Usually this happens to me too, but happens only during cold starts and vanishes when the bike is rode for about a km or two.

If you have a similar observation, then IMHO, I would say this is normal.

If that isn't the case, the issue might be similar to the issue faced by one of the forum members : @ankit.traveller

He had a similar issue and he had eventually fixed it.

I would advise you to read through the forum pages from Page : 1805.

Hope this helps !

Yesterday, changed fork oil and fork oil seals for the first time after 35k on odo. Magic, my handling is back and ride was very smooth. Bike handling is near perfect now. Thank you all for helping me out.

What I don't understand is guys at H service centre, bike zone and 2 road side mechanics couldn't identify this issue. I have been running around them from past 2 months. One mechanic even advised me only to change fork oil when it is leaking out.

I'm experiencing a weird problem in my ZMA after cleaning the carburetor.

The power at rpm below 3k is good but the bike is struggling to rev further. at around 5k rpm the engine doesn't produce any extra power. I thought that the main jet is clogged and cleaned the main jet and replaced the rubber diaphragm kit (Rs.667 MRP). but even after doing this, i'm not getting the top end response.

Before cleaning the carb the bike used to pull good till 100 kmph, but now it's not going above 70kmph. Also, there is a growl sound while idling and closing the throttle, any advice on this please.

Background of my bike:

Model: 2006
Kms on odo: 26000
Engine oil: Shell Rimula R4 (Recommended by PSR), earlier used Shell AX7
AFR screw is at 3.5 full turns
Replaced Cam Chain Tensioner (Only tensioner part)
Adjusted Valve clearance to 1mm on both intake and exhaust sides
Replaced Air filter (genuine Hero)
Spark plug used: NGK G power - DPR8EAGP-9
Cleaned the fuel strainer, fuel tap and carburetor with 3M carb & choke cleaner.

Only thing i've overlooked while cleaning the carb is the needle jet. would this be the problem?

Has anybody experienced this problem? I request the experts to kindly help me solve this problem. Thank you....

Harishbsrao: has the bike been exposed to continuous rain? Water in the tank could lead to such problems. Do check if there is rusting in the fuel tank, fuel outlet in the tank. These are the only things I can think of apart from tuning or carburettor. Do let us know.

Hi Folks

I changed my ZMA-R front fork oil ...after changing the oil the suspension got stiffer.. the mech of service center told me it will take some run in time to get the softness back !!.

Is it true that suspension needs some time to become effective !!

Initially he had put 160ml oil in each fork.. but after that it felt like i am riding a bicycle .. no absorption at all. Immediate i told them to fix it .Then they changed the oil level to 150ml , after-that the shocks are playing a bit but not as usual. The sponginess has gone now.I am running my bike with 150ml settings and whenever i hit a pot hole there is thud sound and the the shocks hit the bottom as if there is no more space for play.

• Karizma R - How often should I change its cylinder kit?

I replaced my cylinder kit (with other tiny parts) at 28000 KM of my Karzima R (2011 model) and the engine was running smooth. It's now 48000 KM in ODO and there is a slight oil leakage on the engine head (starting point of the exhaust). I had the engine opened and the service guys say that there's a small scratch on the cylinder wall and that I should replace the cylinder kit. I'm really confused how this 'scratch' has happened since I ride at a normal speed (4-5K RPM) and I do change the oil every 2-3k KM. I would get a second opinion for this but, however, if that's the case, what are the possible reasons that could have caused this 'scratch'?

I had already gone through this cylinder-piston problem once (at 28K KM) and now it's eating up my head again. I would like to know if this problem is critical - I know it's but would like to know if it's okay to ride with this for a three months. I'm on a pretty tight budget and I can get it replaced only by then.

1. What caused this scratch?

2. What are the possible consequences if I ride like this for three months?

3. How to prevent this in future?

Someone, please help!

Is it a good decision to buy a ZMA now considering the availability of spares?

I bought a 2004 Hero Honda Karizma last October. I am searching for spares as well. But I think its a good decision to buy this bike. Because, even if you have struggle, it will still be worth it!

I had bought a used ZMA recently.
I have changed the following spares at the main spares dealer/ASC in south Kerala (Diya Hero). I didn't find any issue with getting the parts.
Air filter
Spark plug
Clutch cable
Choke cable
Speedo cable
Left side switch gear

For checking the availability of spares I asked them about chain set, CDI etc, which were readily available with them. And they said, all parts are available and if something not in their inventory they will place order for it.
Bangalore being a major city you should be able to get the spares from the main spare parts dealer. Bangalore XBHPians can comment on it better.

Nothing is available in Bangalore in one shot without placing an order. Be it rear pads (zmr), viscous air filter (better stocks of late), foot rests, bar end weights (zma and zmr have different weights), engine oil (veedol - not related to hero) etc.
Smaller towns and cities have often helped me with running spares.

Surpising!
Cities usually have more ZMA's than small towns and villages. Wonder why they are not keeping the spares.
Atleast spares like air filter, foot rests, brake pads etc should be readily available.

Frankly speaking both the mods you are asking for is just gonna be a money drain. The stock front ones are more than necessary. By installing thicker ones you will end up having heavier front thus affecting the handling of the bike majorly. For rear monoshocks are a good option but again you will end up spending more for very minute gain or might end up losing the stability of the bike. I would suggest against these mods but if you are hell bent on these, then find a good mechanic who can get this done.

I think it could be the gasket which has gone from the engine head assembly for oil leakage.
1) Regarding the scratch, it could be due to uneven wear and tear of piston rings. I am not sure here though. But if you not facing any problem apart from oil leak then I don't see a problem.
2) Do check for white smoke, oil level, oil quantity while draining. If your bike has been drinking engine oil then time for another new bore and piston. Else not much to worry I believe.
Get a second opinion if possible. Also suggest engine oil drain at 2000-2500 kms at most with servicing at the same time.

Odo - 39k

There is a problem with my bike front wheel or front part from past few months. The front wheel or handle kinda wobbles/vibrates above 50 speed. Also, if the road is little uneven the bike leans to one side making me scary.

Chain Sprocket, swing arm bushes are stock ones.

Both tyres, fork oil, coneset, front wheel bearings are replaced . No bend in the tyre rim or forks.

Thanks in advance.
