Tail light bulbs are 12v 21/5 w I think. I replaced them with 12v 10/5 w ones. It would be better if you can get led bulbs..

Guys im having 2 issues with my 05zma and im hoping you'll could help me sort them out.

        1. A very high pitch squeaking sound coming from somewhere in the engine at lower revs. Once the revs go above 2.5k, it stops. This drastically reduced once the motor heats up. Its an intermittent sound and not a continuous one- Sounds like it comes at every second stroke. You sometimes get it when the head gasket blows. In this case its fine.
        2. Idle issue- At one point its happily idling at around 1.25k and then the motor suddenly goes dead. It doesn't struggle or anything but just drops dead. Its something similar to when you turn on the choke a bit when the bike is idling and it just drops dead.

        * The bike was sitting idle for a month at a friends and seemed to have developed a leak on the clutch side. I kicked it hard, the kicker hit the stopper bolted to the bottom of the crankcase and cracked the case a bit. So i had to drop the motor and have it tig welded to stop the oil leak. Fixed the clutch side cover back with new packing.
        * At this point i opened that crap emission reducing thingie bolted to the chassis to check if the diaphragm was ok. I did close the tubes to check if the sound reduces but it didnt.
        * Battery is fine. So are the connections. Ive also opened all the coupling around the bike, sprayed the connectors and closed them.
        * There are no signs of an air leak.
        * The carb is around 2yrs old.
        * The motor is still very strong. Pulls like how shes used to. Engine oil isn't burning or depleting.

Does anyone know what this could be? The mechs at hero motocorp charged me 405 bucks to check it and didnt fix anything. This is why i like doing stuff myself.

          Hi all,

I am using 2013 model karizma r. Now I am going abroad and may not be backfor the next one year.
Could any one please help me with what kind of precautions to be taken care for keeping it without touching for an year.
And what would be the effect on the bike if I do so.

          Thanks in advance.

Well I was about to ask the same question. In my case the speedometer needle has stopped. The RPM Needle may stop or work depending on the battery output. I know my battery is down and replacing it would fix my Headlamp, Blinkers, Self-Start, Horn etc. I'm wondering why my Speedometer has stopped working?

I'm looking for Karizma R service manual. All I get is the spare parts manual. If any one is kind enough to provide one, it would be awesome.

              Thanks

Seems to be an issue with piston ring wear...Take it to a ASC and get the Compression checked. Let the ASC do the diagnosis for both the mechanical and Electrical problem.

Your speedo cable inner is cut. You can replace with OE cable or Splendor complete Speedo cable set(inner + outer) fits ZMA. Check for loose connection in the connector on top of the Starter Relay.

If changing speedo cable...replace the worm gear at the wheel hub as well cause it also might be damaged. It costs some 20 Rs. or so.

Will a 110/90 tyre need any modification to fit on a ZMA R? Some people mentioned a need to bend the link rod or adjust the chain cover? True?

If there is soot(black dust) covering it then your AFR screw is set to rich mix. Too much petrol for too little air. Ask the SVC guys or a good mechanic to set it for you.
If this is the problem your mileage will also be poor, you will not need choke to start in the morning but performance drops slightly when engine is warm. Worst case scenario it can stall when running, because the electrodes get blocked.

As for setting it yourself, don't attempt it unless you are confident since replacing a damaged AFR screw is difficult. If you do want to fix it yourself, look for a gold screw just below the tank on the left side(it's well hidden). Carefully turn it clockwise till it stops turning. Then turn it three full rounds anti clockwise. This is a basic default setting depending on other factors it can be fine tuned, senior members maybe able guide you further.
Good luck, also you could have considered the NGK Iridium.

yes my bike used to stall, but rarely though..
got my mechanic to do that, he has adjusted the afr screw and the bike goes vroooommmmm without choke now

read few posts where g-power was suggested/preferred much more than iridium

so the tip got black because the afr screw wasn't set to a optimum level, am i right ?

No I didnt mean stalling on cold mornings, I was referring to a rich mix(which I think you have) where AFR is not set right, a lot of soot will gather on the electrodes and then your bike wil start stalling, its not an immediate effect and can happen even after engine is properly warmed up.

Originally posted by undergroundrider View Post

Nothing wrong with g-power, some say it even improves mileage. Yes it is quite likely especially since you asked your mechanic to fix cold starting without clutch. He probably made the AFR mix rich so you could start without choke- not a good idea.

I have bought new front fairing panels..2 panels on either side of h/l , the one above and the visor. After bargaining a bit paid 2150. Have given it to my mechanic to reinforce the mounting points..as I dont have any time nowadays. I am also planning on changing the mid panels too.
