Sam, ZMA gearbox has tradionally been that way. and i like it coz i get the feel of the gear shift unlike the sleeker one which leave you wondering sometimesOriginally posted by 1235sam View Postguys i have completed around 2000 km on my 3 months old ZMA R . The very hard gear shift is ruining my riding pleasure
- .Any suggestion ?

and let me assure you,it's not making any harm to the gear box.Try and test few other ZMAs as well and you will come to know. Also put on some mileage on your odo and the gearbox should settle further(experience: 11K in five months). Dont bother much and enjoy your ride.
Its just that u've been riding CBX before that's making you to be so worried.
Ravi Anna, any inputs from your side?Last edited by ZMAtic; 05-15-2010, 06:53 AM.***Correct me if I am wrong :)

Nothing much to comment.Originally posted by 1235sam View Postguys i have completed around 2000 km on my 3 months old ZMA R . The very hard gear shift is ruining my riding pleasure
- It makes click noise and i can feel the pressure even inside my shoes.I had changed oil twice - first around 100km and secondly during 1st service. After 1st service gear became little smoother but after some time, back to square one
I had been using CBZ-X for 3 years before ZMA and gear shift was super smooth . I miss it . I even went to HH SC to fix the problem, mechanic adjusted clutch cable, but it did not help.I change my gears around 3500 RPM .Any suggestion ?
When I bought my ZMA, gear shifting was pain.
I went to SVC, they adjusted clutch plate setting & it became butter smooth.
Even my friend who rode my bike was surprised of its smoothness.
Check with SVC guys once again if needed.

guys i have completed 13k on my zma r
used gulf [chucked it out]
using power 1 10w 30 pleasant riding.using NGK irridium.
FE 30-32 [tips please my riding range is 60-90, traffic mostly nd doubles]
i always stand nd get my bike serivced the HH mech never cleaned the oil filter, so is it necessary that be cleaned??? can someone post the pics of the inside of the engine showing the oil filterand some direxions
thakns in advance.
I bought a k&n nd its lying at home cause i noticed something the air box has 3 tubes
1)coming from the carb[ this is where generelly every one attaches the filter the fat one]
2)from the air pump:which has 2 outlets
a) our carbs are cv carbs [constant vol] so the rem vol which is not filled by A/F mix during low revs is filled with air coming from the air pump whihc most people leave open so dirt enters that...
b) for reducing emissions 1 outlet of the pump goes to the exhaust valve for treating any hot unburnt hydrocarbons.
3)the breather for the crank case [this should also not be closed or ur oil seals will fail too earlf nd if u teave it open the dirt can go in as there is also a small amt of sucn at the breather.nd i dont need to explain what that can do.
so please check before u put the airfilter and please help me out with the oil filter thing.
thanksLast edited by mdqayyum2007; 05-18-2010, 10:41 PM.

Done 10k kms on my feb 08 zma. For long i have noticed a thud sound from the gearbox which is a bit louder than other bikes i have ridden. when i start the bike and apply the first gear. There is a thud sound, what might be causing it to be loud ?Biking is the ultimate addiction, cocaine is just powder.

Hi ...check out the link below
Karizma + C-ABS Mould2 picture by sonushar - Photobucket
I was expecting the ZMR to be in these lines of design, but different design that Hero Honda guyz have messed up with.
Hope they will come out with the 250 similar to the design....

Hi. New to this thread but old to Xbhp. Requesting some help from all of you.
I have a new ZMA-R and on speeds above 55kmph the bike seems to wobble i.e. handle shakes. I have shown it to the service centre folks and they did something however I do not see the improvement. Can anyone suggest a good mechanic, decent and knowledgeable in Bangalore? And near Koramangala?
When the bike wobbles if I apply pressure on left foot peg the bike stabilizes a bit.
Apart from that these are the upcoming mods and any suggestions?
1.Tubeless from ZMR front.
2. Tubeless 120/80 or 130/80 -- any suggestions?
3. Rear Discs from ZMR.
4. Change battery from existing to 9V Amaron on stock wiring.
5. 55/60 W Osram Nightbreakers
6. Planning to add 2 more spot lights for highway night rides -- wiring suggestions?
7. If anyone can get me wiring diagram then planning to have a separate battery and wiring loop only for two additional beams --(i take illumination seriously)
Plus some more

couple of questios
1. Cost of chain sproket(heard there are 2 qualities)
2. Cost of front mud guard
3. Cost of clutch plates.
4. Cost of Clutchcable, accelaration cable, speedo cable.
My battery is out and I need to change it.what are my options.any dry cell battery available?
can I fit a ceat vertigo 120/90 or sirac 120/90 without removing the chain guard?

I get 45-50 70% highway. Treat the throttle as though its made of egg. Gentle, don't twist harshly for quick acceleration. Take your sweet time off in traffic lights and keep below 65 kmph and your FE will increase. I don't think there is oil filter. There is some sort of net for filtration where you let out the oil.Originally posted by mdqayyum2007 View Post...

Better change it now, unless you know for certain that the previous owner has filled it with recommended oil recently. Just check oil level.Originally posted by d@rk nemesis View PostGuys yesterday I have got my karizma zma 2005 model done 23k.
Now what basic tests should I perform on the bike.I dont know anything as this is my first bike.
Like how will I know when to change oil.
Please help me out guys.
2k for mineral oil. 4+ for fully synthetic oil.
I use BP Speed only. Don't know how good they actually are. But it does gives me a peace of mind. Many ZMA owners have changed to 9v, all I heard is positive result. You can search the forum for details. I will also change to 9v in the future. My batt is still going strong.Originally posted by krUnIzZlE View PostHello Everyone, i wanted to ask.
