    cowl helps in engine cooling
as the bike is air cooled, and evenly distributes the air

also it protects the engine from water splashes.

    I would recommend getting one!

Thanks buddy! I'll try and source one from here. Since you're from the neighbouring hill state, any suggestion on average price of the cowl? (Things are priced higher here in Kullu, you know!) Also, have you ever faced any stability issues on hills, with the cowl on? :-)

Let me play the devil's advocate here - do not put that cowl. It hinders air flow while moving. No wonder most senior riders removed the same.
Some folks even fit Honda Stunner's leg guard for practical reasons.
          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

            For form use engine cowl.
For function get rid of it and get a leg guard.

For better lighting a 55/60 w bulb is recommended. Osram and Philips have bulbs that gives better illumination than normal halogens, but at a price. It is better to upgrade your battery if you are upgrading your h/l bulb. A relay is recommended. If you can source it LED indicators and tail lights can be used.

For better results from your zma please go through this thread from head to toe. [emoji2]

Thanks acs1207 and Divya! I feel a leg guard is better too. Will check Honda Stunner crash guard if available here. Will it be a direct fit?

I've been through this entire thread for weeks now, but had to ask since some answers were really old. :-)

Yes, my headlamp is not very bright. I'll check what battery i have, and figure out the philips xtremevision/Osram connections. Thanks again.

                  UPDATE
Other spares I'd ordered didn't arrive at the HH centre today. BUT! Installed a Stunner crash guard, was a direct fit. Only Engine cowl bracket was removed. Bike suddenly looks a bit meatier, I like it.

The side reflectors were screwed on to the chassis directly. Here are some photos if it helps someone:

Although the bike looks good with the lower cowl. This setup is much more practical and will save some damage to u and the bike if it ever tips over or crashes. Unfortunately u have to choose between one of the two. With the cowl on u can't use a leg guard and vice versa
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

Not a problem. I prefer practical reasons more than show, a leg guard is just fine.

The leg guard looks great and nice idea on the new position for reflectors
No offense mate - bike looks very dirty, why don't you give her a wash?

Hahah! Yes, a wash is overdue. Waiting for all parts, install, service and then WASH! I hate not using stock parts, so was thrilled when I found the perfect spot for reflectors.
