    Draining the carburetor comes later , after your tank is fully dried . Else rusty water shall invade the cleaned carburetor from the tank as soon as you attach it , isn't it ?

    To take out the tank you need to undo just one bolt , and the wire that connects it to fuel meter , and the fuel line from below . Take it out , remove the tank cap assembly fully , usually you need one allen-key for this , get the size you need beforehand . Remove the fuel petcock . Clean all . Drain as much as possible from tank by upturning it . Wash insides with detergent then water and dry in the sun for a whole day ( some water shall stay inside even after turning over ) . Clean the carburetor and replace the fuel line . Refit everything back . Quite easy , although a bit time taking , but no other way to do it either . And do hurry - that water is rusting your fuel tank's insides right now .

      Guys my zma is due for service, I plan on switching the engine oil brand

      So far I've used shell and motul, however this time I've read a few posts on Gulf and intend on using it

      Could you guys suggest which one should I use

      1) Gulf Pride 4t Plus 20w-40
      Gulf :: Lubricant Products

      OR

      2) Gulf Pride 4T Plus 10w-30
      Gulf :: Lubricant Products

Any suggestions what can be done? because i have heard people getting a speed of 100-120 on Karizma R. Should I plan for a overhaul? my bike has done approx around 50k by now. Suggestions please?

        P.S : I am also planning a trip to Lonavla in a month or two, would it be safe with such speed on a National Highway?
        Buddy, the zma R can't run with 80kmph at 4k rpm. The ideal rpm/speed ratio is 1000:16 at 5th gear. Since its 50k kms old, check clutch plates(do you get sluggish initial acceleration?).

        Since you are in Mumbai with Hot summer for next 3 months, Use any 20w40 grade mineral oil. It will keep engine cool in summer heat with less vibrations. Shell Advanced 20w40 is also good. 1litre sells at 250. Gulf pride is not available at all shops and comes with 900ml pack.
        20w40 oil does make your bike slightly sluggish, but overall it's very good oil for engine's health.

          I might be wrong with the rpm thing, guess it was on 5-6 k, but surely not above that. I don't get any sluggish initial acceleration, but do you think changing the clutch plates would make the bike more free for the run?

            Good suggestions Pinaki,
            couple of mine - you don't need an allen key in the ZMA's case (the tank does not have a separate cover like the pulsars). There are THREE things to look out for, fuel level cable, water drain hole pipe and fuel pipe.

            He might want to check the carb slide first before replacing clutch plates? Also check the choke functionality (is it getting stuck)?

            Swingarm bushes were also replaced at the same time, as was the rear axle sleeve as I felt a slight misalignment of the rear wheel. Didn't bother with pictures of the entire process. Old parts here.

            Ignition wiring seemed to be loose and bike was shutting down randomly on turns, so re-soldered the ignition contacts. No issues now.
