Asking price is 40k bike looking clean and condition. No pending works.. But only thing is the high mileage.Originally posted by AK3D View PostDepends on the price and how the owner kept it.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Unfortunately, I don't know about the Kerala market and average prices there. Though, I believe you should be able to get a used ZMA for about 30-35K with that kind of mileage. Perhaps someone with better knowledge of the local market pricing there can chip in.Originally posted by Jith_in View PostAsking price is 40k bike looking clean and condition. No pending works.. 2008 model zma is priced around the band 33-37k here in thrissur...And of course even a immaculate conditioned one never used to cross 37k...Since pre 2011 Zma are known to be fuel guzzlers....Between i thought models after 2011 got the R badging ...Last edited by Henick; 05-19-2014, 09:07 PM.

Is that an assumption or are there examples of this known fuel guzzling?Originally posted by Henick View PostSince pre 2011 Zma are known to be fuel guzzlers....Between i thought models after 2011 got the R badging ...
The ZMA gives anywhere from 28-33 in the city 'normally' and 35 to 40 on the highway. Some people have reported more mileage. Not bad for a 223CC vehicle. The ZMR variant gives even more mileage.
The "R" variant launched in 2007.
Would suggest (as always) that someone who owns or is interested in the ZMA should go through this entire thread and benefit from the information given here.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I have known that after 2011 Karizma R got asfs bs-3 engine thereby a minor increment in FE...2007 model have got the R badging with reduction in power plus a cdi mapping since karizma (without the R badging) got marginal FE ...please correct me if i am wrong and i am not sure about the exact year..Originally posted by AK3D View PostIs that an assumption or are there examples of this known fuel guzzling?

What is an ASFS engine? Nothing but a fancy term (Advanced swirl flow engine). It's not like the engine is different!
The ZMA/ZMR share the detuned Honda CRF230 engine since day one of inception. The reason that the post 2011 zma's are getting more mileage is because the factory AFR setting is set at 2 turns, which makes it very lean.
Please read this thread and research before making statements that make no sense. ASFS BS indeed.Last edited by AK3D; 05-21-2014, 01:45 PM.

Hero claims that the asfs and apdv blah blah engines have diffrent intake port designs that cause the air fuel mixture to tumble more violently and burn better and hence be more fuel efficient,Originally posted by AK3D View PostI was tempted not to reply, but.....

In real world though this is just a gimmick and nothing as such happens,
The bikes are just more leaner from the factory and every time you visit an svc they will tune your carb lean so that you get good milage figures.
Very bad practice for thr engine on the companies part.
They claim the same thing for apdv splendours and passions etc.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
You are partially correct here Divyansh, there is no evidence of Hero porting their heads and fancy terms do nothing to boost an engine's power, however, actual head porting is not a gimmick. Done properly, it will increase the mileage and power to an extent, there are several examples of this.Originally posted by Divyanshp150 View PostHero claims that the asfs and apdv blah blah engines have diffrent intake port designs that cause the air fuel mixture to tumble more violently and burn better and hence be more fuel efficient,

Hero says their port designs are different in the apdv and asfs. But the meh at svcs says its same!Originally posted by AK3D View PostYou are partially correct here Divyansh, there is no evidence of Hero porting their heads and fancy terms do nothing to boost an engine's power, however, actual head porting is not a gimmick. I didnt say porting is a gimmick bro, I just said heros claims are.
Porting done by joel or some other experienced tuner will give a lot of different
positive one at that

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Asfs, apdv, atft all aim at making the aft twist and turn and move in more violently in the engine so that the mixture is better and more even and it burns cleaner and is supposed to give better milage,Originally posted by SatSon View PostIs this ASFS similar to ATFT (Advanced Tumble Flow tech) in Xtreme/Hunk engines?
Doubt the actual affect on day to day life.
A good port and polish job done by a tuner to the bikes head can actually work. An experienced mech or tuner has to examine the diffrent apdv, non apdv etc engines first hand to comment onthe truth.
I personally feel that it has no difference.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hero/Honda never used to market their engine technology, until Bajaj starts to market even a small advancement in engines as they have done it for the first. Later Hero/Honda realized that customers are falling for the Bajaj marketing and they also started to market the tumble flow technology in the later batches of bikes. The tumble flow is already there in most of the Honda engines, and they never marketed it before like Bajaj.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler
