@psr Sir.. Good to see you back in this thread after a long time SirOriginally posted by psr View PostIf the color of smoke is blueish white then it is engine oil getting into the combustion chamber....If the smoke is only at the start and there is no appreciable decrease in engine oil level ie., no more than 50~80 ml for every 1,000 Kms,(sane riding) then suspect the Valve stem seals leak, which needs replacement.
I have a pre-owned Karizma R 2012 model, that has clocked ~34000 kms.
Like sanjaynk15 mentioned, my bike is suffering from the same problem.
The only difference is that it does not happen everyday. The bike was kept idle for about three days and when I did a cold start after 3rd day, I had the same problem. Continuous white smoke emission for approximately 20 to 30 seconds. What could be the issue here Sir?
I then inspected the oil levels the next day morning (before cranking) using the dip stick. The oil level was until the top horizontal bar "--" mark.
I have clocked close to ~1600 kms since last service.Jet Set Go!!!
My Rides :
Bajaj Discover 135 DTS-i (2008 June - 2015 July)
Bajaj Pulsar 220F (2014 Nov - Till date)

Welcome back PSR sir
If there is smoke at the start of the bike, but no further smoke afterwards 99% of the time it is the Valve stem seals....It is important that the oil level is checked every 500~800 Kms just to ensure that there is no high level of oil consumption , which will lead to less oil in engine and ultimate engine seizure....
Still with stem seal leak also the oil level will reduce at a higher than normal level, and leads to carbon build up in the combustion chamber which is not good, since it will lead to pre-ignition/detonation killing the Piston, conrod and crankshaft....So better to take the bike to the ASC and get the Compression checked , and if low, will warrant change of bore+piston kit. Otherwise just the stem seal change will cure the problem
Most importantly you will have peace of mind and have a reliable bike which you can use for long tours and a worry less ownership.
Good Luck. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

I will get the valve stem seal checked at ASC.
I already have a clutch plate replacement job pending. Will club both this time.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R Ownership Experience
Guys, I dont know what to say as my age old problem of missing/jerking between 4k to 5k rpm has been solved by myself by adjusting throttle cable slack and changing throttle grip.
Test rode for 30kms ripping the bike.
I am so relieved now....hope this is the root cause and not come again.

Bought a pre-owned Karizma
Hi everyone, I just bought a pre-owned HH Karizma-2006 Model Black color, with 24.5k on odo. No scratches on the bike except for some swirl marks.
Great upgrade from my Honda Stunner, Karizma's pulling power is very addictive and very relaxed to ride at high speeds. soooooper.
Old Spark plug condition
Dirt below fuel tap

Really surprising to know that the throttle cable and grip would be the culprit..
Anyways .. Good that you backed off on your decision in selling your ZMA
.
Happy Riding !!!
Harishbsrao.. Congrats on your new ride. Welcome to the ZMA family..
.
Kudos to the way the bike was maintained. Looks like it was delivered from the showroom.
I was also on the hunt for a crash guard for my ZMA. I got OEM Honda Unicorn 150 crash guard for 750 bucks.
But I could not get it fixed because the crash guard was pressing against the front cowl. And also, the OEM U-clamp that came with the crash guard was too short for holding the crash guard on a ZMA.
So, I would advise that you can try out the crash guards of other bikes and not go for Unicorn ones.
I guess Honda Stunner / Hero Ignitor crash guard would be a good fit, since they have parallel bars (like the pulsar 220 ones) and not of the "butterfly" shapes like the ones on a Honda Unicorn.
Time for me to do a Cam Chain Tensioner replacement.
Waiting for your DIY on that.

Throttle grip I changed just because It was not rotating smoothly. Observed that after release of throttle it was not going back to its normal close position smoothly.
Honda Shine crash guard fits directly but after removing engine cowl. Just you have to install little bigger engine mounting bolt.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R Ownership Experience
Harishbsrao, I'm surprised that OE air filter cost ₹485. Though it's a fact that I stocked many consumables in advance due to supply issues, I last got my air filters for ₹280 last year. 485 is a big amount.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
