Guys, my lifetime SOLO trip to ladakh is finalised in june 3rd week, for which I bought zma in 2013 sep. Pl suggest what spares should I carry specific to zma apart from regular spares like clutch lever, cables etc?
I have tubeless tyres, do I switch to dual purpose tyres or mrf zapper TL 8k kms old will be ok?
For improving night visibility, I am thinking of 55/60w bulb with relay. Will this set up put load on electricals with horn, indicators etc. Will it be reliable set up for 5k tour of ladakh? once I tried hid projector setup but its useless so switched back to stock.
Also I read in forums that zma loses a lot of power on high altitude, any diy remedy for this on the go. Like removing air filter, wire in jet, or should I learn to set lean AFR?
Spares to be carried are:
Cables
Headlight bulb.
Fuses (7.5/15/20) for fuse box and starter relay
Spare headlight bulb (55/60w)
Standard tool kit
Multi tool.
One spare wire of good quality , about 500mm
Engine oil.
Insulation tape
Zorrick/WD40
Chain links.
Spark plug
...... to name a few .
I found the Ceat Secura2.75-18 + Ceat vertigo Sport 120/80-18 to be the best combo for the terrain if u are okay with using tube type tyres.
Regarding power loss , its not just zma all vehicles suffer from power loss due to lack of oxygen at higher altitude. You dont have to do any fancy stuffs that most mechs in manali suggest like using a wire in the carb/put a k&N(for which they charge a bomb if u are unaware). Just remove the air filter hose, that should help. But keep the hose in a safe place as its difficult to source one though it cost less than Rs.40/- you need not even touch the air filter if you are running on a good AFR in the plains.

I don't think so. I'm assuming that hose and snorkel are the same.Originally posted by acs1207 View PostBut wont removing the hose let dust particles and other bigger dirt in ??!!
Air flow would be a little more and the bike would have a lovely grunt too. But at the end of the day, the air filter element being the same, dirt wouldn't seep through!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Like divya said , it just creates more area for air flow , and not touching the filter means the quality of air fed into the carb doesn't change. Also the hose doesn't restrict any sized dirt or other particles inOriginally posted by acs1207 View PostBut wont removing the hose let dust particles and other bigger dirt in ??!!

Ok.. I misunderstood. I thought the carb will have access to open air. My bad. [emoji3]Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostI don't think so. I'm assuming that hose and snorkel are the same.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The aftermarket ones available in the market are fake clip ons that you bolt onto the handle bracket, they are very unreliable and risky to use. If you intend to use proper clip ons then it would set you back by 5k atleast i.e the ZMR's clip ons. After market ones from superbikes wont fit as the fork dia is too small. Better settle with replacing with a stock handle bar, or if you dont mind sacrificing on comfort for maneuverability then you can opt for Pulsar handle bars.Originally posted by deepak.adhana View PostShould I use clip on handlebars on my karizma r -09
It is effective, hence the implementation in ZMR and not to mention the fact that is has fairings. But the ZMA would definitely run without it. Though if it is your wish to process then it would not be much of a hassle as Rahul Moshal had converted P180 to P220 and also installed the oil cooler which he said was just plug and play, I expect the same level of difficulty on installing the ZMR oil cooler to the ZMA.Originally posted by vineeshvv View Postoil cooler in zmr is it effective ??Motorcycling Experience:
