Thanks for verifying sir, when you mentioned increased engine sound, I assumed it to be from the change in stroke, but now I guess its just cause the engines in run in period.

The extra gasket was put in to offset the extra length from gudgeon pin to piston top as well as to compensate for the increase in compression .
The thing about deck size is a valid reason and a must. But compensation for increase in compression sounds disagreeable, especially since the mod was done with the intention of bumping compression. Or maybe I missed something.

Theoretically , yes . But then there is also the chance of a blown gasket if there is gap for oil leak .
    Confused.

When we do the things the way they are not meant to be done then there's always the chance of something going wrong . The point is to do it as best as we can . My mech has mentioned Crux being rebored to over 150 cc ( for drags ).
+100000 Agreed!!! . Have also heard of ZMA's being bored to the limits using car pistons as well as Pulsars being bored beyond 300cc mark.

Don't be jealous . When I met Vineeth bro I told him I'll be gradually making mods to my ride which will make it more like his bike than a standard ZMA.
If everything goes as expected, then I guess this mod will be epic, atleast for guys like me who cant afford to cross states to get it done.

Thats what I used to believe up and untill I owned the ZMA, these bikes are'nt manufactured the way they manufacture cars. They are assembles and put together by hand, and hence theres a greater chance of error.

    @Aneesh-
Do you remeber the first time we removed my fairing???? Even before us touching the fairing the rubber's on both sides were misaligned and one of em was even popping out, we had applied super glue to keep them in place. BTW they're still in perfect place.

And my fairing, the stupid thing was rattling like anything, I had to do an overhaul with double sided tape to fix the issue, and havent faced much issues with it till now. (Except for a few squeaks caused by inferior double sided tape, which was replaced.)

Now coming to the finale. Many bikes in the first batch of 2011 ZMA's have faced issues regarding a mis aligned cylinder kit, which caused the gudgeon pin to scratch the cylinder wall. Many users have ignored the wierd engine sound and continued riding the bike, but a few us, stood strong and convinced the SVC's open up the engine and hence finally found the root cause and hence solving it within warranty itself.

So if you ask me what I've learnt from the above, then its that, we should never ever believe anyone or anything, unless the thing in question has been personally prepped by our own hands.

Blade fuses come in universal size. But I am finding it very hard to source the 7.5A rated fuse. Here 15A and above rated fuses are only easily available.
You can either approach Diya cause they now stock everything, else, IIRC you have an Alto right???? Check its fuse box for spares. If lucky will get a 7.5A.

The mod doesn't mean increasing compression ratio . The CC has been raised , but the compression ratio can't go beyond the tolerance level the bike was built for . Actually I'd like it to be the same as original . With no means to check the compression , I'm just guessing .
      Confused.
If there is gap for oil to seep through , that is a weak spot and at combustion at high compression , might blow the gasket too .(edit: not sure about how things are with metal gasket )

It can be done . Just that ur mech has to know what's being done or u hav to know . Once ur warranty is over , if you want to contact my mech to do it , I'll assist you with more care than I've done with my ride .
@ ashwin - If you know what to do , it'd cost you just a weekend bash - well maybe total cost of a month's weekend bashes ....!!! It ain't that DIY though ! BTW , ur fone seems to be switched off .

Sir, I dont bash, its just me and my ride. Thats why am so much confident in doing the mods, actually a few months ago, was just a step away from getting my bike Joel'd, had contacted him and arranged the funds and everything, but the idea of crossing states brought fear, especially since I dont have my documents. But I guess riding upto Kannur wont be a fuss at all.

Anyways your lucky Im not from Kannur, else would've pestered you alot.

And sir, are you using metal gaskets???

! BTW , ur fone seems to be switched off .
OMG!!!!!! Completely forgot about my phone!!!!
We were facing constant power cuts for the past week(Hope, you've heard about the disasters.), so had kept phone aside, and it seems I've eventually lost track of it.
          Will get it running asap.
          And sir check your pm.

          • The ZMA head gasket that comes between the top head and the bore is made of metal and consists of three layers..the top , and bottom layers are 0.01 thickness while the center one is about 0.5.....

              • I just noticed a 2012 ZMA yesterday with rear-disk.
The bike was redg in KL and was shocked to see the rear-disk on it. Haven't seen this on the web-site or even on any other 2012 ZMA in Bangalore. Is this just one-off bike or now the ZMA's are coming with rear-disk.

Its a modded one i guess. No rear brakes as OEM on ZMA-R AFAIK.

                    • Anybody knows whats the hole in the black side panel of Karizma in the above pic? Never seen it before. It appears factory-made.
