Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Not riding much these days since december due to harsh delhi winters. I am starting the bike once a week to keep the battery charged which is sealed.
Since I can not add water myself..should I get it checked from battery shop for water level etc? or it is fit & forget type?Last edited by anmol_1990; 01-03-2014, 09:01 PM."Biking is Divine"

In brief - no difference, same bike inside out. Better plastics though, after the split.Originally posted by michaeljohnson View PostHello fellow xbhp ians

Usually very good, sometimes nuts and bolts missing, and the honda badge. Pretty reliable overall, I would say.Originally posted by michaeljohnson View PostHello fellow xbhp ians

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I know a 2013 ZMA owner who calls me once in a while with a few queries, he's going in for a carb replacement.
In short, yeah the quality is pretty much the same.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
New Year Resolution : Be more Responsible and a Safe Rider !
Started off by ditching my 8000k HID (chinese kit) on my RedBull (ZMA '09) and plonking a normal 55/60W H4 Philips Halogen (not the Xtreme Vision, will upgrade to it soon!) which , to my surprise , found at my grandfathers house !
The beam was too high at first, so adjusted it properly using the headlight adjuster screw (with reference to owner's manual). Quite satisfied for now ! Will have to test it during long runs in the night
No more curses from motorists coming in opposite direction

Suggest you follow a couple of methods shown on the net to adjust your headlight. I believe there's also a thread or two on XBHP showing how to do so.
You'll need to be a few meters away from a wall, and on level ground, measure your headlight from ground up to the bulb (have someone sitting on it while doing the measurement), should not be on the mainstand or sidestand. Mark the same on the wall a few meters away and make another mark 2-3 inches below that. Your LOW light should be just below it and you'll have an accurate spread on the high beam without needing to adjust it.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Yes, ordered t he h4 bulb. and that sounds like a good idea. We also give us the opportunity to meet overOriginally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostGreat! Hope you have ordered H4 bulb and not any others. You can sell me the second bulb if you are getting a pair. Regarding the reflector melting, I am not sure if its happened after I put relay setup or it happened before. A little confusion here. There is possibility that it might have developed after the relay setup. So, for time being you just use the Nightbrakers without relay.karizmatic

Re: Electrical issue
I was using stock HH engine oil and now have just changed to Shell Ax7 10w40 engine oil at Shell petrol pump. They drained HH SVC mineral oil and poured in Ax7 semi-synthetic oil
I must say engine felt very smooth and vibrations were also seems to be decreased. But I am feeling as if my clutch is slipping and my top speed and power has decreased. It is taking a lot of effort to go beyond 80km/hr now, which was so easy with HH SVC oil. Also, acceleration has decreased (due to clutch slippage).
I am not sure, if I should continue with Shell Ax7 10w40 for next change and see if performance improves or I should switch to any other oil.

Oil used:- AX7 - 10w40
Tyre : M45 tubed.
Here is my experience on AX7 10w40 which I bought for Rs. 300 after discount. I changed the old oil (Mobil 1 10w40 fully synth) just for the sake of 1200kms road trip ahead. As it is was good but blame my proactive approach.
Next day (ride day), I started off my bike..it was bit rusty in the sense the acceleration was not that good. I was thinking that during course of time it should be ok. But that did not happen. My acceleration was comparitively less than before and the bike struggled the revv at 90- 100 kmph. I don't blame the oil, it was just that I was spoiled by fully synthetic which I was using for last 7-8k kms.
Lesson learned is my bike runs good when it is filled with fully synthetic oil. It's my personal opinion.
Thanks to PSR Sir for tweaking my bike's carb that I did not face major issue except that couple of times it did make the bike face the slide stuck like issue however, it disappeared soon than I expected that it would bring the bike to a halt.
Fuel- Thanks to my dear friends here, now I can vouch that ZMA tank capacity is around 15L as I was able to fill 14.70L when I just then hit the reserve however, did not fill to the brim so leaving some space for the breather to prevent air lock.
Economy- Since I own 2strokes, forgot the concept of calculating fuel economy consciously, however, made an attempt this time and found it had returned somewhere around 36kmpl overall. I was riding around 90-110kmph during the 4 lane highway and 10-20kmph during the 100 km ghats section.
Michelin M45 really performed well with tube where there only path exists and tarmac is long forgotten in Meghamalai town and around. Few big bikes that came along for the ride had a tough time going over the boulder like stones pathway and even lost traction that they just holded from almost fall during the slow speed ever-traction defying terrain.
ZMA performed as usually well and M45 was good enough that I was even took a pillion half the jourey on these challenging off-roads while exploring the mountain. Touchwood, I did not face any puncture, oh! let me not even say it. I should really consider lucky as there hardly any commerical establishments except for a small time tea shop cum fastfood type in that entire mountain top and mechanic shop is atleast 50kms down the hill.
After riding there at Meghamalai in those wonderful bed of roses, I would stop complaining about any bad patch or road in my city atleast for sometime.

If you have done more than 7k kms on your bike, then I would suggest you go through my other post as well. I had changed to Mobil1 10w40 FS oil before the road trip.Originally posted by ashvns View PostI am not sure, if I should continue with Shell Ax7 10w40 for next change and see if performance improves or I should switch to any other oil.

Seriously? My rear indicator just broke. It wasn't even running. Probably got knocked off by some kid here. Replaced them with the pulsar's, the ones with silicone stem.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostBetter plastics though, after the split.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
psr sir, I have checked cylinder compression for 5 karizmas, all run above 40k kms, except one, which had run 28k. The results were same for all these bikes, between 10.5 to 11 kg/cm2. Yet to get hold of a new ZMA. I am seeing around so many new ZMAs, but can't test them. Even if I request anyone, they might suspect me for doing something to their bike.
And sir, I think I have done something when I opened the carb and cleaned it. Since I cleaned the carb, if I keep the bike idle for around 10 seconds, suddenly the bike stalls as if the its cut-off. What have I done to cause this? It would start normally without any issues after the stall. As long as I hold the throttle, it doesn't happen. This is happening only when i leave the throttle for the bike to idle.
Sure! I would look forward to meet you soon. Note: I would do a free compression test for your bike when we meet. (Don't blame me if the gauge reads less compression and causes doubts in your mind :P).Originally posted by shirish View PostYes, ordered t he h4 bulb. and that sounds like a good idea. Did you remove the AFR? Please also ensure that you cleaned the jets, even a small piece of lodged dirt can ensure poor performance. Also you will need to re-do the idle setting (most probable cause) since you removed the throttle cable ends and put them back on the carb (since you mention that when giving a bit of acceleration steadies the RPM).
