Please note my second post where I have mentioned that I didn't find the AFR screw when I checked this morning. The place was empty.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Tried the on/off switch thing. No use. I don't think that is the issue because currently, the engine starts when on choke, idles at 2.5k instead of 3-3.5k(idled for 2 mins) and dies if I use the throttle. Tries the spark plug cap also. No use.Originally posted by psr View Post

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
A missing AFR screw ? Take it to ASC or, get it from ASC and fix it. Set it at 3.5 turns anticlockwise after turning it GENTLY fully clockwise till it stops.Originally posted by vijayvenkatesans View PostTried the on/off switch thing. No use. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Simply question about gear changes. In all my previous bikes trying to shift up on Fifth gear or shift down when on first gear, the gear shift would be rigid/stiff and wouldn't move. On the ZMA it moves freely but obviously I'm still in the same gear. Is this normal in all ZMAs?

Normal. Not only in Karizma but I even searched for an imaginary 7th on a CBR 250R.Originally posted by rcazador View PostSimply question about gear changes. Gearshift lever moves around freely.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
On Spark Plugs :
I've been reading with interest the recent discussions about spark plugs. I own an NGK G Power for the ZMA, and I've not faced unusual problems with it. However, there is a niggling little problem that remains unsolved, and I was wondering if the spark plug had anything to do with it.
After reading about the 'experiences' with the G Power, I called up Mr Jignesh, who is the representative for NGK in Ahmedabad.
He was very responsive, and came over with a spare spark plug, the normal DPR8EA-9 to check if there was indeed a problem.
What impressed me is that the company cares about its products.
Here are a few photographs of the condition of my G Power.
The spark plug box and the caliper used to measure the gap.
Mr Jignesh checking the wire to see if there's any problem there.
The stock NGK (showing exactly 0.9 on the caliper)
My G Power was also 0.9, however to test it, it has been reduced to 0.85 for the time being.
I'm going to run with the normal NGK spark plug for a week and see if there are any differences in pickup or mileage. Today's experience has been ok so far, I didn't observe anything amiss, all seems 'normal'
Since some members reported issues, I would suggest that they contact NGK to find out if their spark plug was at fault. The reason could be fake spark plugs or just imagination!

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The mechanic from HMC came over today. It seems there was a lot of water in the carb. He drained it off and the engine started. Rode around 1.8km and it didn't switch off. But he didn't find that the AFR screw is missing. Will give the bike for servicing in a couple of days (done 300+ km) and see if they find that the AFR screw is missing. If not, i'll get the part and insert it myself. The part number is 16016-KRY-902 right? Item 5 in the attached image.
Also, as mentioned in the original post, the RPM reduces slowly on releasing the throttle now. Is this because of the missing AFR? As per my understanding of the AFR, it's absence means more fuel resulting in incomplete combustion. As a result, I think, the FE will reduce. Also because of the opening, there is a possibility of dust/unwanted materials entering the carb. Anything else, that I'm missing? What else can a missing AFR screw do?

I don't think a bike would even start without an AFR screw, it should be there.Originally posted by vijayvenkatesans View PostThe mechanic from HMC came over today. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Doubtful your AFR screw is missing. You can check for that yourself, look at the carb from the gear side, to the left (in the Carb) and below the TPS is the AFR screw. It is gold in color. Hard to miss really. This is covered earlier in this thread.Originally posted by vijayvenkatesans View PostThe mechanic from HMC came over today. It seems there was a lot of water in the carb. Let me google that for you
The bike will start - you'll need to start it with choke, and maintain the revs well over 2.5 k during riding else it'll shut down.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostI don't think a bike would even start without an AFR screw, it should be there.

Yea only choke would start it, but according to him the bike idles fine so the Afr screw should be thereOriginally posted by AK3D View PostDoubtful your AFR screw is missing. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Here are the pics of the carb:
@sinnerz2000 and AK3D : guess you guys were right. Just now tried starting the bike and it didn't start. I tried on choke, it idled at around 2.5-3k and shut off if I throttled.
