Guys, I am feeling immense vibrations on handle bar, foot pegs, seat when riding in heavy traffic or you can say when engine is extremely hot in these conditions. Mostly at slow speed, when I ride hard I can feel same vibrations at 60-70 km/hr and at 90km/hr above 90 again no vibrations till 120km/hr.

I checked all nuts n bolts for tightness which are ok. What could be reason? These vibrations are too irritating, overall I feel harshness in engine during heat conditions.

Am I running on lean mixture because I am getting mielage of around 40.

      Or

Tappet require adjustment because I am also hearing metal type sound( kat kat) from engine when it is hot, no sound in cold engine. Do improper adjusted valves cause vibrations?

      Experts pl give suggestions.

Running rich or lean doesn't cause vibrations AFAIK.. since when did you notice this? Was your bike doing well before the oil change?? How much has your bike completed?? And how much has it completed since last oil change??

Bike is one year and 14k km old and with last oil I have done hardly 200 kms. Initiall response of shell ax7 was smooth but just after 50kms vibrations started.

Before filling shell there were very little vibrations in hot engine.

BTW I read your nepal travelog, it is mind blowing adventure trip.

Can you check the spark plug?? If possible get a pic and post it here. The tappets could be a possible reason. On the other hand, what is the air pressure you maintain in the tires??

Thanks Buddy. It was one hell of a ride

Ok, will post spark plug pic tomorrow.

I have ZMR tubeless tyres. Front- 28psi and rear- 35psi

I can feel vibrations even at idle hot engine and vehicle.

                          "Sorry for long post"

Hello Lads. With respect to the recent electrical problem pertaining in my ZMA, the issue was narrowed down to stator coil as the voltage across the battery maxxed at 12.7V when tried with various combinations of new and existing RR Units & Batteries (existing one, Amaron 9amp). However suggestions are most welcomed.

I am currently investigating various possiblity of changing all the bulbs (except those in the headlamp unit) to LEDs in order to save power so that I can use an aux or spot light when on long ride without straining the battery much. (I hope so!)

With respect to the LEDs I have sourced the bulbs like the ones below which would go into all four indicator holders.

From what I have observed with the forward facing leds of these bulbs, the reflection of the light wont be much within the indicator unit and I dont want to confuse others with a stupid white light flashing as an indicator. Hence, I am planing to use the red indicator lens (like those in pre 2011 ZMAs) with these bulbs. Though front indicators do good with these forward faced LEDs, I dont think that the rear ones will do good (light reflection within the indicator unit) considering the indicator unit size, bulb positioning and the inner panel finish of the indicator unit. Therefore I have planned to resurface (stick) the aluminium finished inner panel with aluminium foil for better light reflection from these LEDs. My indicators are already running with the splendor's electronic flasher (since all my indicators are 10W bulbs).
Coming to the tail light: Even here, I am using 2x10W/10W bulbs currently. My plan is to use each of these two LEDs in each segment of the tail lamp unit.

I am thinking of a possibility as such; the 9SMD led will be used for tail illumination (with T10 bulb holder introduced into the unit) and the second led (from the above pics) serves for the brake illumination, positioned in the existing holder. The same setup goes for the other segment of the tail light unit as well.
The number plate illuminator is already running with one of this LED shown below.

The current illumination setup in my ZMA is
55W (HL), 4x10W (Indicators), 2x10W/10W (tail lamps), 2x5W (parking bulbs), 1x say 2WLED (number plate light)

                          My calculations are as:

Say a ZMA with stock lighting set up under possible full load (HL ON+Brakes pressed+ L or R indicator ON):Lets neglect horn.
                          35W+(2x5W)+(2x20W)+[2x(21W+5W)]+5W=142W the total load

With current lighting setup in my bike under same possible load;(Lets take the power consumption of the leds as 2W)
                          55W+(2x5W)+(2x10W)+[2x(10W+10W)]+2W=127W the total load

Available Power 1: 142W-127W=15W of this additional power, which I beleive, is used by the HL.
This equates that my current setting has less load on the battery when compared to the stock lighting set up under nominal condition. May be, the available power 1 is used by the HL considering the losses due to more heat from a 55W bulb than a 35W one. (am i an idiot to think so? I dont know.)

now with my proposed lighting setup:
                          55W+(2x5W)+(2x2W)+[2x(2W+2W)]+2W=79W the total load

Available Power 2: 127W-79W=48W say ~40W after compensating for LED Wattage errors and horn. (~60W when compared to the stock light set up.)

This shows that, I can very well use an aux lamp of atleast 35w on a continuous run with no strain on the battery OR a 55w H3 bulb equipped aux lamp with less or no major strain onto the Amaron 9amp MF battery. Can I?

Now the plethora of my thoughts are:
                          1. as far as the numbers are concerned, is this real that I would be saving this much power (available power 2) when converting to LED bulbs?
                          2. Is (will) the available power 1 (2) realy being (be) used by the HL (aux lamp) putting no additional strain to battery? or just my stupid thought and calculation?
                          3. As far as the tail light set up is concerned, is it possible to bring out such a set up in real?
                          4. is a 35W single filament H3, H5 or H7 bulb available in market? because, i couldnt find any.
                          5. What are the possible problems i'll be facing, if any, with the electrical system in such a conversion to LEDs?

Suggestions, facts, error spottings, etcs are most welcomed as I am currently learning the possibility of such a conversion and will be put to light soon if things are feasible.

The LED conversion is mainly due to power saving in order to accomodate an aux lamp during long rides and not for the matter of any aesthetic or cool looking feature.

                          Thanks in advance.

Its a fit. The tyres on the new zma have not been changed spec wise. Why don't you go in for a tubeless from Pirelli or Michelin. The mrf tyres are good but are hard compound type.
