Got just too busy and occupied with chores of life. Miss myself as true biker & karzma fan boy who used to be so active on xbhp in the past. Have rode my Karizma for around only 1500 kms in last one year!

But still love my bike like it is still out of showroom. Regularly wax it, keep it covered when not in use. Have no plans of selling it. Probably because no other bike will be able to replace Karizma not even the current model. Long live ZMA!

Have been using Motul 5100 15W50 for my Karizma 2011 with great satisfaction. I use this beautiful machine (who happens to be my best friend too) for touring purpose only - 600 - 700 KM at a stretch with 1 or 2 or 3 breaks(depending on my mood), resulting a very hot running engine. I do change the oil before 3k KM.
My odo is 30K km approximately (approximately because, I have thrown away the meter assembly, since I don't want to remember the speed I am riding or the kms I have covered - just my way of thinking)

So the choices are :
1) Stock recommendation 10W30 - used for running in.
2) 10W40 - recommended for the same engine CRF 230F.
3) to continue with 15W50 or 20W50?

What should be my take considering the riding habit and the hot Indian climate?
Please enlighten me...

^ I would recommend 10w40. It is good for Indian conditions. You can try Shell, Mobil1 etc.

Filled her up with Mobil1 4T 10W40 today. Now she rides like a charm.
Thanks brothers for your suggestion.

I also purchased an air filter from the ASC. But the Air filter was not a proper fit in the air filter box. Somehow placed it in the box and tightened the screws, but after starting the engine, it seemed to me that air is getting in from somewhere bypassing the air filter - some "dhab dhab..." sound observed. The mechanic also confirmed the same. Again fixed the old one. The sound became normal again. On closely observing the new air filter I found the uncut plastic shrouds are there at the channel where air filter seats in the air filter box to make it leak proof. Such a bad quality product Hero is providing.
Thinking of sending Hero a mail with photograph of the air filter with a scan copy of the bill.

psr sir, is there any alternative to stock air filter? I remember, you used Maruti Zen air filter once in the same air filter box. Are you still using the same? Or any alternative?
Can't trust the Hero guys for the quality of spares.

I am on my second ZEN MPFi air filter...The overall performance and smoothness is better with these filters . I changed the first one after 6,000 Kms (my habit, since the filter was still working fine) and now done 4,000 Kms on the second one...filter looks better than stock one at these Kms in dusty city usage.....but it does require a little DIY work to get it fitted....ACS (Arun) sir had posted a detailed fitting with pictures ...

Thank you PSR sir.

I am quite frustrated with the quality of spares Hero is providing.

What if we can use stock foam filter of Pulsars in the air filter holder box? The rear portion is already having a metal net, so only positioning the foam element correctly and making it air tight can do the job. psr sir, need your guidance in this regard.

Few old air filter holders are with me, since I change them at 5k km interval, especially during winter and monsoon.

Since Paper type filters are superior I had always used Zen filters only(or stock)....You can try the foam type also, but make sure it is good quality so that least amount of dust is allowed to flow through....here is the page reference to Mr Arun Sir DIY...

P220's filter would let in enough air for the zma cause of almost equal capacity .. also it revs higher. But can it be modded by DIY ( shape...size etc) is the question. If you think it can be then go ahead and give it a try...and post results and a DIY guide here if successful.
BTW the zen is a 1 liter car and hence its air filter wont struggle at any speeds to give air to the zma engine.

Not getting a clear Picture of the problem, it would be better if you can post a pic of the same. If there are uncut Shrouds and the air filter is not seated properly, it would definitely not sound "Dhab dhab". It be more like a hissing sound at the Air filter location or will sound a bit louder. Do you have the Air filter hose in place ?

Also 5K is too less an interval for filter Change , even in the dust filled summers. Ideally ZMA filters can perform ideally for 10-12kKms "at least " during summers/dry or dusty environment or 12-15K kms during rains/ comparatively cleaner terrain.

Paper type filter are more effective than a sponge type under ideal conditions as PSR SIr told.

Actually, after removing the old air filter, the new one was not seating properly in the air filter box. But the mechanic told me to use some muscle power (as I was fixing it by myself) and to tighten the screws. I did that. But after starting the bike got the loud sound and I understood from my previous experience (the rubber pipe - connecting the carb and air filter box came up from the air filter box since the pipe is attached to the air filter box by Dendrite kind of stuffs) that engine is sucking impure air and the mechanic confirmed it. So switched back to the previous one and the sound became normal.

Thank you PSR sir and ACS1207 sir for your input.

Why didn't you get the OEM cone set?
Also, if you had searched for the info, you'd find it's 145 ml (144 +-2 cc). This has been covered earlier.

I recently purchased OEM cone set costs 271 MRP.
That's OK if you have Endurance make cone set. How much did it costs?
Check oil seals for the condition, replace them if bad.
Fork oil, Hero Motors supply savita fork oil. Or you can go for Castrol/Motul.
