The rotor is warped, you need to change it. The pads need only be changed after inspection.

guess the rotor is the other name for disk plate or rotor is different. Sorry Don't know much about this..disk plate costs around 1400.

Need help from fellow ZMA owners.

I have a 2005 Karizma and am facing a problem with the kick/gear lever. Whenever I engage a gear and accelerate, the kickstart moves back and hits my leg. The more I give throttle the more it hits back. What could be the cause/solution for this?

Open the clutch side cover and inspect the kicker spindle for play. If there is rotary play then inspect the spring, if there is any other form of play then the spindle is dislodged.

If it has been stored properly and the condition is good then go for it. AFAIK there has been no change in the rotor to date.

              • issue fixed

took the vechile to the dealer shop. they hold a shop and a mechanic shop too and also a lathe. the guy fitted the new disc plate and they took the old disc for a price of 200 as the disc can be machined and sold as a old parts in pudupet( known for that).

                cost of new disc: 1180
                old disc: -200
                fitting charge: 100

so the total cost is 1080 and the bike is back to it's braking and there is a no pull too.

the rate of the disk plate has gone up from 1180 in feb 2012 to 1340 in sep 2012 and 1400-1500 in 2013 and now it's cost 1700-1800.

any ideas of how this thing could have happened? the bike is free from crash for the past one year. had a crash last year. bike has crossed 41,000kms.

Thanks for the idea about spacers.
My '05 Zma front shocks is acting really spongy after an oil change from a new work shop. Don't know which oil they used and the quantity. Fork bottoms down too much. Never had this problem before. Used couple of brands like castrol, valvoline, and elf(not sure)
Before the last change 6 months back my front shocks was awesome.

I just bought Motul 20W fork oil. 350ml bottle. Hope using it gives me the old feeling back.

One question have been in my mind for so long. Will changing to new springs in front help?

Certainly it helps depending on the condition of your front shock absorber spring. Get a new spring, get your old spring and compare side by side. If you find your spring short and thin than the new one, change the both of the springs - left & right side. Price of the springs are on lower side, may be somewhere between Rs 165 to 180 bucks. But make sure, you be present while measuring and filling the hydraulic oil - both matters a lot for you not for the mechanic and even not for average bike riders. A little differences changes the ride quality.

I have not changed my front fork springs yet. But one of my friend with ZMA changed them for his rally preparation. So, all the unnecessary 'gyaan' are not my first hand experience though.

The Service limit for the front fork spring is 23 inches length....anything less warrants replacement. Replacement should be done to both forks to balance action rebound...

The length of the fork spring when you take it out, and measure should be 23 inches .ie., the spring should be AT LEAST 23 inches long. If it is less then you need to replace the spring. If your bike needs change of one spring, replace springs in both fork legs since you need to match compression and rebound in both fork legs to have linear response while going through pot holes and bumps...

Form which mechanic did you do the work in Mumbai? Please let know since I am also suffering from bumpy forks at low speeds. Want to repair it from good mechanic for zma.

For people who needed wide tyre, I changed to MRF ZAPPER Y 110/90-18 tyre. It is a direct fit and no mod to chain guard or break link is needed. I covered 200kms on it. And there is no friction with chainguard and no effect on mileage.
