It's around 86k now. My bank balance doesn't allow me to ride much. But in last few years I have managed to ride carefree.

Till couple of years back I had no idea about the clutch plates change interval. Until my father's 3 yr old Unicorn had to change the clutch plates, as both the bikes are taken care by same mechanic he informed me about unicorn's worn-out clutch plates. On enquiring how to check he said there are couple ways. First the bike will lack in pick up and restricted speeds and second one is when you pop clutch lever and the bike doesn't shuts off means plates are gone.

Serviced my 2011 ZMA this evening and these main works were done:
                  1. Engine oil change ---> From whatever to Shell Advance AX7 10W40
                  2. LHS Fork slight bend detected and oil leaking -->> Rectified bend, changed both oil seals and fork oil topped with Veedol x 2 165ml bottles (this one)

Bike feels alright, engine feels happy. But have a few questions for you experienced folks:
                  1. Mechanic used 1.2L of Shell oil after drain. What's the correct capacity for engine oil on a ZMA?
                  2. Front suspension has become pretty stiff. It's jarring on Himalayan roads where potholes appear out of nowhere. Is one bottle in each fork, overkill? Should I drain some out or does it get better after time?
                  3. I'll be off riding to Spiti soon. Choke lever is unavailable everywhere here. Any tips on cold starting the bike in mornings (currently, I spend around 8 mins kick-starting the bike, gently) Does anyone here own a one kickstart ZMA?

Tomorrow, I'll also try and fix the front fairing with enough doubletape and araldite. Hopefully it'll stop the rattling. Will replace this at a later date.

Please help with any positive thoughts you may have on the above. Thank you.
165ml per fork should be fine. Too much air in front tyre also causes the front to be stiff! Do check the front tyre pressure.
If I am not mistaken, it is 25psi.

It is heart warming to see activity in Karizma thread. Karizma is long forgotten now, especially when the Orange, Green and Blue flags are flying high!

It is still alive and going strong if you ask me. I am sure it wont be forgotten so soon. There are still a few who love it and will keep it going for more years to come.

Very well said! I am trying to be one of them. It has been 4.5 years of ownership. Every six months or so, I get this attack of upgrading. I do the showroom visits and get the quotes. And when I hop on my Karizma again, somehow the EMI's + cost of ownership of the new powerful bike does not seem to make any sense!

but still it is coming to an end now

                          very less number of karizmas
                          were sold after 2013
after hero and honda split up

very few bikers have maintained there karizmas

now many karizmas are eating dust
                          in garages
thanks to poor policy by hero

                          in years to come
it would be a forgotten hero

Thanks buddy! Figured that out earlier itself. Guys here just pump arbit amounts of air, now i insist on 26 (f) and 30/32 (r).

Just returned yesterday from a 11-day solo ride across Kullu-Kinnaur-Spiti valleys (820kms) and the machine (Lhamo is her name ) never gave any trouble. Only filled fuel, checked air pressure occasionally, and replaced two bolts (bottom exhaust + LHS panel) that rattled off thanks to our great Indian roads. Here's a photo:

At one point, I checked miles to litres spent, and was shocked to see it delivered almost 50 kmpl! Please tell me I'm daydreaming, guys. But i do have absolute calculations based on the 15 litre tank capacity.

After this ride, I have no doubts about its capability and can seriously recommend a ZMA to anyone wanting to travel wide distances and terrains. Saw so many Enfields throwing tantrums it was funny.

For anyone interested, these were installed before the trip:
                                Shell Advance AX7 oil 10w40
Bosch spark plug - normal 80 rs
Normal Bosch H4 bulb - direct fit - 80 rs
New HH chain+sprocket - 1100 rs (only because it was clicking when I bought the bike a month ago)

Given the horrible Manali-Kaza road, I'm interested in replacing the front stock Zapper FS which has gone quite bald and has minute cracks pretty much all over. Picture here:

Any recommendations for a good MRF/Ceat front tyre, especially for off-roading?
