• Re: Karizma/Karizma R Ownership Experience

My 2012 karizma r was not starting before two weeks and the mechanic told me the problem is with compression. He opened the head and changed one valve. The camshaft and rocker arms also showed some wear. So I decided to change them too. He changed above mentioned parts and tensioner and some small parts.
Now the bike starts and works like it used to be.
For this two weeks, I've been using a gixxer 155 and it was a lot smoother than my karizma. I thought my bike would be ok and the vibrations will decrease after these works. I hate hitting higher rpms in karizma because of these vibrations. What could be the problem? Any idea?

I have no info on your ZMA except for the problem you had submitted...What is the year of manufacture ? What is the ODO reading..What had been the maintenance schedule followed. Which engine oil , and grade you are using ?.Is the vibe in particular RPM band or from idle ? by vibration you are mentioning Panel vibes or vibes in body like foorpegs, handle bar etc...
Karizma is known for one of the smoothest engine with flat torque curve..and Gixxer cannot be compared with it. Still Check for lean AFR setting, bad spark plug, and spark plug Cap. Do not use Champion plugs. use 10w40 engine oil of good repute..avoid Castrol since duplicates abound in market.Get your Chain lubricated and Set Tension correctly..over loose or tight chain both will cause vibes...Non or poorly lubricated chain also causes Vibes in any bike..
Good Luck

psr sir, it is 2012 hh make zma. I bought it 7 months ago seeing 22000 kms in odo. But when we opened the engine head, the mechanic told me that the bike has done around 80000 kms. And yes, the footpegs, handlebar and the whole body vibrates. We can see little vibration of the body when it is in stand idle. I can feel the roughness and vibes increasing when I twist the throttle. I'm using shell semi synth 10w40. Chain has done more than 10k kms but it is perfectly tightened. The spark plug is ngk. I'm sure that the problem is not with tuning because I've tested it with different carb settings. It became a little bit smoother in 3 turns of AFR screw. But I must say that it is very viby. I used to take gixxer 100+ kmph regularly but I don't like doing it in my zma because of the vibration. I've also replaced the air filter. I don't know what to do😞

@ Rydergeorge..
If it is true that your vehicle had done 80 K + then there is a probability that parts other than the ones you replaced were also worn like crank bearings, conrod big end bearing, gear box bearing etc., which may be contributing to the vibes...
Wear marks on Cam and cam follower(rockers) only confirm that the previous owner had not done proper maintenance with timely oil change with a good engine oil. Most modern gasoline engine oils have reduced ZDDP, a compound necessary for protecting the moving parts esp., the valve drive train , and it is for this reason I had moved on to Shell HDEO oil Rimula R4..you may give it a try though worn parts cannot be corrected without replacement. From what you have posted , your engine was totally unloved by previous owner and he had thrashed it around...So you may have to go for a part by part replacement after evaluation...
Good luck..

My cousin's bike was totalled by his friend.
This was months ago.

Except engine everything is either new or sourced from used vehicles.

I'll try to replace the worn parts when I open the engine next time. Unfortunately, I've bought hp racer4synth 10w30. Will try rimula r4 next time. I'm planning to change my spark plug to ngk g power. Read a lot about it. [emoji4]

Well I used rimula r4 suggested by PSR believe its best oil I used.

Because in summer my bike produce lot of heat and the heat come to my leg area. But using this oil my heating was reduced and clutch working smoothly, low vibration. I can feel the difference.

In my city temperature goes 40 to 50 C.
