The bike is running absolutely fine now and will update on any changes, if required going forward.
Good knowledge update...The Brush you had ,which had worn out, was a good one....the Commutator does not show any wear ..I hope you got medium or soft brushes so that the commutator will have longer life....

              shell AX7/ Motul 300v: 10w40
              gulf pride 4t +: 20w40
              Hero engine oil: 10w30

All these oil have been used on the zma

What i would like to understand:
what do these different grades signify.?
and which one should be used.? however hero recomends 10w30

              Query
I feel noticeable heat on my leg from the right side of the engine, is this some sign of overheating.?

Go to the engine oil thread and read the first post, you'll understand everything about engine oils.

                  Hi guys..need suggestion

My clutch cable (4 - 5K kms old) becoming hard everyday and when I take it redline it's very hard to de-clutch while up shifting. Down shifting is normal. Also I occasionally encounter clutch slip during hard acceleration for fraction of seconds ( like as if I accidentally pressed my lever). I dont feel any poor performance in pick-up or top speed (GPS reads 126 kmph solo as top)
Mechanic says "if you have any fault in clutch it will trouble you all the time not occasionally" and he has no remedy for this.

Do you think clutch overhauling is necessary ? If so what would be the cost for spares? My odo reads 67K kms and am still in factory fitted clutch.

Have you tried adjusting the cable ply? If yes, then I would try changing the clutch cable to see if there is any improvement the way it was earlier. Clutch reseting/overhauling can be done, however, one should think of touching the clutch bell as a last step. If the clutch slip is not affecting your performance and it occurs very occasionally, then relax.

Lean afr tuning (which is company spec in newer bikes) cause engine to heat more than earlier models. If your zma's afr is 2.5 turns you can put it at 3.5 turns and the bike would heat less. Downside would be lesser fe..but cold start issue might get solved to a certain extent and low end pulling might improve.

My 2008/ZMA has clocked close to 35K on the odo. I've had it serviced 2000km back (2months). I do not rev nor do I treat it harshly. But last week when I was driving in city traffic, after only 20-30km I can feel the engine heat on my legs. I thought it was due to the summer and heavy city traffic.

But yesterday when I was driving on an open road for about 15km at 5pm, I felt the heat again. After reaching the grocery, I held my hand close to the engine and can feel the heat. what could've gone wrong?

Check AFR if at 3.5, then check air filter for replacement/dust. Need to ensure the engine is not running lean. Some heat is normal in summer months, not extreme heating. Also replace oil if necessary.

thanks, will check that. I checked the oil yesterday. The level looks good. The oil also looked good. It's not too black/thick etc.
