Am George KT from Trivandrum owning 2005 Zma.

Its been long time since writing something in Xbhp threads.
From years of being here know you as a hard core Zma enthusiast and tester of new parts and set ups. Ravi

I will get directly to what am thinking and asking your opinion about.

Can we increase the power from old Zma's 17 ps to 19.2 ps as the new 2014 Zma R doesn't seems to have any engine wise change.

From my layman understanding they got this increase in power from tuning.

So will changing the carburetor or tuning box make that increase in our old Zma.

Am typing this from my mobile so pardon any font or typos.

Cheers.
Fellow Zma'ian.

Thanks Bud. I will be changing/checking all of that stuff over this weekend.

You may already know it as you live in malad, but I strongly suggest Bhagwati Scooter House on chincholi bunder road as your main spares vendor especially for Zma parts. He's an awesome stockist. Only, stress on OE parts at least six times every time you buy, as he has parts from many other sources too. But once he comes to know your preference he will always give you the real deal. He's not my guy for oil though. I religiously use Motul 7100 10W40 which he doesn't stock...

Yeah I normally buy from them or from kk auto on sv road. They are pretty good too. How's Motul 7100 for the Karizma. I have 2 free services left to go on the bike.

Motul is nirvana. Magical. Once you use it, you're hooked. At least it was that way for me. 7100 is ultimate. I always stick to W40 grade as it suits me best. The bike rather. You can also use 5100 10W40. One word though, the first time you pour in Motul, the magic doesn't hit you instantly, instead it takes about 50 km at least for the magic to kick in and from there on its bliss. Don't know the reason but that's how it is. If you can carry it along during your services and convince your svc to pour it in for you well and good or else you will have to do it yourself. You can use their Hero oil for about 1k kms and switch over later, or wait to finish your free services and then switch over. Your choice. Happy ridin'...

I have been using Mobil 1 FS 10w40. I used it for my 3.8k kms road trip and it was the same all through till 4.7k kms.

Shell Ultra 10w40 is also equally good. We have discussed these in the past.

I have used Motul all types as a staunch believer. Later realized they start to fade soon as 2k kms in my personal experience.

Hi guys, I need tools for my karizma R to just open every possible thing. I've this strong urge to learn about my bike.

There is rust form in and around the tank cap. How do I get it cleaned? Do I need a whole tank cleaning ? Any product recommendation that should be used for clean up.

On a side note, I gave this bike to ASC in Chennai this month also to have the tank/carburetor cleaned. But those ASS returned it without doing it. When questioned, they replied it was not needed.

I need to hunt a mechanic that can do the job, not knowing the local language makes it harder.

Anyway, love to hear from you guys. Thanks.

Hi All,

Got the 5th service done on the bike yesterday. Got the airfilter, spark plug and engine oil (used Motul 7100 10w40 FS) replaced along with other standard checks done on the bike.

The bikes brilliant now. Smooth and accelerates really really well. My quest for a commuter/family bike/tourer finally ends and im extremely happy with the purchase.

Update: Adjusted the AFR using the tip from Mr @psr a couple of pages ago. Using 3.5 turns of the screw. Very peppy indeed! Even more happy now. Cheers!!

Hi,

Returned yesterday from 1500km solo trip to Munsyari ( Altitude- 9000ft )

Route- Lucknow-pilibhit-champawat- pithoragarh- Munsiyari

After getting carb choke problem sorted out i started my trip, for few 100 Kms all was well but again bike started missing/jerking, I continued my journey anyway. On plains I had no major issues apart from hiccups in acceleration but as hills started bike refused to go above 4500 RPM while climbing gradients ( this is the point where missing/jerking happening ). Though bike was climbing gradients in 3rd/4th gear at 4500RPM but at slow speed 40/45km/hr but not able to go further in revs and speed on gradients.

When I reached at highest altitude 8000-9000ft, I felt that all power lost and could do in 2nd and 3rd gear only at 4500RPM, somehow slowly reached munsyari.

I was so sad for this issue that I clicked only 2 pics of entire trip...

After returning Lucknow I called once again Hero motocorp engineer and he told me to replace carb with new one in warranty.

Guys, now I dont trust anyone in Hero or SC, pl suggest what could be the real issue. Any ignition system related, timing relatedor others.

Experts pl help.

only pics-
