Yes, pre 2007 Karizma had less mileage due to advanced ignition timing w.r.t post 2007 models.
It had a very solid pickup, not that the newer ones were slow but when compared side by side, the older one was crazy.
Mileage for pre 2007 models hovered between 26-28 kmpl.
Post 2007, Hero retarted the timing a bit. The bike lost some grunt and gained on mileage. It delivers up to 35 kmpl easily. With a gentle throttle input, you can extract even 40.

Hi Guys, me and my zma did ladakh circuit recently. Except huge power loss at high altitude (even Uni and apache overtaking me) on Leh-Manali highway, no issues faced at all. Power loss issue was taken care by putting a thin wire in carb main jet after reaching Leh then completed Khardung la, Chang la, Nubra and pangong without any power losss issue. Changed tyres to MRF NV series MOGRIP Meteor-M 100/90-18 TL, this tyre is damn good for its purpose. No falls, no punctures, no breakdown, no spares used in entire 3500Km+ trip.

Hope you had a nice drive ankit.traveller .

Can you post more pictures of your ZMA?

I am keen at taking a closer look at the crash guard on your ZMA.

Can you also tell me what crash guard has been installed?

Its Honda Shine crash guard and direct fit, you have to just get a lilbit long engine mounting bolt. Will post close pics later.

25 kmpl is too less. Mileage of around 35-38 is what you can expect if sanely ridden. Pick up any models from 2008-11 with less odo reading and preferably single owner. I don't think a rebuild will be required as Karizma is quite a reliable engine. Do test ride a few before you choose one. And get it thorough serviced and change the necessary parts. Probably if you have some money left still invest on some protective riding gears.

can someone help me source the following

1- original fairings
2- air box
3- speedo ( new or used) mine isnt working
properly. its got a mind of it own
it works sometimes but mostly not!!!

i am from hyderabad where would be my
best bet to find these parts.
I own 2004 candy blazing red with stock fairings etc. Over the years there are minor scratches and cracks developed on plastics. My hunt for the candy red went in vain after my tries not only in my city but even other parts of India. So I have decided to maintain the current fairings and consciously taking care while parking and touring. I should really mention that even over the years of abuse the paint is still intact and glowing.

Apologies for the OT.

I'm experiencing a problem with my 2004 ZMA.

It looks like electrical issue.

The bike switches off when running. Lights, horn, indicators, self starter work but the bike wont start.

Give it a gap of about ten to fifteen minutes it starts in a jiffy.

I have checked all loose connection including fuses, and ignition switch.

Neutral lights glows too.

Anyone experienced similar issues and fixed it ?

Please advise.

Try the earth wire mod.
Take a connection with a good quality harness and attach the negative terminal of your battery to any point on the chassis (battery cage/engine mounting bolt). This should help.

Also, see if the wires in electrical circuitry have fungus built on them.

Hello All !!

Is it a good option of having an oil cooler kit in ZMA-R?

Was exploring a naked ZMR today in service center.

From whatever I could observe, the ZMR oil cooler kit looks like a fit in ZMA-R.

I could see that :

[1] The ZMA-R RH clutch assembly case has to be replaced with the ZMR's RH clutch assembly case.
[2] ZMA-R kicker lever has to be removed.
[3] Some slight modifications to mount the oil cooler kit.

I ride close to 50 kms per day. For the same distance, my ZMA-R gets heated up more than my Pulsar-220.

I was wondering if having an oil cooler kit from ZMR installed in my ZMA-R could be of value.

Please provide your suggestions on this.

I'm planning to buy a pre owned ZMA due to my disappointing ownership of the Honda Uni 160[emoji20]. What would be a good price for a 2011-12 R model having run around 20k kms in Bengaluru?

Anywhere between 40-50k max. Anything above that you are just paying more. Have a test ride of couple of them before you decide on one.

Do have a look at Safex Bikes . We had procured few panels when restoring a friends Zma. The Quality is on Par with the OE ones at a much lesser price.
