Bad luck with my choice

Hi Guys,

I bought a Karizma R, on 24th April 2010.
Till first 250 Kms it was all fine.

Later I started experiencing a noise from engine.
I got it checked with SVC n was told it's a loose tappet that is causing it.
It was (allegedly) rectified by SVC.

I took my bike only to find the problem has not gone away.
When I visited SVC again, I was told it may be oil pump problem.
After 2-3 days I was told that it has been rectified.

I took delivery again only to find the noise has really not gone away.
This time I lost it, bike had hardly covered 450 Kms.
I again went to SVC.

Now, after 2 weeks, they have found out that oil pump was faulty which cause piston to misalign & caused a scratch on piston cover.
I have seen it myself.

They say piston cover & oil pump needs to be changed.
But I really don't know if this will solve my problem.
I think it's a manufacturing defect.

I am going to SVC & blast them out to give me such a faulty bike.
Even one of the engineer said this problem should have come in such a new bike.

Please advice me as what can be the problem.
I have lost all faith as I chose ZMA-R over P220 DTSi for its reliability.
Friends laugh at me now.

A quick question. Which vfm Maintainance-free battery for an 04 ZMA? Amaron/Exide?
Lemme know the cost also. Need to buy one tomorow!

Surendra, manufacturing defects will be there with all manufacturers. Please contact higher officials at Hero Honda. Go to HH website and take contact information and mail to them. Your issue will be solved.

Remember, do not waste time by blasting SVC people. Explain your problem to the higher officials and they would look in to the matter.

Near my place amaraon with 5yr warranty is retailing for 1700/- and Exide bikers with 18months warranty for 1600/-

somewhat similar experience

i purchased new Karizma R in Jan this year. Just after 10 days there was problem with choke and RPM was fluctuating , gave bike to SC for 2 days and problem got rectified. After few days speedometer stopped working
At the begining of this month , some noise started coming from engine. Gave bike to SC and got it back after 10 days Dont know why it took so long to solve the problem Now from yesterday i feel like noise is coming again but to smaller extend

I had CBZ-X for 3 years and i never faced a single problem , touchwood. Now after this worst experience with Karizma I have also lost all the faith in HH . sometimes i wonder why I sold my CBZ-X .

Amaron is better than Exide. Go for Amaron.

ok, But i feel 1.7k is too much for Amaron. Will check for the prices in some other shops! Any idea about the price?

It used to be around 1400-1500 a year back. Now the prices might have increased. As you said, just check with other dealers and try to negotiate the price.

its the same here even in noida.. my friend got it installed some days back for his bike.. it meant Rs. 1800 to us here..

btw is Shell 10w40 better than HH default oil ?

Glad u found the bulb according to your liking..and the shell grade is 10w30 not 10w40

Hi Friends,
Bought a pair of Osram Night Breakers from GP-Road in Chennai. Got it installed by the HH-folks near my home. Only 5-6kms done after the installation...so far the light output is awesome. No comments yet on battery life among other things....hoping nothing goes wrong

(HH SC guys tried scaring me - tried talking me out of this expensive bulb installation - but i persisted that i wanted to experiment).

I bought the set for Rs1100 inc VAT and original bill. The bulb-set packaging was so complicated that we couldnt open it for a while.

ps: I think the bulb focusses nearer than the std HH ZMA bulb..so need to adjust the focussing (thru screw provided under the headlight) to get the throw abt 7-12m away from the front of the bike. So that the hi-beam is ready to 'blind' the oncoming idiotic car guyz (who dont know what hi-beam in their car means)
