There are things which make it useful and there are things which looks beautiful.
I find rear drum is more than enough for our ZMA. No need to go for disc unless you really want to have.
Some may argue quoting about other bike which has disc at the rear, but that is purely for argument sake.

I appreciate the efforts gone in making the rear to disc, if that had been for better power transmission worth trying it.

I purely find rear disc to be a cosmetic that our drum brakes can handle in our bike's capacity.
well sriram i am running a workshop ( not bikes ) , the work load was bit low for the last 2 months and lot more free times so its easy to fabricate parts . first i got rear caliper, brake lines and master cylinder from my cousin so i fabricated the rest parts and done it , thats all. it was really fun to DIYing stuffs for the loved ones

    mods done so far -

swapped switch assembly with FZ16 with engine off ( engine kill )setup

The rear disc mod is welcome. I would consider it for my zma. My zma rear break pad get stuck to the inner drum, the bike does a slow wobble because of that. Have to make the cylinder surface rough with sand paper each time i change the braek shoe. However, the disc can be a solution i think.

the disc pads were completely worn out,
Strangely it sufficed for only 8k kms!!
However the new original hero disc pads for zma are freaking expensive!!!
and the squeaking sound from the rear suspension is now history, it got fixed on its own lol

For how many kms does the zma disc pad last though?

Brake pads are consumables. Dont worry that they got over too early, just make sure that they did not scrape the rotor, cause its ****ing expensive.

If you dont mind alternatives, then the Apache's pad is a direct fit, wont last long but costs only 250~300/-, so its your call.

I told ya! Even in mine the squeaking went away on its own, but if its in warranty....hmmmm... you get it right

              Yup, correct!!

The mechanic didn't tell me anything about the rotor

he said the pads are worn off and thats why the noise is coming

i asked him to check for anything else, he said sab theek hai :P

Keep checking the condition of brake pads every 2-3k kms. A visual inspection should do.
My experience with RTR pads (used for 1k km) wasn't good though. The rotor had slight marks induced on it.

Hmm... dont pads that last longer cause the rotor to wear out faster ??

IMO, rotors' life depends on the make of pads. Let's take cintered brake pads. I feel though they provide better braking, they eat up the rotors sooner.
My colleague (a guy who worships his N250) had to replace the front rotor at 45ish k on the ODO. I have used OE pads for 66 out of the 67k I have done and the rotor is fine. It hasn't worn out yet.

I think pads life depend on the materials used to make it an on how often/hard you use the brakes. A longer lasting pad has to be made of harder materials... hence should cause rotor to wear out faster.

Yes. That is what I was trying to say. Also I have heard that RTR pads contain more abrasive materials (Cu/Al etc) than OE Nissin pads. Regardless of their life, they end up scratching the rotor.

If sintered brake pads provide better stopping, I wouldn't mind changing rotar disc short of life. For me safety comes first. Earlier I had a close shave with Fortuner who swayed to left to over take mini van without realizing I was maintaining my lane soon after loosing the traffic, had it not been sharp braking, could have ended knocked down for sure. It really made sense for buying ebc brake pads.

N250R's pads are sintered and a direct fit. They cost the same too. I have been wishing to fit them for a long time but eventually gave up after finding none in stock.
You'd get some grinding sound from the rotor for the 1st few hundred kms. That would be the pads bedding in with the rotor and nothing to worry. And yes, you would see an improvement in braking distances for sure.
