Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hey acs, I am thinking to get the bulb installed with a relay but don't want to cut the wires. Are there any plug n play type relays avaliable for headlights in the market?Originally posted by acs1207 View Post

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Relays are plug n play. The oe holder plug goes into the relay's input pins. The relay has a holder plug that connects with the bulb. The other connections go to the battery and body (negative). It is easier to get a car relay and its wiring kit if you are not interested in diy. Car relay wiring kit will be having 2 output wires and you can either cut off the 2nd set or roll it up and keep it along with the relay. Please do post results here.Originally posted by kariznin View PostHey acs, I am thinking to get the bulb installed with a relay but don't want to cut the wires. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hey guys, another question related to the grip on front tires. I have fallen 3 times already in 1 month due to front tire losing traction either due to loose gravel or small stones. The funny thing is I have fallen all 3 times while making a turn. All in lower speeds. I know I am not leaning the bike beyond its ability. My question is whether its the front tire or due to stable nature provided by longer wheel base or heavier front end or its the rear tire. The rear tire is the stock one which came along with the bike. It has run 25000 kms. I am really worried about the grip which bike is generating. In straight line the bike feels very stable but not when leaning a little bit. Help me find the root cause of the front end skidding. I need to fix this cause I am really worried about falling again with pillion.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

Simple rule, in a turn if you see gravel, -Dont lean at all
-Don't tap the front brake while turning
-keep it smooth, dont give sudden/abrupt inputs to throttle or brakes.
-if at all you feel the need to brake due to circumstances then make the bike as upright as possible and then gradually brake with 50:50 front:rear brake ratio (only in gravel)
That aside, do asses the condition of the front tyre if it needs to be changed

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I understand all those bro. Thanks for the inputs anyway. I have been riding since the age of sixteen. I know its not my riding style. I know after riding any bike what it can do and what it cannot. I also understand what I can do and what I cannot do. Even a decent size stone barring the gravel can bring karizma down. Thats the srewed up part. I have never felt like these on other bikes so far i have ridden. Many of the bikes i have ridden automatically get back into balance or gives enough inputs to let you know when it is going off balance or losing grip for you to understand what needs to be done. Somehow karizma doesnt give me that feedback. All i would know is i have crashed and on the ground. I need to know if anyone has ever encountered such problems and if they have identified the correct issue and rectified it.Originally posted by Abishek94 View PostSimple rule, in a turn if you see gravel, -Dont lean at all

- At turns I usually let the bike go along with momentum and then hit the throttle when the turn is done.
- I have adjusted myself not to use front brakes while turning. I am so used to riding an rtr. But beyond this I don't see what else I was doing wrong.
- like I said before I try to keep my bike upright without applying throttle or brakes yet fell once. Courtesy a small stone made the front tire lose its gravity.
- when you are committed to a turn, there is no way you can make the bike straight and avoid falling due to front end grip failing. Somehow I can't see that. All three times I fell I had no chance to recover but just let it go. IMO the problem is gotta do with the bike. I am guessing its due to the way the bike has been built. Longer wheel base ensure stability, the chassis is rigid and focused, taller gearing ratios ensure bike oozes decent power and is controllable. My conclusion is, its strong features itself or poor front design is leading to this one blemish which I can't withstand. I am not worried if something happens when I am riding alone. But all 3 crashes was with my wife as pillion. I can't let her fall or let anything happen to her.
1) Do u think upsizing the front tires will make a huge difference?
2) Do you guys advise on getting crash guards fitted to avoid body getting damaged?
3) Or will converting the front wheel size to 17 inch make matters worse? At least I have good options for tires if its a 17 inch wheel.
Sorry to ask many questions as tire change on my Rtr did wonders. I hope it can solve the issue with Karizma without having to modify anything.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

Sorry for the late reply thanks yes I am going to give bike in service center after a long time.Originally posted by kariznin View PostSure! Aniket, I'll got to the svc side this Sunday. So that time I would ask for the rubber.
Fuel sensor is the culprit here I think, get that replaced from the svc.. It would solve the problem.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Not to worry bro...its just because the lack of oxygen at high altitudes this problem occurs...in such case you can take out the air filter and ride on or carry a spare filter and make few holes in it.Originally posted by ankit.traveller View PostHi guys, just returned back yesterday from 2000 km trip to badrinath on my zma.I faced a peculiar issue. On plains bike performed well but when hills started and gained some altitude then missing problem started between 4k to 5k RPM. There was a missing bwetween said RPMs and when climbing on gradient, RPM refused to cross further from the exact point where the missing start. Then I had to shift to lower gears to gain power to climb. Even on high altitude straight road with slight gradient, bike refused to cross 60-70 kmph @ 4k to 5k RPM.While returning back, this problem continued on 400km run on highway even on plains- missing jerking between 4k to 5k RPM.
Before going to trip I replaced air filter, clutch plates, spark plug, chain sprocket set, engine oil.My bike is 2 year 24k kms old.Right now I am at lucknow my home town and now this problem dissapeared.
FYI- I faced same problem 1 year back on plains itself and simply by changing air filter, missing problem went away but this time I already installed new filter before trip.Pl suggest reasons-
Is it due to rich AFR setting, missing problem started on high altitude. But my steed is giving good mielage?
Any air leakage?
Again bad air filter?
Electrical/ spark plug problem?
Many riders use this method who rides on high altitude. This should solve your problems.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Thanks bro for reply. On high altitude (say above 6k feet) it is understood that there will be missing due to thinner air but why my bike missed on normal plains highway between 4k to 5k rpm? There is a slight jerk between these rpms, on plains it did not bothered too much because rpm increased anyway after slight jerk but as soon as hills started and gained little altitude (say 4000 feet) missing started and rpm refused to cross above 5k even on giving full throttle.Originally posted by kety213 View PostNot to worry bro...its just because the lack of oxygen at high altitudes this problem occurs...in such case you can take out the air filter and ride on or carry a spare filter and make few holes in it.

Hills HERO mechanic said that this problem is with all HERO bikes here but not with tvs, bajaj etc.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The problem is due to intermittent Throttle slide getting stuck...A well known problem with Karizma. Get the carburetor cleaned, esp., the throttle slide by taking it our and gently rubbing it with Soft Scotch Brite pad with soap...blow dry the slide before fitting.Originally posted by ankit.traveller View PostThanks bro for reply. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Did you mean Air Filter itself or the cover ? Even if you just take out the hose, thats more than sufficient. No circus of fiddling with carb or anything similar is required.Originally posted by kety213 View PostNot to worry bro...its just because the lack of oxygen at high altitudes this problem occurs...in such case you can take out the air filter and ride on or carry a spare filter and make few holes in it.

Sir cleaned the throttle slide by competent mechanic but still problem remains. Missing was not there when I Rode the bike 5 kms without air filter.Originally posted by psr View PostThe problem is due to intermittent Throttle slide getting stuck...A well known problem with Karizma. Did you remove just the snorkel or the entire filter element?Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
