Hero has really screwed up with the georgeous vintage look of old ZMA / ZMR

No offence to any one, few of my friends who are currently owning the new gen ZMA / ZMR are complaining regards to engine and body parts as well. Still i am not pretty sure how far they are true as mine one is really going strong without any engine issues and body vibration issues.... so reliability wise ZMA / ZMR falls under zero exception !!
But lately there has been news that Hero is asking all their dealers to take feedback from the customer that are they still interested in the old Zma....

As they new zma sales has come down drastically...

The EBR has murdered the iconic legend zma...

Exactly Bro !! I even heard the same from one of the technicians here in Bangalore in ASS.
He said like Hero is now planning to relunch the old ZMA / ZMR as per customer demands.

Is there any official launch date of EBR for India ?

I assume EBR will be the direct competitor of CBR250 what Hero had planned .. but let see how far it will last reliability wise

@psr Sir, I went through your earlier posts regarding the engine oil for ZMA

Me owing a ZMA of 2006 model and almost i have tried and tested most of the popular engine oils and just curious to know how about Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40.
I have come across your and many fellow Bhpians reviews about this oil and found to be VFM.

Why i am asking again this doubt here is like one of friend currently who is owning a 2012 ZMA R found this oil not to be good and his bikes engine did not felt good.

I assume my bikes recommended grade is 20W40 (I lost owners manual ). So is this oil recommended for earlier version of ZMA which came with 20W40 recommendations or can be used in all the versions (My doubt may be silly) ?

Also i would like to post a small review (Purely IMO) of the engine oils i have come across so far which may help others.

1.> HH OEM oil (10W30) --> ok ok type and it looses viscocity once engine heats. (Drain interval would be let say 1000 km)
2.> Shell AX7 (10W40) --> Good oil for normal city riding and occasional highway crusings. (Drain interval would be let say 1800 to 2000 km)
3.> Shell Advanced FS (10W40) --> Very good oil but i found it be very pricy for it's drain interval and not VFM (Drain interval would be let say 2500 to 3000 km)
4.> Motul 5100 15W50 SS --> Again good oil and drain interval would be of around 2000 km but i found it to be not VFM product and engine does not felt so smooth but gear shifts improved.
        5.> Motul 300V 15W50 FS (Double Ester) --> I think i have wasted my 1050 /- bucks . A big No for ZMA.
6.> Motul 7100 (Single Ester) - Forgot the grade name --> Acceleration felt like bike will JUMP and in no time i could able to do 100 kph but engine not felt smooth.
7.> Another SS grade of motul also i have come across of 10W30 grade but not able to figure out which one --> After 200 kms on ODO engine felt so good and drain interval also increased to 3000 km.
8.> Motul 3000 4T (20W40, Mineral oil) --> I would say best VFM and engine felt really smooth. (Drain interval 1500 km max)
9.> Valvoline 4T (20W50 i assume) --> Excellent product but everywhere it is difficult to find here in Bangalore.
10.> Castrol 20W40 --> Good oil and lasts for around 1800 to 2000 kms but lot of castrol products are getting FAKE by the dealers and difficult to know who sells the original ones, as i felt mixed type of feelings after ccontineouly using castrol products.
11.> Castrol power1 (15W40 - Not the FS one) --> I do not know why dealers and mechanics recommends this oil to the customers. One word engine felt harsh and stressed.
12.> Shell Rimula R4 --> The best oil for ZMA i ever came across and kept on using this oil for 12000 kms on ODO (Drain interval i would recommend max 1600 to 1800 kms).

Currently using Motul 3000 4T (20W40, Mineral oil) and engine is smooth but i am not quite happy with the gears shifts and finding to be bit notchy (sometimes).

So after hunting and using the above listed engine oils, asking for Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40 and seeking an expert advise.
I know this topic has been discussed in earlier Bhp threads but still i would like to seek an expert advise who's been using this oil for a long time.

I don't know why are we trying x50 when the upper limit to be said x40.
Also, Shell AX7 which I tried recently during my trip proved very wrong selection to what I had used Castrol P1, techno synthesis. Not calling for a debate here but just imagine that I was desperate to change the oil on day 2 first thing in the morning.
Some have good reviews about certain oil, its up to oneself to try and see if that brings a smile on your face.

Same here in kolkata. When i went for servicing this week. They were asking me the pros and cons of the bike. As per the tail issue, its a pain in the backside. Its just too far from the body and worse comes to worst when you realize almost nothing is there in the market to customize the new gen Karizma's with as the model is brand new. However whatever be the case, i'll still say the ride quality is top notch. (except for the vibrations btween 4 - 4.5k rmp as i mentioned)

Bro, Good to see your reply !!

