Hello family,
Myself Aquib Razal from Kerala. Am very much excited to write in here. This thread changed the man in me to the biker breed. At the time when I got my zma I didn't had any knowledge related to bikes. At first i was totally new to the biking. if any problem occurs, will get my ride to the mech and say "brother,my bike is not working properly. Please fix it". But by now i can say whatever part needs to be replaced or fixed. It's all because of this thread and you brothers. Now i just feel like home. I've done a rebore job by taking reference from psr sir, ravi@17bhp and acs brothers. All the post in the thread is knowledgeable. It's a different world out here. Helping hands everywhere. Love you all brothers

Aquib... welcome to the fold. I was a novice on 4s when I started here..still am learning many new things. We try to give back what we have learned when someone asks a question. At times it might be wrong info but then someone else would correct us. Thatz how we thrive.
During my nearly 7 years with p180 (1st model) I never did anything to it except tighten the rear brake, fiddle with the idle screw and oil the key slot and switches when monsoon came. But going in for a zma changed all that. The info you can get here will make you a near complete expert if you are willing to ask the questions.

Now.... I am back on track for a repeat . Got the .25 piston of p220. Hoping for a home town transfer in about 3 months.

So I am sharing my recent experience with my 2007 Karizma R...i have clocked 60k and until now i have never seen or bothered to see the afr screw.

From past few months my steed have been returning horrible mileage (from my pov...that 33 kmpl)

So i contacted @ psr and he adviced me to change air filter and spark plug...which i changed...but still the problem exist. And later even checked the afr screw as told by @ psr... And that seems to be the culprit.. The screw was damaged...so took out the carb and went to fitter and he drilled out the screw without damaging the carb.

So the total cost spent was 95/- for screw 80/- for fitter 80/- mechanic...where as the new carb would have cost me 5500/-

Special thanks to psr

Happy to see that you have solved the problem...The ZMA thread is all about knowledge sharing and helping out members, and most of the time, this knowledge gives enough courage to members to try with simple DIY, which grows day by day and soon we see members modifying their engines....
All the credit goes to the members for the sharing and the bold DIY initiatives
Good Luck to all

My bike fell due to slipping of side stand as couple of guys were leaning against the bike. The handle bar got bent and the lhs got pushed on a bit upper side than normal. Though i tried to fix it but it is still not in complete sync. Any other workaround possible? Or it has to be replaced with a new one?

Guys any light on the above link, I assume its a kit to rebuild the internal parts of a zma's carb, correct me if I am wrong?

Also is this a good alternative, my AFR screw is damaged terribly(deformed), will this help?

Thanks in advance.

Get the afr screw replaced...go to a good fitter with refrence to your local mech.

Last week I changed my afr screw which was deformed badly.

Help needed: My rear and front suspensions are not working properly, as i had a 500km ride last week i was my back was aching while on return back to home. My ride is 82k old 2008 model, front suspension is too stiff. Think its time to replace the form springs. Does it resolve my issue? Does this spring replacement bring back the old softness of suspension? Regarding the rear suspension i haven't changed my bushes! When i simply push the suspension by giving load when the bike is idle it works. What will be the reason? Thanks in advance!

82k not bad at all! I've had the same issue with one of my bikes, replaced the rear shocker and it was all back to normal, it was my Shogun! Considering the ODO, I think it's about right time to replace your rear shocks. If you own the ZMA, the newer ZMR are equipped with the gas canister, try to find out if it's an exact match and or if it fits without any issue, if it's a match go for it, if it doesn't, then replace with OE shocks that came with the bike.

Now there can be a lot of reasons on the front going hard, by I'd suggest you to do a front end overhaul, replace your coneset (though this isn't connected to the ride quality, most people ignore this part when they do a front end overhaul, it just a small expense and goes hand-in-hand and improves handlebar feel quite a lot), overhaul both the forks and change what is necessary. Forks with less oil means they become spongy and excess oil tends to restrict the flow, and grab the fork action. If you haven't replaced your bike's front fork oil for a while now, overhauling the fork and using the right grade of fork oil can improve your ride quality.

Now this is all considering your stanchions (fork tubes) aren't bent or deformed in any way, if you've ever had a front end crash and or have had a bent fork and mended , then it's time to get new fork tubes.

Cheers!

Thanks brother. Well, It means its time to say goodbye for rear shockers! 😆 what would be the cost for new shocks? Any idea? I was planning to change the cushions for the rear shocks. Does a deformed/hardened cushion can affect the proper working of rear shocks?

Regarding the front suspension, as you said its time for an overhaul! Oil in forks are around 20k old. What all are the things I need to arrange to get this done? Defenetely I will change my cobsets. I didn't had any crash! But the bike fell 2 times in its lifespan till now. So the conset change can make improvement in handling right? 😊

20k definitely falls in the "fork job" criteria. Yes coneset does make a difference when it comes to freeplay of the handlebars (left and right motion), so in essence it does improve handling by quite a margin. Secondly, there is nothing much to arrange, nothing much inside fork apart from springs, spacers, a few nitty gritty, oil seals and the oil itself. Giving the bike to your nearest Hero SVC or a well known mechanic of your taste would do the needy, as all are easily available spares.

Shock absorbers inherently come with cushions, so it'd be a wise idea to replace the entire shockers to a new set, considering the mileage on the odo. I am not quite sure about the pricing, perhaps who've changed the shocks can comment. The only pricing negate here would be the new shock absorbers, apart from that, front end job shouldn't be a big problem when it comes to costs.

Cheers!

I had replaced my front fork oil for the 2nd time at 25k kms because my front legs were getting stiff, but after replacing the fork oil, I nam facing the same problem. I had used motul oil. Could anyone help me with this?

I am not able to ride my zma into rough roads. Do I need to replace anything else inside the fork?
I really can't define myself without my bike
