Re: Karizma/Karizma R
For downshifts, you should use a technique called 'throttle blipping.' Just twist the throttle a bit (very slight twist to around 2k rpm) just before downshifting (downshift only after you blip the throttle, not while you blip). This will ensure smooth downshifts.Originally posted by undergroundrider View Post

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
hi ravi ..i experiencing a bit of problem with my karizma bike.i t was giving jerks and gets heated up after running a while..according to service center men .i have replaced carburetor and checked the engine for any problem ..he replaced the tensioner .and also reported that magnet coil is damaged.. now the jerks problem is soved but the bike is heating up on long running and and looses power after a while..why is this so ??? cause of the damaged magnet coil..?
i have some questions regarding magnet coil..what does it do? is it same as the ignition coil? how many types of coil are in a bike..like charging coil.etc.n their pupose.
do i have to install it?

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Main reason for engine Over heating is lean mixture. Air Fuel Ratio shud be checked. To confirm this remove spark plug and check the color of the tip ( cathode)Originally posted by shashank9 View Posthi ravi ..i experiencing a bit of problem with my karizma bike.i t was giving jerks and gets heated up after running a while..according to service center men .i have replaced carburetor and checked the engine for any problem ..he replaced the tensioner .and also reported that magnet coil is damaged.. now the jerks problem is soved but the bike is heating up on long running and and looses power after a while..why is this so ??? cause of the damaged magnet coil..?

Pitch dark : Rich mixture - Cooler run low FE.
Chocolate Brown : Perfect mixture - Optimum temp and normal FE.
White or pale brown : Lean mixture - Hotter run and more than normal FE.
Set to proper AFR by an experienced mechanic or you can follow DIY threads in the forum.
Regarding Coil
Proper definition for "magnet coil " is Magneto and stator coil. Magneto is rotating part which is connected directly to crankshaft. Stator coil is a fixed 1 which is mounted in crankcase. It is also called as alternator or charging coil which produce AC current. This coil is less prone to physical damage unless any foreign material enters inside. Life of this coil is almost lifetime of your owning period or at least 70 to 80K kms (provided normal load). There is a small unit called Pulser coil integerated with alternator which take care of ignition timing with Engine Control Module.
Other 2 types of coil is Primary and Secondary were both are located inside Ignition coil; it can be found under seat. No more coils in our bike.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Without relay the bulb doesnt give its full brightness since the oe wiring is not built for that high a load . But u get definite increase in brightness and the battery dont lose juice that fast. If your battery is up to it I wud say add a relay.Originally posted by undergroundrider View PostSwitched to philips extreme vision,
Comparatively much better than stock,
Got it installed without a relay and neither had to take the fairing off

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
LEDs are a good option if you can get them. If not switch to 5/10w brakelight bulbs and 10w bulbs for indicators (you will have to change flasher unit as well). For pilot/park lights get led bulbs.Originally posted by undergroundrider View PostHow??
By switching to led's??

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Don't get confused with working principle of a Relay. It's just a switch connecting Primary and Secondary circuit when these both circuits used in a high current consuming circuits.Originally posted by acs1207 View PostWithout relay the bulb doesnt give its full brightness since the oe wiring is not built for that high a load . Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Our bike's alternator is capable of producing more than 160 Watts above 3000 rpm. If you are using a 55/60 W bulbOriginally posted by undergroundrider View PostHow??

It doesn't affect much in your electrical system. Just switch off when you are at idle. This will do good for your battery.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
You need to tamper the main wiring and put a thick wire to handle the load. Instead, using a thick wire from the battery with relay is easier.Originally posted by saravanapriyancv View PostDon't get confused with working principle of a Relay. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
H/L upgrade with a relay is far better than without a relay...it just helps you bypass the switch as far as current flow is concerned. But most relays are rated for upto @ 30 amps . In real life for a zma that means the load can be as high as 360w if your battery can supply it . If your bulb demands 55w and your battery can supply 55w then the relay will supply it without error. . The oe wiring on the other hand is rated for 35w. I am not sure how high a load it will accept. Also without relay the current passes through the switch...I am not sure how gud it is to Pass a higher current thru the switch.Originally posted by saravanapriyancv View PostDon't get confused with working principle of a Relay. I think you confused about the quote ! My point is not against using relay..it's about Relay doesn't improve brightness of a light.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostYou need to tamper the main wiring and put a thick wire to handle the load.
