Carb is okay but culprit is the fuse. But now the bike wouldn't start, suspecting issues with fuse box or the wiring harness.

The symptoms, and now the auto reset of problem just confirms of the Dirty throttle slide getting stuck at times, and with slight jerk , or cooling of engine takes place the stuck slide will release by itself.....it will happen again some time later and so don't be alarmed. You can also try Tapping the Carbureter in the middle, with the blunt back of a Screw Driver or wood piece till the slide becomes free again.....Regarding fuse, just spray some WD40 or Zorrick on the contacts..it will prevent moisture deposition and corrosion which leads to erratic on/off condition.....
Another scary sudden engine stop, and electrical failure can be attributed to the Soldering on the ON/OFF IGNITION switch coming off due to frequent vibration and movement of handle bar.....the wire from the Ignition switch is thick and RED in color and goes under the Petrol tank on the Brake/ Kicker side......If the switch wires coming from the battery side is taken out and connected to each other, then the bike will run without ignition ON......or if you want a simpler solution, connect positive of Battery to one side of 15 Amps fuse under the seat, and you are good to go.....Remember the solution is only when the ignition switch fails..
Good Luck...

Exact symptoms as you mentioned. We took out the carb and did a thorough check and found no fault. Fuse was the culprit and yes I did spray some WD40 and its working now without any issues.

I had experienced the ignition switch problem about a year ago and soldered it and packed it with a metal wire so that the solder doesnt fail when turning the handle.

..If the switch wires coming from the battery side is taken out and connected to each other, then the bike will run without ignition ON......or if you want a simpler solution, connect positive of Battery to one side of 15 Amps fuse under the seat, and you are good to go..

Thank You sir and I will definitely remember this

Also Please help me out where I would get the sticker set for 2004 Black Premium Sports (with/without karizma metal logo), Im planning for a respray and was unable to find the set in JC Road. Any leads will help a lot.

Thanks in Advance.

I tried to start my bike today exactly after one month. It was lying idle since last one month. But the bike just didn\'t start after trying for over 15-20 minutes.

I pulled in the choke, pressed the starter but after 8-10 attempts of cranking, the battery went low and trip meter got reset. Engine cranking sound was normal. Also before attempting self start I tried starting using kick but all in vain even after 15-20 kicks. The bike is in reserve fuel mode. But I don\'t think that should be any problem as in reserve, Karizma holds upto two liters of petrol in reserve.

I also tried opening fuel cap to get rid of any air lock kind of case. Upon shaking the bike, I can notice that there is still some fuel available in fuel tank.

Though from past one year, I have hardly used my bike. Often it remains unused for a period of 15-20 days at a stretch but all the time it comes to life within 5-7 kicks when I start it.

This is the first time my bike is totally refusing to start at all!

Any pointers? Or should I take it to a mechanic?

Iam not an expert but sometimes the engine gets flooded with fuel and won't start...especially if fuel smell us coming from exhaust and won't start. If the crank us happening and won't start then try this...pull the clutch and give crank using kick few ttimes to get rid of flooded fuel....it may work...worth a shot .

since you park the bike 15 ~20 days regularly, the Petrol is bound to degenerate and become sticky...this leads to stuck float in carb, stuck or lazy valves, and plain bad petrol whose RON had gone way low,and will not fire up.....
1. Try opening the carb drain screw under the carb and see if you get petrol..
2. If you don\\\'t get petrol flowing freely, then stuck float needle....
3. If petrol flows, , remove spark plug, and pour 5ml of fresh petrol into cylinder, and try starting...
4. In any Case you need to clean the Petrol Tank of old Petrol and refill with Fresh one..

psr sir, I am having some query regarding Petrol. Sorry for bothering you with so many questions.

Sir, I have heard from my mechanic friend that petrol gets degraded in due course of time. In his words, petrol gets 'rotten' if unused for long time and it smells bad too. The mechanic friend also seen some engine seizure issue while using such petrol.
But on other hand, an old gentlemen working in a COCO petrol bunk told me that he has never seen such case of degradation of petrol in his lifetime. He told me that that 'density' of petrol changes with time but remains functional. He also quoted that he has seen petrol cars lying around for years, uses the same old petrol to start the engine and drive around before filling fresh petrol. He also added further, in metro cities and state close to international borders the oil companies stores huge quantities of petrol/ diesel in their depot as per the govt order and the fuel is kept for long to counter any emergency situation. Even in that case the fuel remains 100% functional.

So the question remains, does petrol degrades in due course of time? If 'yes', then how to counter this? I am worried because I rarely use my ZMA and I don't want to ruin the engine with bad fuel.

^^^

I don\'t think its the fuel that goes bad, but the kind of sludge formation in the fuel tank and the parts of it which can get into carb/engine and may cause issues. But it is highly unlikely to cause any major damage to engine.

Are you sure the engine is getting petrol? Sometimes old petrol can clog up needle or jet which can prevent it from flowing. If you can smell petrol at silencer end after cranking, its could be faulty ignition or wiring. If no petrol smell comes, check fuel supply lines to engine. Use choke for checking since it allows more petrol to flow into engine making diagnostics easy..

Not a rubber washer but a metal o ring(Probably its copper).

Air, petrol and spark should equal to a running engine. Since you have ruled out petrol issue check the other two.
Btw , when kicking the kicker there should be smell of petrol from the exhaust if fuel supply is ok.

Take the SP out and put it against the cylinder and crank, observe for spark. If there is spark then move on to the carburetor. If there is\\\'nt then go on further and inspect the CDI and IC.
If there is spark at SP and still bike is refusing to start then close the fuel tap and drain the carb, observe for water, and then try again, also ensure that there\\\'s no water in tank.

Regarding degenerating fuel, it is a possibility cause in the D100 I\\\'ve noticed that when bike is used after a few months of being idle, the bike would ping unless you give more throttle than what you normally do, it goes away after riding out the old fuel and refilling with fresh fuel. But that wont be a reason for the bike not starting at all, my ZMA is rarely used and its like used once in 6~9 months depending on my trimester break, but even then it is fine to start up. Same with the Kiney, it had fuel in it for years and years, once when I was a kid I remember that once when dad came on leave he tried to start it and initially it didnt, but he soaked the air filter in fuel and tried again, it started without much hassle, when asked he said it was because in 2T\\\'s the oil residue sludges up and clogs after not being used for a while, but fuel vapor helps by clearing it.

Smell of petrol in ZMA is when the motor is flooded, bike would refuse to start unless you crank in short bursts with the throttle at WOT.
O.T But in my D100, smell of petrol would come up when I start the bike with choke, might be a round slide carb thingi, cause while experimenting with the ZMA a bulleteer once told me that the reason for the bike misfiring is because the choke circuits on those carbs are too rich for normal 4T\\\'s.

EDIT:

CRF manual; cautioning the use of stale fuel.