I totally agree with you, as many had excellent results with Shell twins (AX7 10W40 SS and Shell Advanced FS 10W40).

It is purely IMO that i found Shell lubricants looses it's viscosity after 2000 kms in bumper to bumper Bangalore traffic and during oil change at the time of servicing i have closely observed like oil becomes very thin like water and reported the same to my trusted mechanic and he also agreed the same and suggested me to go for CASTROL and frankly speaking i have not yet tested shell twins in long tours.

The above engine oil reviews by me were tested in bumper to bumper traffic.

My driving is basically in city during peak traffic and occasional high speed @130 + KPH blasts .

Your inputs are highly appreciated as i am just a learner and will always be seeking expert advises

                Sriram Sir,
It's my pleasure to have your inputs.

The Xbhp threads only educated me regards to engine oils.

Earlier i was in assumption like more the money you spent better the premium oil you get and my experiment went on .... and i was totally blind regarding the oil grades.

                Bro,
Good to know that you are enjoying your ride.

Regarding the vibration issues... if it of engine vibration then i assume it will gradually be reduced with the sequence of services being covered and by switching into a good quality engine oil.

If your front fairing (doom / visor) rattles then you need to do something like i did for my ZMA. Trust me my 9 year old ZMA is totally vive free whether it's off road or high speed cruising.

I would like to list down few points which may be helpful to you.

1.> Try not to put your ride in sudden pot holes, as ZMA visor being hold by two delicate fiber clamps which settles just below the instrument console in two holes. I am not that expert to explain .. but i suspect you will get me what i am trying to explain. Not sure about ZMR.

2.> Double sided tapes can be used in order to avoid the fiber to fiber contact between instrument console and visor mask area. In my case i have used tubes as double sided tapes come with white color.

3.> When you get a chance to open your front doom make sure all the bolts are tightened properly.

And many more experiments can be done to overcome such issues upon ones logic and interests.

@ Chandan_ZMA....I had experimented and taken a calculated risk to find out which engine oil suits MY ZMA...The Shell Rimula R3X and R4 came up as the best VFM product...but this is after experimenting with Gulf Pride 20W40,Valvoline 10W40 etc....So for a new comer to engine oil experiments, Gulf Pride is the starting point to a good start, and most probably the best oil for my ZMA is R3X or R4. this oil gives almost same feel as the Synthetic blends at Mineral oil cost...It also helps in keeping the engine clean due to detergents...
So for the preferred oil.....it depends on the individual and the bike's affinity to the specific oil....

                    Noted @psr Sir,

Thank you for your reply !!

Got to know R4 from your and fellow Bhpian's earlier posts and i had excellent results with Rimula R4 and kept on running the bike for around 12k kms on odo with drain interval 1600 to 1800 kms.

R4 is the best oil i ever come across. R4 reduced heating issues and engine felt smooth , earlier i could feel little heat lower part of the fuel tank.

Currently looking for little change, so took Gulf Pride in to picture as it had better results for many. Will give a try and post the results here.

Currently running with Motul 3000 4T 20W40. No doubt engine is smooth but some times gears shifts feels little notchy.

                    Thanks again Sir

Not nitpicking, but you'd be a lot happier if you used 80% of the engine's potential and not make it work at 100% everytime you hit the highway. Also, not to forget that 130+ kmph doesn't give you much time to react if anything goes wrong.

Yes Bro you are very right,
Always i drive sedately in between 60 to 70 kmp, when ever the ring roads are completely empty i do give a top whack once or twice in a month keeping one thing in mind my self other road users are not in danger due to my driving

I always make sure that i am not stretching my mean machine harshly to its limits which is always dangerous to my self and to other road users.

Thank you very much for your suggestions bro !!

Like i replied to Divys bros post once to twice in a while i do give a top whack when the roads are completely free.

I always think twice before i speeding up the machine that myself and others are completely safe.

For city runs - try to stay within 60-80kmph depending on type of road and traffic conditions. For highway riding I stay around 100-110 kmph at max.

I was facing issues in stock air filter of my ZMA.

Now a days ZMA stock air filter comes with green in color and earlier it was yellow.

When i used the green color air filter for the first time bike started loosing it's performance after 1k km. When checked by my mechanic it was completely worned out.
Immediately replaced with another one and again bike started loosing it's performance after 1.5k km and found same issue.

My trusted mechanic advised now days quality wise ZMA air filters are not up to the mark and suggested me to do little modification to the air intake.

Got a pulsar air filter (Rs 84 /-) (ZMA original one - Rs 280 /-) and fitted it with alteration to the old one and currently getting better performance
