It could be that the usable reserve is only 1.5 to 1.7L. The rest of the petrol is not usable though present.Originally posted by rohan16081987 View Post

Its from the 2011 ZMA onwards.I had asked the svc what is this hole, but their response was" its for the battery"Originally posted by inder.cool View PostI also didn't see it on my ZMA..Don't know whats that for..
When i opened Ashwin's ZMA i found that there is nothing for battery.
Its just a hole.

My Karizma is having a peculiar problem now. Sometimes, its very hard to shift in to neutral even with throttle blipping. And many times, it just works fine. When its very hard to put in neutral, I switch off the ignition and then try to put in first gear and it happily goes into first gear without any issue.
Anybody knows why is this? Rest of the gears are fine. Its only between first, neutral, and second. And it goes into neutral only with throttle blip.

Guess that hole was in later Karizmas...there must be some design flaws ...!

Oil changed very recently, 1200 kms back and its 10w30 from Honda (not Hero). I highly doubt that its just because of the w30 oil.Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View Post^^^ When was the oil changed last time?

The oil must have deteriorated

I have 3 cans of Petronas Sprinta with me now. But, the gear shifting is hard only 30% and the remaining time it works very much fine. I wonder why its happening. Lets see the response from PSR, our guru.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostTry putting Petronas FS 10w30.. its very good. Gear shifting is smooth

I will use the Sprinta FS next time on wards and see if there will be any difference.
Its a Honda oil and it will not deteriorate that early, but anyway I will check it once. But the shifting is like this even before the previous oil change. It happened even when the oil was new.Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View Post1200kms on 10W30 oil.

What can be done is, whenever you are slowing down or parking..so while on the way only shift to neutral.

@ Ravi I am no guru at anything, just another guy born before most of you, been lucky to gather ,and remember some data....thats all..Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostI have 3 cans of Petronas Sprinta with me now. Regarding the hard shift ,I had noted the same more with 10w30 than 20w40..it becomes more evident with heating, and even with 20w40 after doing 110 Kmph for about 20 to 30 minutes, or creeping for long (20 minutes or more in hot Sun)in city traffic, the specific problem crops up. Heat seem to make the oil thin and leads to hard shifts. still a 20w40 gives less problem when hot than a 10w30.Finding the neutral ofcourse is possible from 2 nd gear only, and very rarely I can get the Neutral from the first.
Just my thought.Last edited by psr; 04-27-2012, 07:40 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Yours is an older model, without maintenance free battery, I presume.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostI have never seen on any other Karizma-R, or may be I am noticing it for the first time.
Its best you assume it to be 1L reserve, only then you can save yourself from embarasment, i.e if you know what I mean.Originally posted by rohan16081987 View Posti had noticed that the ZMA petrol reserve capacity is 1.5L and not 2L (Mention by the company).
Have anyone notice that, if so please let me know.
10W30 Literally sucks. Better upgrade to 20W40, try Yamalube Mineral 20W40, its the best I've used till date.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostMy Karizma is having a peculiar problem now. Sir, Im currently running on 10W30 that the SVC put in during the last service. And hence am also facing the issues with the gear shifts and all.Originally posted by psr View PostRegarding the hard shift ,I had noted the same more with 10w30 than 20w40..it becomes more evident with heating, and even with 20w40 after doing 110 Kmph for about 20 to 30 minutes, or creeping for long (20 minutes or more in hot Sun)in city traffic, the specific problem crops up. But recently I'm facing another issue, sometimes when starting the bike, theres a cable whipping sound comming from the engine, the same that comes in old cars when the accelerator cable breaks and keeps on rotating. It only happens sometimes, and also is prominent while the bikes in idle and never goes away, until its restarted. So wanted to know whether theres anything wrong with the bike???Motorcycling Experience:

Your guess is as good as mine, since I had never faced this peculiar problem or heard the sound...may be the de compressor is getting partially stuck..I dont know...Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostBut recently I'm facing another issue, sometimes when starting the bike, theres a cable whipping sound comming from the engine, the same that comes in old cars when the accelerator cable breaks and keeps on rotating. The compressor is part of the cam right??? So replacing the cam would solve my issues right???Originally posted by psr View PostYour guess is as good as mine, since I had never faced this peculiar problem or heard the sound...may be the de compressor is getting partially stuck..I dont know...Motorcycling Experience:
