If you feel that the oil has fouled it wouldn't hurt to change sooner and regarding Iridiums, its a waste, lasts long but the price is not justified.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I've witnessed a few accusations made by customers, and on one instance a wrecked bike was reconditioned for an unsuspecting customer as well, the only time I dropped my bike was when I had to get the cylinder replaced under warranty. The rest of the time I just kept on pestering them.Originally posted by undergroundrider View PostDo you guys drop your bikes at the service center.?
I've heard a lot about replacing of good parts with faulty parts and other malpractices that are done by them

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Tomorrow going to Dehradun for 4 days. Lucknow-Dehradun - 550kms, total journey will be 1200km. Engine oil is 1000km old. Should I change engine oil for this ride?
Today hero SC head mechanic suggesting me to go for Castrol Power1 as it is best suited to ZMA engine. Is it true?

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Mixed reviews, Vineeth bro said its good as long as you get the original one, and since there are lot of fakes floating around, I would suggest you opt for something else. At 375 or less the AX7 seems attractive, never used it though, but I've used the AX5 and it was good considering its price.Originally posted by ankit.traveller View PostTomorrow going to Dehradun for 4 days. In case if price isn't an issue, which engine oil should one be using.?Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostMixed reviews, Vineeth bro said its good as long as you get the original one, and since there are lot of fakes floating around, I would suggest you opt for something else. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Better settle with AX7 at 375/- or Ultra at around 900/- but for the ZMA the AX7 would suffice, I go by the principle of changing oil as soon as it goes bad, I've changed Motul 300V at 1.5k kms and it was a big loss considering the 1k I paid for the oil, hence it would always be best to keep a check on the oils life and the amount your paying for it.Originally posted by undergroundrider View PostIn case if price isn't an issue, which engine oil should one be using.?Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
If you have changed 300V at 1.5k kms , there might be something else wrong in the engine or its just your gut feel. 300V is waay better than what you have quoted. First time hearing somebody changing 300v for 1.5k kms.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostBetter settle with AX7 at 375/- or Ultra at around 900/- but for the ZMA the AX7 would suffice, I go by the principle of changing oil as soon as it goes bad, I've changed Motul 300V at 1.5k kms and it was a big loss considering the 1k I paid for the oil, hence it would always be best to keep a check on the oils life and the amount your paying for it.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The oil worked well when I rode the bike to Bangalore and on my return journey from there to Palakkad, i.e 1.2k kms everything was fine, then my illiterate friend rode the bike with me pillion for barely 100~150kms, and the oil fouled and started to reek, the ride quality also dropped drastically, so was forced to change the oil early.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
So basically you mean the riding quality defines the rate of oil quality degradation ?Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostThe oil worked well when I rode the bike to Bangalore and on my return journey from there to Palakkad, i.e 1.2k kms everything was fine, then my illiterate friend rode the bike with me pillion for barely 100~150kms, and the oil fouled and started to reek, the ride quality also dropped drastically, so was forced to change the oil early.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Absolutely. After you've done considerable miles on a bike using a particular oil, you know if somethings wrong no matter how small it is. This is how the bike was ridden,Originally posted by acs1207 View PostSo basically you mean the riding quality defines the rate of oil quality degradation ?

750~800kms at a stretch by me, idle for a couple of days then 450~500kms at a stretch by me, then 100~150kms at a stretch by my friend, and then the remaining by me.
The possibility of judgement error is very less if you notice the riding pattern, since the rides were almost on a continuous basis even the slightest change was clearly felt. And the guy who's good with bigger bikes was not that experienced when it came to smaller bikes and knocked the crap out the engine, shortly after which the bike started to reek of burnt oil and the performance went down, I needed to give more throttle to achieve similar speeds.
What it looked like on draining.Last edited by ashwinprakas; 03-22-2014, 04:44 PM.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Not a convincing explanation buddy. If 150kms or even 300kms of super crazy riding with no respect to the engine would have screwed up the engine oil that too a factory line FS, then mineral oils don't have the eligibility to be poured into the engines at all.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostThe oil worked well when I rode the bike to Bangalore and on my return journey from there to Palakkad, i.e 1.2k kms everything was fine, then my illiterate friend rode the bike with me pillion for barely 100~150kms, and the oil fouled and started to reek, the ride quality also dropped drastically, so was forced to change the oil early.

Post 2011 models did they Change the Casing design ? If yes, then looks Similar to P200NS.
End of the day, its your machine, your money. But didn't match with my experience with the 300V, that's why wanted to clarify.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I did keep the bike idle for a day after reaching home to see if the constant riding was the cause of the performance loss, but no improvement, hence changed to AX5 as it was easily available and the problem was solved. When using the 7100 I had a similar experience but decided to ride on till I covered some considerable kms on it but that was a long time back, in my current situation I don't leave things to chance, cause Id be fine with spending more rather than riding with the fear that comes when you anticipate murphys law to come into play.
NS? If you're referring to the crankcase in the pic then that's my D100, I don't use the ZMA as frequently as I used to for personal reasons.
