37mm forks could be shared with glamour or other bikes. This segment standard is above 40 mm.
17 inch alloys are a downgrade in my opinion.
Many other bikes have semi digital speedometer. It is already in some other bikes too.
Engine kill switch? As a feature?

Show me where the value is. I can’t find it anywhere. Show me what it brings to this segment? Engine kill switch?
Disc is as same size of karizma but brake calipers are bigger now, must have better stopping power than karizma,
37 mm is still first in hero,
17 inch alloys is definatey a advantage as you get choose from variety of tyres available.
And my point wasnt about bringing new to race segment, i clearly mentioned it could be first step of hero to race segment.
Karizma was the only bike hero had in 200 cc range. Xtreme is not powerful enough, but if you check the reviews and pricing it is under a lac segment, while all other 150 cc bikes which are faster than xtreme costs above 1.2 lac on road.
Im not trying to praise a hero for brand name, im just wishing and hoping hero to make a comeback, and xtreme 200 could be heros first step.

17 Inch alloys are better just because, user gets to chose from a variety of choices. I think this is wrong.

They never had any intent to make any better product. They made all money on selling <100 cc bikes. They went on to buy exquisite bike maker Eric Buel Racing.
They never attempted to make a 200 or 300 cc segment. I am not sure how they went from <100CC maker to a buyer of bikes who makes ? 1000 cc.

They never had any intent to make anything good. If you see this new 200 CC model, you see most of the chasis and components will be shared with Xtreme 150, with few new parts thrown in.

When you want to enter into an extremely crowded segment, you don't re-bore an existing bike and launch it with new Engine kill switch.
You need to build a product ground up which brings new value to the segment. Once you are there, you should use this platform to expand further.
But their plan seems to expand on the existing 150 platform, which never did well in the first place. They modified it and pasted huge stickers, which they are good at. I have no hopes for them. Sorry, this hurts but, by looking at their steps, this is what they actually want.

its not something big for us,but a definitely a big step for hero ,that atleast they are trying
something in 200cc and during launch the executives said that they would be focusing more on launching bikes for the youth,
        They may improve with time.

For a better bike, they need better chassis and new parts. But what they did with this launch was extending the 150 Xtreme to 200. How could they further extend it to cater to different bikes?
Not sure what they will launch. God !! Just saying my opinion on their pathetic launch.

Recently I am having some issue with the Karizma engine.
I was abroad so didn’t use the bike for 30+ days. Bike started like a champ in 5-6th try on self-start + choke. But there is some compression leak noise similar to old Royal Enfield’s. (Like Psst..psst…psst)
Its varies with respect to RPM. I’m also have feeling bike had lost a lot of power.
I changed oil after driving it for 100Kms because it was due and bike was sitting idle for 30+ Days.
But I’m sure this is an issue related to piston or compression.

ITs is a 2007 ZMA R …I service my bike well, changed timing chain and clutch 5 months ago. Oil is 800km old.
So rather than taking it to service center or a workshop and hear their imaginative taughts.
I taught of ask for some advice here
            Thanks in advance!
get the valves check,it might the possible that when you started bike after long time ,it might have got bent, other than that there might be no reason for a bike to go wrong while standing in the garage.

Yes launch is pathetic, we cant forget how they kept promising on hxr250 and hatsur but no signs releasing them. But i believe it could be because EBR went bankcorrupt. Whatever the reason is i think hero should change their R & D staff. They are brainless. Coming back to karizma thread, Hero will sell better even if they launch old zma with 6 speed transmission and more power with looks kept untouched . Karizma is the only gem that came out of hero factory thanks to honda crf 230f engine.

Honda won’t allow launching it. Engine and chassis are from Honda, so no way they will be allowed to launch. Especially when Honda is in these segments.

Even unicorn 150 uses similar chassis and its gold. Agility is weak but, touring and comfort are just sublime.

hero can launch it,but will have to pay huge royalties to honda,if they use the same engine and chassis
Talking about EBR being an american company, the desigining concept is very different in america as compared to india
that made the karizma r 2014 a huge flop.
Coming to hastur, hero just showcased for its name. According to various sources, when auto expo was about to start ,hero had nothing to showcase ,they gave order to some desiners to to design a bike just to showcase it,the hastur shown at auto expo had no engine, just body.So i dont expect anything good from hero stable.

I just love honda engines, they were all great, hero shoud have never broke the partnership with honda, hero honda name itself was a brand.

Moving onto different topic, im planning to put pulsar rs 200 twin projectors in my karizma r.
A guy on youtube named saurav has already done that in same model.

                    My questions is,
                    1. How can i make karizma both beam to lit up in high beam mode
                    2. Can karizma can handle 55w and 65 w bulbs both at a time when im in high beam mode.

                      .
Hero wanted to export, like Bajaj.
Honda operates in many countries like we had hero Honda.
So, there was a big clash. Now hero doesn’t export either.
Honda plans were to be India’s no1 by 2020. They are too close to it now.

Regarding mods, keep it stock. It will remain trouble free. Why you wanna seek problems from a discontinued bike?

Reason i want to upgrade because stock headlights are shit, i cant see more than 30/40 feets on highway in full dark. I avoid night riding, but in my last trip from Udaipur to ahmedabad i was riding for 4 hours in full dark reliying on road side markers and headlights from overtaking cars. I had to reach ahmedabad to catch flight and was riding at speed of 90, completely keeping faith in god and on my instincts to avoid potholes. Headlight upgradation is a must for touring purpose. And only projectors can resolve it.

Can some one suggest if atleast 1 projector of 55w can be handled by karizma?

the older can handle one of 55w easily, dont know whether the alternator of new zma is same or not, make sure you use the correct relay, and dont forget to turn off the switch of headlight when you park the bike,i have used one in mine, the h4 bi xenon 4300k ,it worked good without any problems.

Umm... i Dont think So. If you are doing it, you are doing it on your own risk.
The lights glow and everything works, but be prepared to see the whole wiring go down. Try to use Relay to overcome this issue or Switch to LED Lights.
Karizma's reflector isnt that great, so try before you buy.

I completely agree with the folks who have suggested against messing up with the stock setup.
I did a lot of research on HIDs are higher watt bulbs. The HIDs are famous for screwing up the wiring and higher wat bulbs spoil the reflectors.
I wanted a system that is foolproof and does not leave me stranded in a remote place in the middle of the night. Some light is better than No light at all.

I have got 2 x 10 watts each auxiliary LEDs lights installed below the faring directly mounted on the chassis.
The wiring is parallel to the stock wiring (so no cuts on the stock wiring) with a relay and fuse is installed in-line. The circuit is active only when the ignition is turned ON.

On 4 lane highways and ghats, the system along with stock light does a decent job. I have a yellow beam from the stock in between and the white from LEDs illuminating the rest of the road. In the foggy and raining conditions, the white light from LEDs is pretty useless, that is where the stock headlight (halogen) shines!

I had thought of using the aux lights only on highways but there are too many idiots who drive with a high beam in the city, so these LEDs are a sort of middle finger to them.

You can read about my setup here on my blog.

                                Thanks,
