. plus worn out jets .. plus worn points on the adjusting screws . So I am needing a rebuild kit for it - shops here giving blank stares only .. what to do about it ?

Sir, I believe you'd have to order it from abroad, just like a former tbhpian did.

                    • Hi,

My Karizma's right front indicator broken. Can i get only the indicator cover from service center OR I have to purchase the whole fairing?
What is the cost of indicator and fairing.

You will get the indicator alone for nearly 240rs.

Ji, UCAL BS 26 is manufactured in India so any UCAL dealer or even Bajaj may be able to give you the slide with rubber skirt.

.Alternatively since the tear is minimal of 1mm you can use Dendrite to seal this by applying it on both sides of the torn area for say 3 to 5 mm area, letting it dry for 5 to 6 hours in the Sun,and then fix it in the carburetor....
Your write up with Pic in the Splendor thread is just AWESOME.

                            • Engine Oil change

                              Hi all ..
it's time for my oil change - have run 10920 km so far . And I was thinking about the Boric Acid treatment .Definitely want to do it . But should I do it when I fill in the oil or should I fill the oil , run for a couple of hundred kms and then add the mixture . In the 1st way the engine will be smoother anyway and there will be no change that can be attributed to the B acid . The change will be there but it could be attributed to the new oil . In the 2nd way , the 1st change will be when I change the oil and the 2nd one when I add b acid .
Another thing - my routine rides are all small ones . Work and back is 4 x 4 kms . In the evenings a total of 10 kms in city . Am planning for a 100 km x 2 ( 2 days) trip in the next few weeks . In this scenario , which oil suits me better ? 30w50 or 20w40 ?

                              @psr , I need your input please .
