Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Dear Seniors,
Hope you all are doing great.. I have a question. I tried to drag race my ZMA at traffic Signals when the green light blinked. I found little pull back while giving half to more than half throttle in 1st gear and half throttle in 2nd gear too..
At the moment AFR is set at 3 turns and my ZMA is giving 37 kmpl in the Hyderabad City (Most of the ride will be on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th). Also by CONSIDERING my ZMA's tampered "Valve assembly air section" or "pollution section" (resulted in Misfiring sound from silencer when releasing accelerator) and also considering my tampered silencer (ASC pumped used engine oil into the silencer) and recently changed clutch plates, Please provide me your opinion what I shall do. ODO is 5350 KMS.
If you want to look up in detail please refer to the problems i faced earlier. Mr. Ravi and PSR sir knows well what happened with my ZMA.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hello fellow bhpians. hope you all doing good. Its been a long time since. in my recent trips to banglore, the first since I came back to India, observed some strange issues which was annoying and also scary. Well, mine is a 2011 ZMA R done 40,000 Kms.
Strange: On my recent trip to Banglore which started early in he morning things were good for a while. Was effortlessly cruising close to triple digits on top gear hovering between 5500-6000 rpm for quite a while. But when a gear or two is drop down where the rpm does falls down, the vehicle sputters to dead (choking as if drained out of petrol). When throttled up in the said gears to reach the above mentioned rpm things go good. I am sure nature plays here. Because, these strange things happen until shine starts to shine. Once the clock ticks to 7am or the sun is bright enough to wear coolers. Why is that so? I would like to mention Mr. Sriram's vehicle where the bike refuses to build rpm. In my cases it refuses to move in lower rpm.
Scary: with such an issue on board, this does put me in couple of dangerous scenarios. During the above said early morning trips when I was about to overtake a stupid bus doing close to 90kmph, I droped a gear (to 4 from 5) to build more rpm and gain some more speed. A car was tailing me to make way for him. As soon as i droped the gear for a split second the went dead n shook my nerves. The car behind me braked hard to avoid colliding with me n that put me in a very scary yet embarrassing situation. A quick solution/update would of greater help.
Strange: Recently I gave my zma new shoes, Michelin sirac street rear and front of stock sizes. Both filled with the manufacturer specified pressures. However, I CAN observe a strange wobbly effect from the rear. I can clearly SEE and FEEL the front waving right and left. The pressure does remain same when checked after a day or two of hard/extensive city ride.
PS. The bike was very recently serviced and due care was taken on all mechanicals as usual! Please help guys!"safety will be the sturdy child of terror, and survival the twin brother of annihilation"

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Welcome back, Vivek. The rpm issue is strange and opposite to what I faced earlier. I would leave it to seniors and experts to share their thoughts. Wobbling could either be a defect or uneven wear out. I had felt to but disappeared after some time but if you experience it when you hit an unnoticed pothole, there would a mild swing, it is due to wheel stay bush worn out.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Well, the tyres are less than 1500Kms old anna, sorry for not mentioning it earlier. Wheel stay bush, need to have a look at it! anyways, thanks anna!Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostWelcome back, Vivek. The rpm issue is strange and opposite to what I faced earlier. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The ZMA has a CV carburetor which fuels according to the engine Vacuum signal. If you suddenly open the throttle, the Vacuum acting on the throttle slide will drop and the throttle slide will actually go down instead of up ,leading to the situation you described. Check for free movement of throttle slide, and for clean main jet, and float bowl...dirt in float bowl can also simulate the problem you described....Regarding wobble check tire for even run out...ie., without any side ways movement. If the tire was fitted incorrectly then this can happen. Otherwise the stay bushes are to be checked for lubrication and wear.Originally posted by vivekarizma View PostWell, the tyres are less than 1500Kms old anna, sorry for not mentioning it earlier. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Its nothing to worry about brother. During rainy season, water seeps inside the drum and the inner surface of the drum gets a very fine layer of rust. This rust makes the screeching sound for a few kms. After 2-3 kms the rust is scrubbed off with the break shoe and the drum is clean again, so the sound stops.Originally posted by Rajarshi View PostHello folks....everyday when i take out my 2012 ZMA for the first ride... initial 2/3 km i get screeching sound from the Rear brakes(like the old govt buses & trucks) whenever applied ... later that sound goes away ... these behaviour i am sensing since last 2/3 months...

