    • Is'nt painting and touchup supposed to be free????

Cause every time I go to the SVC I get something or the other painted and have'nt yet paid them a single penny for it.

      • Gear shift on my 5year old Zma has gone really hard, what could be the cause? It has done just 12K kms. Also, whats the cost of a new air filter, never got a chance to get it changed?

no the painting has been done ... well the naked eyes says tht ... ...

but still they are able to fix my 1 problem ... my bike goes right side ... when i leave my hand ... usually it shouldnt go ... but it tends too ... i tried that on other bike including the SVC owned karizma too but no problem with them ...

every time they do something but no result .. this time also they have done somthing with handle ... or joint .. but still the problem is not solved ... it tends to go to right hand side ...

i know leavng hands is dangerous ... but when i go for long rides ... say 300 400 km at a stretch ... my arms tend me pain ... ( am worrying about this specially ... coz i want to go for long long rides )

Please quote with reference since I have no clue about what you are referring to....on a guess I think you are referring to the rear brake stay bending in ZMA to accommodate the M45 4.00/18 tire....It will not compromise safety, but the tire can be fitted without the bending .

Try changing oil. And I believe new air filter costs 300 something. Ask Aneesh he knows all the exact costs.

Go back shout out, but before that. I hope you know that roads have a curveature by default, since they're made that way. So make sure you'r testing this on a plain road.

and regarding the banking of roads , i dont think banking is the problem ... coz national highways are made as simple .. no banking ... i tried at 80 also but still its going on right side.

                      12k in 5 years. gulp!

Hard gear shift can be for various reason. Oil, Clutch plates or Clutch cable tension. I say check you clutch cable tension first. In time, the cable will become loose and increase free play. Too much free play will not allow clutch to engage (or is that disengage) fully when applied, like trying to shift gear in half clutch. Next check the oil and lastly the clutch plates. But then clutch plates should be perfectly ok for a 12k bike unless its been abused.

Yes,but one of my friend fitted in this manner and now the tire is hitting the swingarm, guess chain and sprocket wear is the problem.

You are welcome .. sorry for your initial trouble .. but you seem to have got it right at the second go , what was wrong the first time ? Sorry for late response , my inter-net was down for last two days , very flaky even now . Darn thing always goes flaky when it rains hard for a few days .
I have considered a fuel filter too , particularly of those magnetic type that traps bits of rust .. but dunno what would fit . btw ..the fuel tank has a filter already build in to it ,before the petcock . Moreover it is my personal belief that the source of most of the grainy dust in the float bowl is the air-filter ( air intake system ) and not the petrol . Petrol borne dirt would be of gum or varnish kind . So I am still wondering about it .
@psr - would it be bad to use a little 2T in the carb slide before refitting it ? It seems to lose smoothness after a thorough cleaning .

                            • Been a long time since I visited the forum. Too much work in office! Managed to pull off some time last weekend and rode down to Coimbatore to see off a friend. Started from Bangalore by Saturday afternoon and was back by Sunday night. Was a really good ride with around 800km on the odo. Rode through Kanakpura, Chamraj nagar and the forests of Sathyamangalam to reach there. For the return journey, rode through Mettupalayam, Ooty, Masanagudi, Mysore to reach Bangalore.

The bike performed exceptionally well throughout the journey. Since I was riding solo, I did not stop often too. It was once every 100-150km. Running on Motul 3000 4T plus 20w40 and the engine was cool even after hours of cruising over speeds of 80-100. The headlamp relay with the Philips Premium 55/60w deserves a special mention here. The throw of the light is simply superb! The Sathyamangalam forests were so well lit and confident speeds were around 80. Then on the way back again on the Mysore-Bangalore highway, I could cruise in upto speeds of 100-110 at night..
We are miles away from the routine.
                              Headlights rise over the horizon.
                              Pierce the morning fog.
Cut through the clutter in our minds.
                              Carve new highways!

Ji, the dust from Air Filter cannot enter the float bowl of carburetor....most of the time you will find a red colored dust in the float bowl which actually comes with the Petrol...Keep the petrol tap closed when Fuel is being filled. This will minimize the sediment build up.
Regarding the slide fitting lube you can use even 20w50 oil, because in the first 5 Kms itself it will be washed and sucked away.
