Hi Guys, I have just bought a 2nd hand Karizma R, I am looking for a place in Mumbai to repair the fairing of the bike. I don't want to buy a whole new body kit. But there are certain cracks and damages in the front cowl near the fittings and some cracks near the side panel fitting. Any clue where I can get it REPAIRED in Mumbai?

Really looking forward for a response here

You can repair it at home. Use Araldite for broken fairing joints. M Seal works too, but for a short term. Open all broken fibre parts, Araldite it and leave overnight!
        Fit back in the morning.

P.S - Araldite is available in most hardware shops.

Before buying the bike from the 1st owner I got the engine painted from a mechanic with normal black spray paint, does this effect the performance of the bike in any manner? I am noticing a bit of smoke coming out every now and then from the engine, I asked my mechanic about it and he said its because of the paint which is going off because of the heat the engine is producing? Any suggestions guys?

Yes I Will try that and post the pictures here also if possible.

Your mechanic is right! No issues. Its just the paint evaporating.

Any alternative for painting the engine, because it looks ugly after the paint goes off the engine. I have seen my friend's CB Unicorn which has a black matte finish paint over all the visible metal parts on the bike and the engine. Its even on the whole silencer pipe, where usually the color tends to peel of in most of the bikes because of the constant heat and at times even gets badly rusted. But my friend's bike is still the same, the color hasn't worn out from anywhere. How much does that type of painting cost?

Powder coating for the engine. Sand paper treatment for the exhaust. Powder coat on the exhaust last few months only.
No idea on the cost as I never bothered with it.

Have any of you guys had waterlogged tanks? The keyhole of the tank cap is letting water in and the engine is stalling. I had changed the entire lock set a year back on SVC guys' suggestion and the problem is back!

The bike has been standing still for 2 weeks now. I tried getting the water out last weekend but failed. Drained the petrol through the fuel cock first, then tried to siphon out the remaining water-petrol mix. Put some half a litre of petrol after the siphon, turned on the engine but couldn't get out of my lane since the bike stalled as soon as I touched 2000 rpm.

Anyway I can get the water out without having to remove my tank? If I have to remove my tank, any special tools, procedure and precautions that I need to take? And how can I stop this from happening in the future? Psr/sriram/Seniors please help.

Oh BTW, I found out the keyhole is leaking by sealing the tank cap in place with a plastic bag. Water got collected in the middle when it rained last here in Delhi.

When you remove the tank lid there should be a small hole in the well which surrounds the hole where the fuel goes in. That is the water drain hole. If that hole is blocked then water gets into the tank.
Apart from removing petrol from the tank and tap you also have to remove petrol from the carb.
The image attached is the only one I could get.. it is from another thread in the forum.

                          Hey acs,
The hole that you've mentioned is clean. I started paying more attention to it after the last time this happened. So I'm assuming everything needs to be removed and drained for the bike to start running again..? Is it possible for me to take it up as a DIY or can only a mechanic help?

For cleaning the fuel tap.. use spanner to remove bottom part.
Carb.. try removing the fuel drain screw at the bottom .. it is on the side.

Ah! Do I need to worry about residual water inside the tank? Or will the carb draining also remove that water?
                              Thanks for the help acs.

                                Hi Guys,

My Karizma is not giving me a speed more than 80(with pillion). My bike runs stable at the speed of 80 in the 5th Gear and at an rpm of 4k, Like I am giving full throttle, but the bike doesn't go any further than 80. Any suggestions what can be done? because i have heard people getting a speed of 100-120 on Karizma R. Should I plan for a overhaul? my bike has done approx around 50k by now. Suggestions please?

P.S : I am also planning a trip to Lonavla in a month or two, would it be safe with such speed on a National Highway?
