Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Stay away. Doesn't look well maintained. Its a first gen Karizma which has inferior fuel efficiency than the later versions. Most importantly 50K is way way too high for a Karizma particularly that old.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostTour De Thekkady

I am using the RTR disk break pad without any modifications - direct fit.Originally posted by pravinan View Post2. Brake pads.
It seems that your timing chain is making that sound when closing the throttle, and the timing chain tensioner is weak too.Originally posted by pravinan View PostI'm facing a weird sound when closing the throttle from 4 to 5 rpm? The sound is like factory bell ringing calling the workers. the sound is heard from the left hand side some where near the oil case/engine cover. Have shown to few mechs, they are not able to identify the issue. Have done a lot of long trips no issues.
If at all you need replace the chain and tensioner, remember to replace the guide too.
Kindly check the alignment of your rear wheel. Even a small misalignment may cause fast chain wear.Originally posted by pravinan View Postthe chain hits the guard when going through some pot holes. Try adjusting the chain no go. Chain sprocket is 9,000 kms odd old.
- told you all these based on my experience with my beloved machine and that may be wrong too. PSR sir would be the best person to guide us here.
I am having another question to PSR sir, what if I remove the chain cover? It would be easy to wash and lube the chain.
I am ready with 10no. spanner in my hand - just a nod from PSR sir, I'll go straight to my garage and get rid of the chain cover. I really don't like the chain cover. Bare chain and sprocket looks so gorgeous. I really don't understand why people cover up the most beautiful things.

Sorry to see you running into a series of problems...Originally posted by pravinan View PostI'm planning for a Tyre change. Bike is close to 46,000.
1. Spark plug- NGK G power- can some one guide on where to source it in chennai?
2. Brake pads.
3. Accelerator cable.
4. Choke cable- sort of getting stuck.
5. 55/60w bulb.

The weird sound disturbs me some times. PSR sir can you throw some light on this sound? If possible I will try to record it.
@bala- can you tell the from where you got the light.

The weird sound can be diagnosed only after hearing it..if it is continuous then Timing chain slack is the suspect.....Southern Hero ASC near Avenue Nissan Showroom seems better than others so far known to me...Last edited by psr; 12-25-2014, 10:42 AM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Thank you Sir for the reply. I have seen in some post you mentioning about Ninja 250 brakes pads is a straight fit to ZMA. I felt the stopping power less adequate from Stock pads. . I have just replace the rotor 500kms back. I have enquired and found ninja brake pads costs around 1420 approx. Will ninja pads provide better stopping power?Originally posted by psr View PostSorry to see you running into a series of problems...

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Yes the Ninja 250 Front brake pads are straight fit and gives better braking. Since it is made of Sintered metal the braking is very superior even in wet condition, unlike the Organic compound ones like the OE and Shriram Alpine...Originally posted by pravinan View PostThank you Sir for the reply. Do not use RTR pads since they contain steel particles which will kill the Disc ROTORWhen Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Every silencer has that hole it is not a problem. That helps to drain out water entering on washingOriginally posted by karizmar2014 View PostI have New Karizma 2014. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
What is the right time to replace front brake pads and rear shoe? Mine is nearing 20k in sometimes.
Edit - also since the service is due, i would like to take opinions regarding whether I should continue taking my bike to authorised service center only or switch to a good neighbourhood service guy? Only benefit in doing so seems to be some cost & time saving minus a little peace of mind.
What you guys suggest?"Biking is Divine"

my replacement schedules were 16k, 33k, going to replace shortly after reaching chennai. both times i have used stock pads. This time going for ninja pads as it cost 400 more approx than hero brake pads. rear shoes are changed every 5 to 7k.
I stick to service centers until 18,000 kms. after that i do simple things myself, whenever I get some unidentifiable issue, i post it here and try myself. if i'm not able to do it, I note down points from the members and instruct the mechanics to do.
from my experience, service center mechanic doesn't listen to customers, but road side mechanics listen and do as we say

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I am also following exactly same process. But I think at least once in a year the bike should be serviced from ASC because if we would miss any issue, the ASC mechanic may find it. Another reason is that the rubber parts are very rear in open market and the local mechanic don't even understand the reason for using them. But in ASC, they source it somehow and change it as and when required.Originally posted by pravinan View PostI stick to service centers until 18,000 kms. after that i do simple things myself, whenever I get some unidentifiable issue, i post it here and try myself. if i'm not able to do it, I note down points from the members and instruct the mechanics to do.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I lost trust in service centres when my bike fork cone set(ball's race kit) problem. the bike would wobble after hitting a speed breaker or pothole. when i stop and start, bike will be back to normal. more than 4 service centres said different issues like handle bar bend, fork tube problem, frame bend. They did not take my words Got solution from Ravi and PSR, got the balls race kit and the whole issue was fixed in a span of 1 hour and cost including labour was under 250rs.Originally posted by BPD View PostI am also following exactly same process. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hello Xbhpians..
Hello Ravi@17bhp and psr sir..
These days i am noticing some tuck-tuck/rattling sound from engine. It lasts only for few seconds when I start the engine (when the engine is hot) and it goes of when the vehicle starts moving on gear. I wonder what might be the reason. My vehicle is almost near to its 4th free service ODO is 8777. Can you please give me some inputs on it.