It will go away when the rains stop. Ride safe.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Thank you Sir. With respect to the solution you've pointed, I had given the bike a carburettor cleaning which I too thought would be the solution. However, I am yet to get my bike back from service and will update the forum once had done that.Originally posted by psr View PostThe ZMA has a CV carburetor which fuels according to the engine Vacuum signal. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I am facing the engine stalling at idling. The problem suddenly started appearing after i replaced the engine head O rings to stop oil leakage and repaired wiring problem of rpm meter.
The bike runs without any problem while riding, but engine stalls suddenly while idling at traffic signal or while downshifting gears.
I tried increasing idle rpm from 1500 to 2500 but still at idle the needle slowly moves below 1k mark and engine shuts off. I checked CDI wiring but it's intact. The afr screw and tappets are untouched.
I am not able to figure out the root cause and have to keep accelerating bike at signals to keep alive. My mechanic is ill so I want to DIY to solve this. Please help.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hi Seniors,
Greetings of the day..!
Hope you are doing great. I have a small issue with my bike. The engine stalls when it is idle and it happen mostly when the engine is at heat. I am just wondering what could be the reason.
Apart from the above issue everything is fine. I'm on back of the hero motors to get replacement of my zma silencer and pollution section (valve assembly air injection section). Hopefully I will get these two replaced soon.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
just back from a 700 km trip of chennai-bangalore. the upward trip of 340 was done in one stretch without any breaks as it was urgent. i started back today early morning from bangalore after riding for 30 kms the bike started to loose power and was stalling when driven below 60kms past 60 there was no problem. i made a stop for 10 mins as i got call from mom and started back. the bike refused to start after 2 cranks the bike started but it was stalling more. then i rode for 40 kms and stopped for a tea break and when i cranked again the bike refused to start. i did all trouble shooting measure like opening the tank, using kick start. the bike would after 2 or 3 cranks and would idle for 4 seconds and then i apply throttle it would die. then it will start after 3 cranks, then i pushed the bike to a road side mechanic as it was early morning.
he cleaned the air filter, carb and the bike started withtout any hassle. he said that the auto choke mechanism is not getting realeased. i didn't get in. i just moved as i need to reach chennai soon, the stalling issue was there for another 10 kms and it disapperared and it didn't come till i reached chennai. got a mileage of 42 and there was no drop in performance or reduction is oil level or smoke from the exhaust.
is there anything called autochoke mechanism? this issue occured some 2 months back when i went for short trip of 150kms.
i want the bike to be hassle free as i go for long rides often. what are the things need to be checked? ZMA gurus help

If the choke is auto there shouldn't be a choke lever on the handlebar on the left side..Originally posted by pravinan View Postjust back from a 700 km trip of chennai-bangalore. the upward trip of 340 was done in one stretch without any breaks as it was urgent. i started back today early morning from bangalore after riding for 30 kms the bike started to loose power and was stalling when driven below 60kms past 60 there was no problem. i made a stop for 10 mins as i got call from mom and started back. the bike refused to start after 2 cranks the bike started but it was stalling more. then i rode for 40 kms and stopped for a tea break and when i cranked again the bike refused to start. i did all trouble shooting measure like opening the tank, using kick start. the bike would after 2 or 3 cranks and would idle for 4 seconds and then i apply throttle it would die. then it will start after 3 cranks, then i pushed the bike to a road side mechanic as it was early morning.
