If you need for ready reference my zma does 97-98 at 6k rpm right now, and with my old front sprocket earlier which was weared out too much, it used to do sharp 90 at 6k rpm
just wanted to know that there is any difference in rpm and speed between original
    and makino.
Although makino plates are going good
    My speed in particular gear
    1 till 40kmph
    2 till 60
    3 till 72-73
    4 till 85
    5 till 120

Above speeds are when you rev hard, not to be confused when driving sanely.

"You have selected too large image. Maximum allowed size is 19 kb". I tried compressing the image to 15 kb[emoji23] . But the error message is always there.

Om1234, what is the purpose of the rubber tube from the part between the carburetor and engine which can be located nearby fuel valve?

most of them compress image to such an extent that the pixels fade out,and image is not clear. 19kb is very small size for an image.Even my screenshot is greater than 19kb.

Sorry for the late reply. It turned out the carb was not the issue. We opened the engine after suspecting the vibrations might be due to crank shaft play. The piston and bore had lots of wear and scratches so ultimately decided to do an engine overhaul. Crank did have play. We had replaced everything in head along with the timing chain and tensioner before. The bore and piston had a lot of wear which kind of confirmed our doubt about a tampered or replaced odometer. I got the bike with 25k on clock but the engine showed wear of at least 50k+. Later we found evidence of a straightened frame after a major crash which more or less confirmed that the previous owner took me for a ride. I should've been more alert in hindsight. And there was a chip in third gear teeth also. Thanks to extreme difficulty in finding new gears the whole process has come to a halt. None of the service centers in thrissur(kerala) are able to give a time frame for the availability of gears. I'm contemplating on selling the bike after fixing it up. I cannot live with it anymore thanks to my OCD. I've almost spent 7-8k on it in 5-6 months on top of what I paid for it already

try getting a scrap condition karizma or its engine, you will get it around 5k ,and replace the damaged gears, and start your zma with a new heart.

                          Hello all,

Been facing a unique problem since winter set in in the Himalayas. Please guide on where to start troubleshooting.

Bike starts in the morning with choke and idles fine at 1.2/1.5 rpm for about 10 minutes. When I depress the clutch lever, can hear a distinct "kharrr" sound (not too loud) from the clutch side at bottom. When I shift into gear and start leaving the clutch, bike stalls and engine goes off. I usually have to rev and rev till about 5k for clutch to "latch on" to engage the drive train.

Bike sounds like it is wheezing and running out of breath. Always happens every day - taking up about 15-20 mins to get going.

What could be the problem? Clutch / Carb / air filter / Engine oil?

FYI --- I live near Manali and night temperatures do fall below zero on most nights these days.

for the kharr sound thing i have a solution
Everyday before starting the bike ,
put the bike in neutral ,press the clutch lever ,and give a kick to the kick starter so that it goes till bottom, and then go .
You would not hear that sound now.
It mainly happens when clutch plate are sticking, giving a kick would free up,the plates.

Thanks for the tip, buddy. Do you (anyone else) think that the clutch plates are maybe burnt? What about the take-off problem after starting?
